Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
So I picked Smash Bros Wii U up last Friday! Having a lot of fun with it so far. My friends and I have at least clocked 10 hours just this weekend...haha
I'm curious to know from anyone else who has the game: who's your main? I can't seem to decide whether I like Kirby, Captain Falcon, Greninja, or Mario the best.

Whenever I play a Nintendo game that lets you pick your character I never pick Mario. It would just be too expected, you know?

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
I only have the 3DS version, but so far I main Captain Falcon, Pikachu, and Little Mac, but I've been trying to get better at Wario and Dedede. Wario is good in some cases, but terrible in others. He's pretty hard to get good at, but If you're playing against someone who can't dodge your bike, it'll be pretty easy.
I'm not sorry if I offended you.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
I never liked Mario in the other Smash games either, but he's pretty good this time around. Can't beat throwing Marth in the air and juggling him around with your awesome Mario combos.
Also, I hate that American Mario is a thing now.
I do dabble in Dedede and Lucario a bit as well. I've only tried Wario a few times and can't understand what the heck he's supposed to do.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
I have enjoyed. Surprisingly Playing with The GamePad is both comfortable and a blast. I would probably play it the entire way. But Wanna use TV too at some point. But Gamecube Controller is always numbah one!
Anyway my mains so far number 1 Mario! The others I don't know yet in the end I think. 1. Mario. 2. Olimar. 3. Sonic. 4. Villager. 5. Shulk. And then maybe switch to Pac-Man!
Glad you guys are enjoying it too it's the best Smash to date in my eyes! But that's me!

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
I can't play this game online. It's infuriating. Most people just stand back and spam projectiles against you (looking at you Link, Duck Hunt, and Pikachu). That, and I feel like the rolling has way too many invisibility frames in this game; people just roll across the stage like their *bleep* is on fire, and even if you predict it you can't punish it. At least it's still fun with friends, but seriously, how is playing like that any fun?

Seems like any game I play online people always find a way to win really hackishly and the whole thing just stops being any fun at all

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
Sounds frustrating.
I haven't played too many games online, but it's never any fun when people rely on hacks like that.
To be fair, though, a lot of people would consider my snaking in Mario Kart DS pretty cheap, so maybe I'm being a bit hypocritical here. ![]()

The game's a blast 10/10. In my book. Even when I lose. Not a sore loser. I enjoy just got Mr. Game and Watch and Duck Hunt to unlock.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
So I actually had a lot of fun with For Glory mode today on Wii U. Played about 10 matches in a row where my opponent and I were both Captain Falcon. By the end, it basically devolved into who could pull off the coolest Falcon Punch kill. The dude even changed his name tag to "PAAAUWWWNCH" between games.
After playing the game for a while now, I feel like my best characters are: Fox, Capt. Falcon, Kirby, Pikachu, and (sometimes) Jigglypuff. Puff can be a super fun character to just have fun and mess with people with her Rest.
Anyone else been playing Smash recently?

I've basically been playing it every day since I got it because me and my friends all have it and we play it at school ![]()
When I'm at home I occasionally play for glory, and I've gotten to the point where my win ratio isn't disgusting, actually. Then there's occasionally those people who pick sheik and destroy me.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
I've been itching to play. First of all cause it's definitely my favourite Smash forever! Second cause. I still got unlock DH (Duck Hunt) and Mr. Game and Watch, and third I want to become a better smash player. So I'll be playing for a while which I love! But with the data, corruption error code thing the Wii U's been getting. I don't wanna take the risk, but when it's resolved I'll definitely no pun intended settle it in Smash!

I guess that's one of the benefits of the 3DS version, lol.
I think my win/loss in FG is about 50%. I usually lose most of my games to good Sheik players and projectile spammers like Link and Megaman. I've gotten better against them, but they're still pretty obnoxious. Though it's really funny when you can counter their projectiles and they have no idea what to do anymore.

I'm not trying to undermine your statement, just going off on a tangent, but I always thought Smash was one of those game series where it's almost certain that the sequel will be better than its predecessor, because the game literally just builds off of the old one, adding new content and spicing things up, while removing barely anything from it's last title. Unless Nintendo screwed up really hard, it's not really an issue of which one is better. A lot of people seem to think that Melee is better than Brawl, but I tend to disagree; maybe Melee is better for competitive play, but I think that the competitive section of Smash's community is a lot smaller than its casual part, which I think Brawl had a better appeal to than melee. I really like the direction that Nintendo took with this installment, though, what with adding For Glory and For Fun into online, and having the final destination form of stages for each one was also a great idea. Maybe Melee and Project M will still appeal more to the competitive scene, but Smash 4 is opening it up a lot more to previously casual players.

My win/loss was 37% last I checked, most of my losses are because
A: Someone picked Sheik
B: Someone picked Link (bow-boomerang-bow-boomerang, repeat, win)
C: I self-destructed
D: I get matched against a player with god-tier skill who constantly shields, places themselves perfectly, times their attacks just right, actually uses grabs, and two-stocks me with 0% damage.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U
I understand, where you're coming from, Flapjacks and you're right the next Smash, will most likely be better then this one. I'm sure I'll enjoy it! But I think no matter how, good the future games are this will probably be my favourite, solid game mechanics, very balanced, and a solid game overall! So yeah it will be my favourite in the series, but your right the future ones will be, great and I'll like them just as much!
Anyway I was starting to battle Level 8 and 9 CPU's, and working towards, facing off in four player and 8 player smash! I won't dare face off on Four Glory I know I will be obliterated.

Personally, I enjoy Melee more than Sm4sh even though I don't play competitively. The quickness and movement in Melee is just fun to me. I suppose I just prefer the super-aggressive play style, which just isn't possible in Brawl or (to a lesser extent) Smash 4. I feel when you're playing better than someone in Melee, you will win most of the time. That's not the case in Smash 4 because of how shields, rolling, and projectiles are such a safe options. You could be pulling off cool combos and strings but then a Link could just decide to projectile spam you to death, hide behind a shield, or roll or whatever. Without perfect timing, punishing rolls in this game is kind of ridiculous. But yeah, for widening the Smash audience and appealing to more casual players, the game is great, and I love playing with friends who won't just use the annoying tactics to win.
I want to try Project M sometime, but I don't even own a copy of Brawl, and I doubt my PC could even handle it.

I agree. I can't wait to see Apex this year too. For those who don't know, it's a tournament where great fighting games are played Melee being one, The Smash competive scene is great!
As for me I play Mario, Link, Captain Falcon DK, and Olimar!
