I looked more into this and it sounds like this was a project between just a couple of Insomniac workers. And apparently the making of the game was also livestreamed, so that's pretty interesting. Not my kind of game, but cool nonetheless.

You don't need 5 consecutive hours to play this game. You can just try one level and be done with one session, try the next two levels and be done with the second session, etc.
