Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
Adding guns to a Spyro game = Bad Idea. I know you don't say this, but that is what Spyro games are soo unique from others. Having guns in a game for the main character (and in some cases sub characters) to wield and to commit crimes with it gives it a bad image. That is what most news critics are all fired up about. Today's shoot'em'up games are all violent and gruesome (like halo 3 and bioshock).
Why Spyro games are unique is that it doesn't involve gruesome blood and a whole lot of violence and weapons to commit crimes with.
And to answer your question I would say they would make a comeback

Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
well some platformers have become too serious and these days most games are for the older audience and dont really make me inspired.
TLOS hasn't really appealed to me that much but spyro can make a come back if someone good gets their hands on im

Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
Well, I think that nearly anything can happen, as a fue bestsellers don't have any guns or, for that matter, any real violence.... the SIMS!! [go weird talking freaks of nature..... and I'm not talking about myself!]
And, the only resion those "Bestsellers" are on top is bacuse the creators have made a nice deal with the companies producing the games, then they get the lable of "Platnim Hits" dropping the price, then the masses swarm to the shelvs like a groop of maggots on dead flesh [where did I come up with that anolgy?!?!?] And most of the mases go by the idea of "The longer the list of bad thigs in the game, better the game"..... now Im just off topic altogher
Spyro can easly make a comeback within... the next game probally! As the public wants are fickle, and once the violencs in the real word has becom more realised, games like Spyro will make a HUGE comback [lets say in the next 5 years if the conflicts contiune]

Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
I guess you're all right but lets just hope he doesn't go the way Jak and Daxter did which is first kid friendly then going to cursing and having guns but that will never happen.

Oh and well, Alot of people these days are choosing everything over gameplay and thats what i see on this forum..
sure, TLOS has nice cutscenes, big voice talents and a nice "epic"*cough cough* feel but seriously, i like superchargin better

Well all those part you just mentioned are indeed crucial elements to a great game.
But who doesn't like supercharge? :-P
I know that many thinks of the new games as having bad gameplay - well I don't think it's bad, but I do agree that I love the platform genre.
I think the LoS games would be absolutely perfect if there were a little more platforming in them. TEN took one step forward towards that, so who knows what we might se in the next games?
I still wouldn't miss the combat though - it has been GREATLY improwed. In the old games it got rather boring with the combat part because it was to easy, and onesided. So I believe that a well ballanced portion of combat, puzzels and platforming would make the LoS the best in all.

Yeah but what about after LoS? Will they keep going or make a whole new storyline, who knows but only time will tell.

Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
It sure can make a comeback.
Not everything out there is a shoot-'em-up game. Just like Brom said.
Also, I don't think many parents are going to get their young kids games that spill guts and blood everywhere..
Since the past 2 games, TLoS has improved. As long as it keeps improving, everything should be fine.
As for after TLoS - well, I sure have nothing to say. I'm clueless about what will happen after that. Hopefully not the end.

Thats because Bashing up enemies wasn't the WHOLE idea of the games
But anyhow the TLOS timeline still doesn't appeal to me very much with all its stuff about darkness and crud but that doesn't mean the cutscenes arn't bad.

I'd say you're on a twist there. Which game are you talking about? if it's all 3 games, I think you should hold your thounge about something none of us has even seen yet.
And again, if people don't like the new games, thats just fine, but then I honestly wouldn't consider them beeing fans of the games anymore - that kinda comes with the package you know.

Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
TEN was a decent game.
But would it be able to hold its own with Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Devil May Cry 4, and other big names... not a chance.

The movie will make Spyro very popular but I just hope they don't make a game of it unless it's done right. Yup, I go by the rule of NEVER BUY A MOVIE GAME!!!!!

Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
Shadow the Hedgehog was a terrible game, it goes to show you "Even if you give a character a gun that doesn't mean the game will be a success because of that". Besides the only things close to a gun you would see in a Spyro game are tanks and cannons.

Re: Do you think Spyro is making a big enough comeback?
Nobody argued about giving Master Chief a gun. lol! Not that I would mind Spyro having one. (Oh, wait. He can't hold one.) I wonder why enemies disappear instead of burning up like they should? (Light 'em up and watch them burn!) I can do blood and dark stuff but I can't do gore or loads of cursing. I played a demo of Quake 4 and just seeing a chunk of a guy's face was bad enough. (not to mention you can see his brain.) So here's my idea. Keep blood and cursing to a minimum and make the game and characters as realistic as possible. (You'll might see that the scales aren't very detailed at all.)
I don't care how it looks but how it functions

What? sorry, your words got a bit jumbled up there...
But anyhow, im talking about the original trilogy... The whole ame of the game isn't to bash up a whole lot of idiots to move onto the next part, sure it was part of the game but it wasn't the whole idea

How about a movie based on a game? Cause the movie is based on the Legend of Spyro trilogy. (Would that make it a Game Movie?)
