You Were Right About Asphalt 8, Flapjacks....

I played it on my PC a few hours after I played around with the graphics settings in Shift 2 Unleashed (my most graphically demanding PC game, since I have a small library), and I have to say that the game looks a bit -- like a grain of sand "bit," but it still matters -- unimpressive on a bigger screen.

But then when I take a pic of my computer with my iPhone....

It kind of portrays the screen like my iPhone's. Sheesh. I'm not sure if the iPad's resolution even compensates for this...

Okay, maybe it might, but before I go on, I just want to show my laptop...

This 2011 Inspiron computer actually has two graphics cards: the included Intel HD 3000, and the optional AMD Radeon HD 6470M with 512 MB, and 4GB of memory, with an i3 processor. What does that mean? It can run Skyrim with I think a half-gig worth's of mods, Sonic Generations, and probably every Need for Speed game that's been released by the end of 2014, and maybe 2015 if I'm lucky.

Here's some screenshots from Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010), World, and Shift 2 Unleashed, in that order:

While the first two Hot Pursuit pics were a bit jagged, those were on the highest settings I can put for the game. Also, these are my settings for Shift 2 Unleashed:

These are the highest settings my PC can take while still running at a reasonable pace. Though I have to admit, ever since I upgraded to Windows 8, some of the tracks became inaccessible due to memory overloads.

I was also going to include The Run, but I think I already made my point.

I don't mind the bit-disappointing graphics in Asphalt 8, though. It still has a tolerable frame rate. Hell, it actually hits 60fps on my PC. Graphics don't even freakin' matter when all you really want is good gameplay, after all... I mean, seeing Mario Kart 7 footage on a big TV.... That looks a bit sloppy, right? Well, the game doesn't play sloppy on the smaller screen itself. Hell, it looks just fine when you start playing it for real.

For shift 2, you might want to lower some of the  anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering; they make the game look not that much better, imo, and take a decent amount of performance away, lowering those will let you higher some more noticeable stuff.

Maybe splitscreen, but watching singleplayer, it's definitely 60fps and looks amazing. Four-player splitscreen on that game seemed to be at about 30fps, but definitely still playable, just not that great to look at compared to 60. It has to render four copies of the game, so it's definitely reasonable. Singleplayer runs at a smooth 60fps, and I never saw any drops, although I hadn't played all the courses.

AA comes in handy for low screen resolutions where edges are more likely to stand out, it would benefit loco more since he is running such a low resolution. But the AA will not be as effective due to the age of the 6 series GPU, they do not benefit from the newer technologies and I doubt he has even updated his drivers to the omega 14.12 which would see him a great performance boost.
Edit: If you want to know, I am using a NEC 4k (3840x2160) monitor I recently acquired earlier this year and most of the time I cannot really run it at full resolution because I need a new graphics card (Probably 2 for acceptable framerates). Most of the time I run it at 2560x1440.
