Re: Tales of Series
A lot of people love it. Personally, it's my least favorite of the ones I've played. Sorry, clock-la ![]()

Re: Tales of Series
I forget Latias fan. Have you played the first Xillia?
Nope. Only Tales of games I've played so far is Abyss(3DS) and Destiny DC(PS2). I plan to play
after I finish Destiny DC.
So the good news for me then seems to be that Graces F is kinda bad regardless?! :-P
Kind of? Really the main opinion I hear on Graces is that everything about it other than the actual gameplay is garbage. Story, characters, music etc. Its just the gameplay is so great that the game is worth playing.

Re: Tales of Series
You should play either Symphonia or Xillia after that. Those two are the best ones, imo.

Re: Tales of Series
Yeah, don't give up just because of Graces!
The others are a lot better.

Re: Tales of Series
So now that I finished Tales of Destiny DC(Which is fantastic) and I got an hour start on Tales of Legendia.
First things first dat soundtrack.

Yea it's pretty great stuff.
Second the World map exploration is pretty good. There were treasure chests all over the world map, much like Tales of Destiny. There was this one annoying thing though - after coming out of a town or a random battle, you couldn't move for a few seconds until the camera panned all the way out, THEN you could move. Which is pretty strange, I kind of wonder if its a bug or something. Also I liked how the game takes place on the Legacy (a floating island ship, which is a unique setting in of itself), and the directions in this game are based on a clock rather than normal directions (instead of NW/NE/SE/SW, you would get 12/3/6/9 o clock).
Third I like how the protagonist actually uses something other than a sword for a change in a JRPG(He uses his fists) it makes his playstyle pretty interesting during battle.
fourth the voice acting in the game is pretty good((Will is voiced by the same guy who did Kratos in Symphonia for you two Symphonia enthusiasts.) except for Shirley. Which is just..ear grating.

I've heard less squeaky chipmunks.
Overall enjoying the game so far.

Jude in Xillia does this as well. It's fun to play as him.

Re: Tales of Series
Apparently the fan translation of PS3 Vesperia is still being worked on! I still don't care too much about the extra content (Patty sounds like a completely unnecessary character...), but KingLambda and I might finally be able to get rid of our half-broken Xbox 360 if this gets finished!

Also, been playing Tales of Xillia 2, and while I am liking it so far, I have to say I'm not a big fan of the way the story is broken down. All the interesting character stuff that would usually be in the main story is pushed off into optional sidequests that you can only find by fast traveling around the map to the places marked with little exclamation marks. I dunno, it kind of takes me out of the experience knowing "this is an optional sidequest that I have to go out of my way to find" rather than things just happening naturally over the course of the story.

Re: Tales of Series
Agreed. One of my biggest complaints about Xillia 2 other than what you mentioned was also present in the first one, and that is the ability to fast travel right from the get go. One of the best part about earlier games in the series like Symphonia was the lack of any sort of quick travel until you've already explored most of the map, and even then it wasn't quick travel, but instead the ability to fly. When you can just jump from one part of the world to another on a whim the sense of scope greatly diminishes and I no longer feel immerssed in my characters' journey. That aside, I am enjoying the story and the new characters, especially Rollo! The old characters are great too, they got the personalities spot on from the first game!

Re: Tales of Series
I personally really appreciated the fast travel in Xillia. I don't think I would have been able to finish the game without it.
Recently I've felt that I can't finish a game if I feel like it's wasting my time. I used to love Mario and Luigi: Dream Team on 3DS, but when I recently picked it up again, because of the slow-paced gameplay and drawn out turn-based battle system, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to finish it.
I do remember enjoying Symphonia a lot when playing multiplayer though, so playing with others might have something to do with it.
That said, I'll probably end up getting Xillia 2 when the price goes down.

Apparently the patch is already done. The reason its not released is because they're working on some anti pirate thing to prevent the patch from being used on pirated ISOs. Which is funny since you have to jailbreak the console in the first place to even use this patch.
Still, at least they'll release scripts.
