Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Ophelia gasped as the dragoness sat up. "Oh, you're OK! Well, I hope so..." She was amazed of the fact that the dragoness had practically been crushed by heavy rubble and then sat up as if nothing happened. But as Ophelia looked closer she noticed that the dragoness had several nasty looking burns and a large scar on her face. One that wasn't bleeding at all...
Although Ophelia couldn't help but feel a little spooked about the dragoness, she leaned over the stone in front of her (since the chain had gotten caught and she couldn't climb) and grabbed the dragoness' arm and said, "Are you OK? I thought the worst had happened! Can you get up? Who are you?"

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Although she hadn't done it purposely, Ophelia had unwittingly put her hand over a burn on the underside of Lumistar's arm, one that couldn't be seen unless she lifted up her arm.
With a growl Lu leapt backwards and glared at the offender. She was quite shocked at what she saw; the white dragoness in front of her was pretty much emaciated, did Dayn starve his prisoners too?
Lu then realised that she had been asked a question so she spoke in a voice that was nearly a hiss, though it was a hiss of pain and not of anger.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Watching Lumistar fall through the newly formed hole, the group decided to take a break.
"Ah, we were so close to winning..." Jeren muttered as he lay there, trying to recover. He had taken a bit of a burn on his leg from the heat of Lumistar's fire - just a minor burn, at least the scales would fall off and regenerate. He might've taken more severe injuries had the explosion not occured. His wing was hurting, but he didn't feel like testing it out.
Serm's arm was in pain. Oh, well, he would just have to ignore it. He was reluctant to follow after Lumistar. Besides, she was most likely buried in rubble, surely she wouldn't be able to get out?
"Is everyone okay?" Marka asked. It was obvious that they weren't, and they ignored the question.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
"Oh! Did I hurt you. Sorry..." Ophelia wasn't sure if she'd hurt the dragoness, or that she simply didn't like being touched. She still felt pretty uneasy around her, and the fact that her wound was huge and yet didn't bleed made her feel worse. Also, she had noticed that when the dragoness spoke, her fangs were slightly bigger than most dragon's. Although she didn't see them well enough to be sure, Ophelia had an inkling... albeit a very small one.
She gave the dragoness a moment to compose herself, and happened to glance upwards at the hole in the floor. She frowned slightly - if her chain wasn't stuck, all she had to do was to leap upwards, out of the hole, exit the room and dart outside before they could catch her. And that would be it, she'd be free. Except she was even more trapped than she'd been before, and she also had the dragoness to help. She didn't begrudge that though, although the more she looked at her, the more nervous she got... Also, did the dragoness actually cause that explosion? Who exactly was she helping here? Those fangs...
After a moment, Ophelia leaned forward and and this time held out her hand so that the dragoness could take it if she chose to. "Can you move? We need to get you out of there. Here, let me help you."

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Lu growled slightly and her eyes flashed before she got a hold of herself.
"Trust me when I say it's better for you to not touch me..."
She was going to carry on when she noticed that there was something familiar about the white dragoness. Lumistar looked her in the eye for the first time, she was likely making it plainly obvious to the dragoness that her own eyes were unnatural but she didn't care, she wanted to find out what was familiar. After a second or two a thought occured to her, the dragoness' eyes seemed familiar and she vaugely remembered Busa mentioning a daughter...
"What was your Father's name?" She asked out of the blue.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Ophelia stood and blinked at the dragoness in surprise. "...I'm sorry, what?" Her father? What did her father have anything to do with her? But Ophelia couldn't help but wonder, why was she asking in the first place? Surely she had a reason to... didn't she?
"Um... His name was Busa, why?"

Serm could see some sort of light at the bottom of the hole. He also thought he was hearing noises, but he wasn't sure. He became dubious of Lumistar's apparent death. "Okay, let's see what's down there..."
With that, he launched a fireball into the hole to get a distinct view of the scene.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Lumistar was going to answer but she heard a fireball being shot and she knew that if they found her again they would fight her again.
"No time to explain, but you're coming with me..." With that Lu grabbed a hold of Ophelia's arm before allowing the shadows to wrap around her and the white dragoness before swallowing them just as the fireball exploded.
Using shadows like this was a weird feeling, though to a vampire it was exhilarating. The user and any passengers were wrapped in absolute darkness, not being able to see anyone or anything, even each other. It still felt like your body was whole, but in actual fact they had been melted into the shadows and were able to move through even the most tight of spaces and at incredible speeds. In order to move, Lumistar just willed her shadow to move and it would do so. For those watching on the outside it would just look like a strange creature-shaped shadow was streaking across the ground and into the night.
All of a sudden Lu released the shadows and she and Ophelia abruptly stopped, standing in exactly the same position as they were in the cell. They were about halfway across the plains, Lu hadn't been able to hold the shadows long enough to get all the way to the forest... she hadn't quite mastered it yet.
(Sorry if that was a slight God-mod Saph.)

MrX-Link wrote:"Sure, go on." Silver, who had been listening carefully, said. "I've heard of the War, yes, just a little piece of history to me, though. Didn't know you were actually in it... Must've been a hard time. But... why did the beasts agree anyway? It's that unexpected, can't be any good..."
Busa frowned and shook his head. "We were curious as to why they happily agreed too. We never thought such blood-thirsty creatures would agree to settle things at all, let alone through a battle. However, we hadn't seen what they were fully capable of. That was our mistake."
He stretched out his knee and sighed. "Training wasn't as long as it should've been - a number of months - but in that time I changed dramatically. I became much stronger, not to mention more mature. I think... I was in my late 20s when all this was going on. Still young, but it turned me into a man." He paused for a moment then continued. "Anyway, the time eventually. The army set up position in a huge valley. For a while there was complete silence. We thought they weren't going to show up. But then we heard them." Busa shuddered. "They had horrible, shrieking howls that sent a chill down your spine. The next thing we knew, they were right on top of us. Ambushed we were. And then--"
Busa suddenly stopped, placing his hands over his face and groaning, trying not to get upset.
[[I think you now all know what went wrong.]]
"You...lost?" Silver asked worryingly. "That'd have been harsh for you..."

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
'Nobody's down here, sir!' One of the surviving soldiers had dropped down, but been too late to even catch a glimpse of the shadow.
'Once again.' Dayn muttered, and then spoke aloud, 'There were five of you, and you were so incompetent I had to deal with my own assassin. Ridiculous.' Dayn shook his head, 'Get back up here and apprehend these four, under suspicion of conspiracy to murder.'
There was a pause, and then the two guards advanced on Jeren and Serm, who they now considered the most likely to object.

"But we had no idea she-"
"Very well, then," said Marka reluctantly, cutting off Jeren. "We won't fight, if only to show you we did not come here to."
"Gravius told us not to get arrested, or apprehended, or anything like that," warned Serm. "We didn't come all the way here and put up with all these stupid barbarians just for this."
"He has the poison, remember."
Reluctantly, the other two surrendered without any attempt at a struggle.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
OOC: The poison or the antidote? Also, Dayn resents the callous slaughtering of his men. It makes it hard for him to maintain hold on his empire.
'Take them down for questioning. No torture for now.' Dayn emphasised the "for now", and then mentally scowled himself for being so unprofessional. He sidled to the senior member of the surviving soldiers, 'Isolate them when you get to the dungeons. Try betrayl as leverage.' The man nodded stiffly, possibly angry at Dayn's overlooking of his dead men. Hopefully, he'd take it personally.
'Follow.' said one of the men, master of one-word conversation.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
((Nah, it's OK.))
Ophelia POV
Everything went black. Pitch black. Ophelia gasped. Had the fireball hit her? Was she unconscious? DEAD?! "W-What's going on? What are you doing?" She demanded, wondering whether Lu was actually still there. Was anyone with her? Ophelia started to panic. She couldn't even see her own hand in front of her face. Claustrophobia closed in on her rapidly, though she'd never had any problem with it before. She closed her eyes, hoping that it would end soon.
The next thing she knew, silvery light could faintly be seen through her closed eyes, and a faint breeze sent a small shiver down her spine. Where the hell was she? It certainly didn't feel like the damp, cold cells. Ophelia felt... different. She wasn't used to this feeling. Slowly and cautiously, she opened her eyes and gasped.
"W-What... What the hell did... How?" She burbled, still a little shaky.
Busa POV
((As soon as they're finished talking, I'll do a timeskip of a few hours so they can catch up.))
Busa regained himself, looked at Silver and shook his head solemnly. "There were no losers, but neither were there winners." He sniffed, tried to compose himself and then continued. "Yes, down the hills they came, frightening us with their howls. Before we had time to react they were within us. Oh Silver..." Busa shallowed and shook his head. "...The ways in which they killed... Oh my god..." Busa clutched his head again and groaned. Flashing through his mind were images he hoped he'd never have to see again. Images he'd tried so hard to forget. Now they all came flooding back, one by one. Busa shook his head aggressively. Leave me alone! He scolded them, I won't be defeated by you, beasts!
After a moment or two, Busa calmed down and continued. "What happened next is quite obvious. They killed us. One by one we fell, in some of the most horrific ways possible. What they had done to those poor villagers... Was only half of it. The powers they possessed were just unfathomable. Horrific, absolutely horrifying. And all I could do... was watch my friends die. I was seriously injured. I nearly ended up as one of the fallen."
Busa stretched out his body slightly and pointed to his stomach. A large horizontal scar stretched across his belly. "They did that to me. I remember... I lay dying in a pool of my own blood, mixed with that of the others soldiers. I couldn't get up, however hard I tried. Because..." Busa patted his left knee, "...I dislocated this very badly. Thought I'd never walk again, even if I did survive." Busa relaxed his body again. "It still plays up often, as you've seen several times. The rest of the battle was... just a blur. I lost consciousness, that's for sure. I remember waking up in a hospital wing, 2 weeks later. Couldn't believe that I was alive. Then I heard the bad news... There were 2000 of us at the start, double the number of vampires. After the battle, there were 100 of us left, me included."
Busa sighed and shallowed his nerves. "I was told that most of the survivors played dead to try and fool the vampires. Some of them succeeded, others didn't. Some just lost consciousness and were mistaken for dead, like myself. They eventually had their fill of killing, and they left the area, never to be seen until... Until today. We saw them return."

OOC: They gave Dayn the poison.
The group followed as ordered, none wanting to cause trouble. They were wary as always. I wonder how this will end... Jeren thought.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
OOC: Oh yes, I recall.
The captives were led by the senior guard down a few staircases into a bright, bustling room. The guard opened a door and nodded Bali in. He then went to another similiar door and nodded Jeren in, picking at random. He then called another two men to take the other two dragons into cells. 'Seperate cells.' The senior guard added sternly, earning a weary nod.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
"We're halfway across the Great Plains; I'm only a new vampire so I haven't yet mastered the art of bending shadows." She stated what she was very matter-of-factly, she saw no point in hiding it when it was obnvious that she wasn't normal.
She looked around, gauging where they were. Her night vision was infallible and she could see a large plume of smoke in the distance so she turned the opposite way from it.
"You think you can manage walking for a day or so? If you want an incentive I know where your father is and he is that-a-way, as well as a dragon called Silver who said he knew you." She pointed in the direction of the forest, which was a dark line across the horizon. She'd told a half-lie there, though she did know that Busa and Silver were in the forest, she didn't know where exactly.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Ophelia couldn't believe what she was hearing. One moment, she thought she'd never see Silver again, and doubted that her father was even alive. The next minute, she'd been told that both of them were alive and well and waiting for her somewhere in the forest. Her heart was in her mouth. He's alive...? No, he can't be... He disappeared... I never saw... Ophelia's eyes widened in sudden realisation, ...Of course, I never saw his body...
Her heart fluttered as she lowered her head and laughed quietly, trying not to embarrass herself. Oh my god... So all the time I've been banged up in there, he's been out there? I wonder if he was looking for me too? Is he still looking? Her small chuckle suddenly erupted into full-throtle hysterics. She was overcome with happiness, and now she didn't care if she looked like an idiot.
After some moments of unleashing her emotions, Ophelia stopped laughing and turned to Lu. Her huge smile faded as what Lu had said came back to her. Vampire. The word echoed in her head over and over again. Beads of sweat appeared on Ophelia's forehead and she started to breathe quicker. This was no ordinary vampire, neither was she an ordinary dragon. Ophelia had figured that last one out eariler, but fear kept her glued to the spot. This was a blood dragon.
She stopped walking altogher and faced Lu. She tried to put on a brave expression, but she couldn't stop trembling. "Don't come near me." She said, her voice quivering, "I don't want you to come near me. Stay away from me. Please."

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Lu blinked. Without pupils in her glowing red eyes the portrayl of emotions wasn't there, so Ophelia had no idea how much that comment had hurt her. All she would see was an eerie stare, whether it was meant to be or not.
She hadn't had the time to think it over before, but Lumistar didn't like what she had become. Despite the fact that she was trying to do good, it wouldn't change the fact that she was some form of demon. In fact, she hated what she had become.
Oh sure, the knowledge and vast amount of new things and abilities interested her to no end... but it was hollow now. Especially when she thought about the fact that she was going to have to live with this for the forseeable future...
First things first though, she had to get Ophelia back to Busa and Silver; she owed it to them. Lu realised that she had been stood there, staring at Ophelia for a few seconds and she shook her head slightly as if snapping out of a trance before speaking.
"Sure, I've already told you that it wouldn't be a good idea to touch me... Follow me then; a vampire sense of smell does have its uses when finding people..."
She regretted that immediately as it could be taken two ways. Either way, Lu started walking at a relatively slow pace. She felt something running down her face and went to wipe it away. It was blood. No, that couldn't be right, it didn't smell right... All Lu could guess was that it was some 'drained' blood, blood that her body had drained of all real nutrients so that it didn't smell appealing to her. It explained what the rain was before...
She wiped both eyes and sniffed before resolving not to cry blood if she could help it; that was the last thing Ophelia needed, judging by her irractic heartbeat at least.
"I doubt you care Ophelia, but I already know your name so you may as well know mine: it's Lumistar." She said without looking back.

'You'll be in here until we get the truth, now shut up. Interrogation will start later.' the senior guard nodded to himself and left the room to find his comrade who had also gained interrogation as a duty. It wasn't a bad job, better than most duties.

Well, tought Serm, I certainly wasn't relying on that one dragoness to be so weird, or for everyone else to be so stupid. I should've let her rip Dayn apart... if my arm wasn't so damaged, I could take on all of these dragons. So easily broken... eh, I'll just see how things turn out.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Ophelia's mind was racing, but the happy thoughts had ceased. She stood staring back at Lu, her body tense and ready to flee if she needed to. As Lu gave her a slightly disturbing stare, Ophelia stared back, refusing to do or say anything. She figured that it was time to stand up to her fear, she'd been hiding from her past for so long. Yes, the vampires had attacked her village, killed most of the inhabitants, and took her father away from her. But it wasn't Lu. Neither were the vampires dragons. They were... Ophelia didn't know what they were, but she could remember that they bared some resemblance to wolves...
She tensed at what Lu had said, but guessed that she didn't mean it maliciously. Well, she didn't think so. She next moment she heard Lu sniff. Is she crying? Ophelia didn't like upsetting people, and guilt washed over her like a wave. She began to follow Lu, albeit reluctantly, and eventually broke into a jog to catch up with her.
Are you OK? I didn't mean to upset you. It's just..." She hesitated, then sighed, "Never mind, it's complicated. But... I guess I should thank you. For realising me, and for taking me to Silver and my father." Those words seemed unreal to her, as if she was talking nonsense.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
"Yes, I was only sniffing to see if I could smell them yet. But I couldn't. I will have to take you to where I saw them last and see if I can pick up a trail from there." Lu glanced quickly at Ophelia again, she was going to suggest they fly but deceided against it. Not only was there a headwind, but she doubted Ophelia would be able to take the strain of flying.
Lu thought about what Ophelia said and she realised that as a vampire; she was complicated. Whilst she loved using her abilities and drinking blood, she hated the fact that she was killing. She had sworn to herself in the beginning that she wouldn't kill children and, if she could help it, dragons which she knew for certain had families. That was why what she had done in Dayn's office scared her; because she didn't know what she had done. She knew that there was that very young dragon in the room and that the Captain from before had a lifemate too, and she wasn't sure whether she had killed them or not.
If she could help it she resolved to also not lose herself in bloodlust again, though she doubted it would be that easy.
-----
Blitz meanwhile had been dismissed after taking are of the dead soldiers. He had then gone home to Aurora, not telling her anything about what had happened. Being a Guard for so long he had seen many terrible things and had learned to keep them to himself. What that vampire had been capable of scared him and if word got out there would be chaos, especially seeing as the vampire had gotten away... No, it was best to keep the information quiet.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
"Oh, right." Ophelia replied, although she wasn't sure if Lu was being truthful. She was starting to relax a little now - Lu certainly wasn't acting like a dangerous vampire. After all, if Lu had wanted to kill her, surely she would've done it by now? Furthermore, she knew her father, and had not harmed him. But then again, she had mentioned that she hadn't been a vampire for long... How long exactly had she been like this?
Her mind was buzzing with questions, but she decided not to ask Lu - she didn't want to upset her further, not that she meant to before. She kept hearing a loud *clunk* as she walked. Looking down she noticed that her chain was broken, but still attached to her left ankle. Now that she was a lot more active than she had been recently, she was beginning to realise just how uncomfortable it was.
"Um... Lu?" She asked shyly, "You don't think you can get this off for me, can you?" She lifted her foot and showed Lu the chain.

Re: Darkness of Blood (A Dark RP )
Lu turned around and looked at the chain.
"I'm not sure, but I'll try." Bending down Lu studied the chain; it was one of those huge, traditional ones. Lu honestly didn't know whether her strength increased when she was turned, but now was a good time to find out.
She tried pulling it apart, careful not to touch Ophelia's skin lest it tempt her. It just seemed to bend the metal out of shape slightly. An idea occuring to her she repeatedly yanked it in different directions, enlarging it slightly each time until her hands ached.
"Try pulling it out, I can't really bend the metal much more."
"The phoenix hope, can wing her way through desert skies. And still defying fortune's spite; revive from ashes and rise."
