On the console version just do not get hit, there are no pots. That and wait for him to get tired (which happens if he does not hit you).

Errr I beg to differ, around the edge of the arena where you fight Gaul in round 1 there are these little pot like things acting as sources of light, tailswipe or strike these and they do break.
No matter, I've figured Gaul out ![]()
