"Game needs to be dark" NO!

They need to be made well! Not too much candy graphics, but not too edge lord either cool

Using the word dark makes me think of some nerd cringy ideas. Game developers in the 90s really knew how to build a game centered atmospheric game in terms of 3d or 2d.
Just to take an example. Zelda Ocarina of Time was pretty cool to be honest. An old 3D game which was more or less pretty nice. Well its more the build up and the exploring, and the fact that it had organic graphics that seems to feel medieval in atmosphere that is the reason why it was good. Although this doesn't mean having a different colouring filter is bad, like Zelda A Link to the Past is one of my favorite games!, but its more or less organic in graphics, newer games tend to be too candy although they may be fun they don't leave a big impression. I mean... i might be wrong but i think of some lyrical and some aristocratic baroque music or something when i listen to this. But that's the main thing, making it real by being creative.

Although today its more focuses on remakes instead of new ideas. Which is too sad. Reason to why most good games are in the 90s in general, with some on PS2 aswell.

Its more... dumbed down minds that i think is sad on the internet. Or to say the least, "Not wanting for different ideas or creativity", basically "We wants this remade", i will assume people who just think of making stuff shady or gore makes stuff good and they don't have to incorporate psychological, atmospheric or interesting aspect. Just make it BLEEPING DARk, and everything will be good, haven't seen or cared for that Batman animated series from the 90s, but i bet its dumb(Well its more that i tend to avoid stuff geek obsess by. I mean i have seen Star Wars movies, the oldest one including. Its a popcorn movie but just geeky more or less, its not revolutionary to say the least. Not to go off topic but i remember the only thing i watched was Spiderman the animated series from the 90s, or well in generally i just dont care much for super hero series or movies, i guess i thought this one was ok though, have no opinions on the early movies though hehe. For example, i think Batman Begins was just something i bought and watched and kinda liked, because Ninjas and stuff are pretty cool, but Dark Knight had that annoying clown so i disliked that. But hey, atleast it was DARK Bah : 3 .

So its not me trying to teach factuality, on the contrary i welcome diversity, its the nerds who wishes for something to contain certain amount of their own flavor into the bowl, Rather than trying to incorporate good ideas and content. So i am diverse, i don't stick to one. Its good that people have differences, but i don't diss on something unless i really feel like they try to provoke their opinions as a fact! That's why i hit back : 3

Conspiracy Theory

Dark tendency tend to be most american crowds though which is why i find some sad reviewers or some commenter on YouTube having spoken about it. Just as some have supremacy complex of FF6 being most americans because it was imported 3 Final Fantasy games in US and not internationally til FF7, which is why there exists edge lord who disses the FF7 PS1 version with this because FF6 reminds them of Star Wars with robots with magic or something. Don't really know in which state they taught children of DARK supremacy though. Wicca is a cool religion though, but i don't think dark magic was the reason behind it..

i'm curious, could you explain this a bit more?

Take Yoshi's Island on Super Nintendo, and compare it to N64 Yoshi's Island or any of the newer versions, or SNES Super Mario World with WiiU New Super Mario Bros. Basically that!

Using the word dark makes me think of some nerd cringy ideas.

Reminds me of how I felt about LoS at the time when it was relevant, tbh. Same with the word "epic." I really didn't like the attempt to make Spyro "dark" and "edgy" because that's just not what the series was about. Trying to make an "epic" story centered around an "elemental" purple dragon while using the most cliche elements of the hero's journey story was cringy to me. Now I just don't really care, but, yeah. tongue

Re: "Game needs to be dark" NO!

Also. It seems that ever since it went away from the 90s. Although 2000s had some good moment too. 2010 is where it dropped the balls. But it could have some demonic and enchanted stuff into the game that could be sold to kids. Everything has to be so PC nowadays. Like if you drowned underwater in Super Mario on Nintendo 64 you had that demonic laugh just to mention some examples. They don't do that stuff anymore. 90s is when they just said, alright we are gonna do it this way. Ignore the PC police. Much creativity and stuff.
