Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Well, since I've seen a decent amount of chat about Smash Bros on this forum in the past, I thought I'd give it its own designated thread so we can all discuss the upcoming games on 3DS and Wii U!

So there was a big announcement trailer today if you all missed it, which revealed 3 new playable characters.

Looks like Captain Falcon is back, and Lucina and Robin (main character) from Fire Emblem Awakening will be newcomers, with Chrom acting as Robin's Final Smash. I'm a pretty big fan of Fire Emblem Awakening on 3DS (check it out if you haven't; it's a great game even if you aren't familiar with Fire Emblem), and I'm also super excited to see how Falcon plays in this game. Hopefully he'll get buffed this game, seeing as he was pretty terrible in Brawl.

What are your thoughts on the new game, and which versions will you be getting (or not getting?) Personally, I think I'll be waiting for the Wii U version for local multiplayer with friends. Plus controlling such a precise game on the 3DS might be kind of difficult. I would also rather play on a TV rather than a small 3DS screen.

I liked playing as Solid Snake ._.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

I am getting the Wii U version 3DS version to me does look great. But your right Smash probably is at it's best on TV.

I will be using both GamePad and TV equally so it's going to be awesome mostly GamePad and then some times after and then mostly TV therefore after. If I somehow end up with The GameCube Controller Adaptor cool. But I don't need Smash looks awesome on GamePad and TV can't wait to experience both. Yay!

As for Captain Falcon, Lucina, and Robin, Welcome back to And welcome to Super Smash Bros.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Falcon's moveset is exactly the same as Fox's except his gun has a more heavy attack. Really, there are no characters that are so underpowered that they're unplayable; even if you're only decently good, you can play whoever you want. Except Meta Knight. He's only for noob scrub pleb hardscoping LoL players.

Their really balancing everyone out so I think Meta Knight will be toned down. If he returns which he most likely will.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Might take sometime but people will get used to the GamePad/Pro Controller controls I will too.

If your getting the Gamecube Controller Adaptor and you played Melee or Brawl you'll be fine.

Oh I didn't mean Falco, I was talking about Captain Falcon. Probably should have written the full name out I suppose tongue He was okay in Brawl, but not as fast and potent as he was in Melee I guess. But yeah I enjoyed switching characters up a lot in Brawl.  I ended up liking Falco, King Dedede, and Lucario the most. I mainly played as Captain Falcon and Samus in Melee. I've heard good things about the balancing in this game though, so I have faith that it will be better than previous games. But Meta Knight though...my friends and I had an unspoken agreement that you should never play as Meta Knight or Pit with his side+B move. hmm

I will be using both GamePad and TV equally so it's going to be awesome mostly GamePad and then some times after and then mostly TV therefore after. If I somehow end up with The GameCube Controller Adaptor cool.

I'm a little torn on the whole Gamecube adapter thing. On one hand it's good because I won't have to buy a bunch of Pro Controllers to play with people, but I think Nintendo should be trying to push their newer hardware more. I'm sure the Pro Controller is great (might be better than a GC controller), I just haven't had a reason to get one. But options are always good.

Yeah, seeing as Metal Gear Solid 5 isn't going to be on Wii U Snake's probably pretty unlikely to return. Still waiting for a Tales character to be announced though.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Me likes the new Fire emblem characters even though I'm not a fire emblem nerd (like my brother) but those characters look cool. Looking forward to the game. Though this maybe me being a Yzard fan, but I feel terribly bad that they didn't put Mega Charizard Y in the game. I mean Mega Charizard X gets this and that, but no love for Mega Charizard Y. I mean it makes physical sense for mega Charizard X to be in the game, it's just not fair to the Mega Charizard Y. I'm probably gonna have to settle with the 3DS game, since I'm pretty sure my dad will not get a job anytime soon to get some cash to a wii u as well as other needed house things.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Enjoy it too man 3DS Version does look great. So I'm not sure if anyone has ever seen CoroCoro it's the magazine that spoils stuff for new Pokemon games. Apparently in next month's issue their going to be revealing the rest of the roaster and stages. But it's just a rumour for all I know.

Your right Paranoia options are always good.

And Snake was cool. But we got Pac-Man, And Mega Man in his place and that's cool. Snake is not forgotten in Metal Gear Solid or Smash.

Apparently that leaked roaster think from CoroCoro probably is just already known information. Doesn't matter though roaster will be known when we play.

Too bad he could have been the train driver when Toon Link is played. But it's Alfonso. Which is fine. Leave it to him.

I'm sure Ness will be back since he's been in all the other games. I'm just more interested in the trailer that he might get. They're all so well made and make each character reveal really cool.

I just don't think very many people liked Spirit Track that much. I really enjoyed it (probably one of my favorite Zelda games actually), and Byrne was one of the coolest characters, so that would be pretty sweet.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Maybe something like this. Newcomer is getting revealed. Say it's Dixie Kong for example. Not saying she's in the game just using this as an example. Starts off with Super Bros Logo Dixie Kong is on Donkey Kong Island. Dixie Kong Ponytails it up. She runs at something. But flames blast her back. Out of the darkness Ness emerges. They engage in battle and Dixie square off in bits of it. That's just a guess. Once again not saying Dixie will be revealed just a guess. It's also a way to bring Ness back.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Speaking of Ness, I just recently got Earthbound for free from Club Nintendo. The vibe I'm getting from it so far is a really quirky satire of American culture. Maybe that's just me.

Also, here's the menu music for the 3DS version of Smash Bros. Reminds me a lot of Kirby Air Ride!

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

I guess it makes sense.I'm a fan of Waluigi but. Besides spin-off titles what has he really appeared in? Rosalina and Luma were more recent and have been appearing in more recent. Mario games plus have a unique moveset that's why their in.

Course he could have represented the Warioware series. Poor dude least his wrath will be felt assist trophy style.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

Ahhhhh! Captain Falcon made my day, rumors were going around that he wasn't gonna be in it, so I am ecstatic that he is in the game. I'm honestly not too excited for Fire Emblem characters though. Still a great trailer.

Re: Super Smash Bros 3DS/Wii U

The Fire Emblem characters were a great addition. Honestly in my book. I mean Lucuna might be a clone but has differences from Marth. Her being more balanced with her blade. Compared to Marth's whose power flows from the blade's tip. Also she has the mark of Naga. And The Robins are cool and versatile.
