A tentacle came out of the door and wrapped around Lumistar's neck

"Lu probarbly wants our blood if she'll get the chance, even if she doesn't really want to. It's incontrollable." he looked at Busa, realizing that if Lu was really a vampire now, she could be a danger for them, too.

Alright, it wasn't an illusion...

Lu tried writhing out of the grip of the tentacle, but it had a perfect strangle-hold on her. She was effectively dead anyway, so she didn't need to breathe, but she couldn't get any air in her lungs to scream or shout for help. On top of that it wouldn't take much for the tentacle to rip her head off.

Instead, Lu resorted to the only thing she could think of... she rammed her body against the door as hard as she could, hoping the snap the tentacle using the door.

A red slash came and the tentacle was severed. Before her stood Krucifi, and he looked really, really angry.

Lu skittered to the other side of the tunnel once the tentacle loosened from around her neck, she rubbed the area it had been wrapped around as she watched the tentacle twitch a few times then go still. She glanced up at her saviour, meaning to thank them.

Ooooooh sh1t...

It was Krucifi... If it had been Nino Lu wouldn't have been quite as intimidated, however with Krucifi it was different; his blood red, pupil-less eyes scared the hell out of her. It didn't matter if hers were exactly the same or not, Krucifi's just seemed to be all the more intimidating. Her posture slouched and her wings and tail drooped, it didn't take a genius to know that the winged wolf was angry and she knew exactly why. She had specifically been told not to go through the door, and she had anyway. Either way, she had no idea what to say to him.

She was about to say that she was technically already dead, but smartly kept her mouth shut. She glanced at the ground, in shame. However, a thought occured to her and she deceided to go with it.

"I heard a voice I recognised behind there." She said in a small voice. It was only a half-lie, after all she had only recognised Nithran's voice after she had gone through the door. "So I went to seek him out. I swear, it was him! But he was... different. He had mouths all over him and his eyes were red too. Though they were starting to go silver at the edges..."

Lu blinked in surprise and she started to go after Krucifi when she was reminded of the wound in her shoulder as she span around rather quickly. She glanced at it, only to find that it wasn't as bad as before... It seemed vampires healed fast as well.

She deceided to stay where she was, she wasn't any help, the state she was in. So instead she cautiously approached the open door a little.

"Krucifi?!" She said in a raised voice that wasn't quite a shout.

Lu didn't dare go inside, she could only assume that Krucifi was either talking to Nithran now, helping him or finding nothing. Either way she didn't want to be around when he came out, so she scarpered, heading upwards and to the third floor as she had been told to do earlier.

Busa had realised that before, but had never really given it any thought. True, once a vampire bit you, you became one of them whether you liked it or not. And yes, technically, Lu was dead. However, Busa hoped that he and Silver could prise what was left of her old self out of her new (supposedly) demonic self. But what Silver had said was right: Lu would likely try to kill them too...

"We can't let that stop us!" Busa declared. "We've lost Nithran; we can't lose Lu as well!" He suddenly froze and knelt down on the ground. "Footprints..." He said. "Of dragon's and wolves... Come on." He got to his feet and limped ahead.

"So what's Dayn like?" Serm asked. "What abilities does he have? What does he look like? Is he a strong warrior?"

Roark thought for a moment. What powers and abilities did Dayn have? If any? He had never seen him fight so he didn't even know his element.

All he knew was that when any creature crossed him, they were punished severly. He had a memory of someone he trained with, they graduated and became members of the Guard together. The dragon had messed up in a way that Roark wasn't sure off, as a result his friend's wings were removed... His friend didn't talk about it, and Roark didn't dare ask.
The only thing he did know was that Dayn was very smart, he was also an avid... scientist he called it? He had come up with a way to amputate limbs without the patient feeling pain, it was a good punishment and was a huge influence on Dayn's status; eveyone respected Dayn because they didn't actually know what he was capable of.

"Dayn is small in stature. However, he has massive resources at his disposal and he is smart. He has knowledge that commands respect." Roark considered their question. "There is no point in assessing his abilities. He always has at least eight trained bodyguards with him, and all have at least a decade of experience at fighting. If you decided to try and take what you need by force, or decide to snoop around, then you'll have no chance."

The huge dragon made Bali feel uncomfortable. She stopped straying and stuck closer to the other three.
"So you want us to-"
"No, I don't think he does," said Marka, cutting off Jeren. "So anyways, how does he expect us to act in front of him? Is there any elaborate ceremony we're supposed to do to avoid offending him or anything? Anything that would make him more inclined to listen?"

Roark was starting to relax in their presence a bit now, he swung his huge head around to look at Bali directly.

"I won't hurt you little one, I have hatchlings of my own." Roark was young, only a decade or so into maturity, but he already had a young family. He then looked at the others, they were starting to look less like young deliquents and more like youths in need of help now, he was starting to wonder how they had been brought up if they didn't know how to act in front of people of a high status. "Always be polite, remember that what he says goes, regardless of whether you think it is fair or not. Always make sure that when you ask him what you want that you don't make it sound like he has to comply, he tells you what to do not the other way around. Oh, and he has to address you first, once he has give a slight bow before speaking. You only have to bow once, despite things he isn't actually a King."

Bali was not convinced. "Leave me alone!" she ordered, while bearing her small fangs.
"But it's very important that we get the antidote we need!" said Jeren, irritated. "We've already wasted enough - ah, I guess we'll have to see how it goes." He then attempted several bows, all of them looking very awkward - one was more of a slouch, one made it appear that he was picking something up, and one seemed as if he just didn't care. The others could tell that the attempts were off, but were not trained in bowing themselves. "Err... may you please demonstrate?"

Roark blew a smoke ring at Bali, making it go around her head.

"You need to relax more." He then looked at the older ones. "Certainly."

Sweeping his tail in a wide half-circle he placed one arm around his back and the other across his sternum, then he bent forward without bending his knees while he splayed his wings out to the side. He realised his mistake immediately, his dislocated wing was on show now. However, he kept any discomfort completely off of his face.

"That is the proper manner to bow." After a moment's thought he decided to add: "However if, god forbid, you get on Lord Dayn's bad side you should do this..."

He then completely fell to his knees, splayed his wings so they were flat on the floor, curled his tail around him, placed his hands palms-down on the floor and rested his muzzle on top of them. After holding it for a second his stood again.

"When you have to bow like that do not make eye-contact. It is humiliating, I know first-hand, but it often placates him... I escaped with only a burning rather than an amputated hand after doing that." He then showed them the last third of his tail, it looked as if it had been dipped in hot oil... which it had.

The smoke ring attracted Bali's attention for a moment, before she was distracted by a colorful flower. Jeren growled at her, and she kept on track again.

Serm immediately took note of the dislocated wing. "What did you lose to for that wing?" he inquired. "Are you grounded? If so, how does it feel?" If this dragon was a wind dragon, then any necessary engagement would be an easy fight. But he just blew a smoke ring... maybe he was a fire dragon!

"And you just let them do that to you?" asked Jeren. He was beginning to think that Dayn might not be such an amicable character. Why would these barbarians treat each other like this? Weren't they all friends? Of course, they were all rather stupid, so he wasn't very surprised. "You shouldn't be so weak. You should stand up for yourself... anyways, I can already tell this meeting might not be the most pleasant... eh, anything else we need to know?"

Roark blinked for a second, seriously, where were these children brought up? Roark himself wasn't brought up in Dayn's lands, but he always knew how to act. The young male had just shown an incredible amount of ignorance and Roark wasn't so sure that it would turn out well for them all. He knew he wouldn't be able to change their beliefs and opinions if that was how they were brought up, but he was going to try if it would keep them out of imprisonment.

"We are not animals, so it has nothing to do with sticking up for myself. I did something wrong, that was the punishment, that's the way it is. I am not sure what Dayn did to bring himself to power, but to put it bluntly everyone respects him because they have no idea what he is capable of; I have never even seen him use an attack before, none of the Guard have. He uses the fact that we have no idea what he can do to his advantage, his Guards do most of his dirtywork for him, though sometimes he enforces his laws himself. When my tail was dipped in oil of course I tried to get away, its instinct; but I was restrained by four other Guards while Dayn himself dipped my tail.
Bear in mind that he is in a much more powerful position than you and you have no right to tell him how to do things just because you don't agree. If you do you will be punished."

He then curled his wings tightly to his back, before addressing Serm.

"I didn't lose to anything, we weren''t trying to win. We came across a group of dragons who were exploring a restricted area. They wouldn't obey commands to leave so we got a bit more forceful, but this skinny young male fell on a sharp piece of rock which pierced his chest and killed him. Next thing we knew the only dragoness in the group went berserk, maybe they were a couple, I don't know. Either way she wiped out more than three quarters of the guard with one fire fury attack. Of course my own element wouldn't do as much damage to me, so I got blown back into a wall and sustained the dislocation. I know how to fix it myself, but because it is such an important joint I decided to leave it and let a Healer do it. I don't want to trap the nerves or something which would ruin my wing altogether."

So he is a fire dragon... Serm thought. Considering how easily he was taken down, he wouldn't be too much of a problem...

"HAH! So many guards taken out so easily by a dragoness!" Jeren laughed heartily. "Maybe Dayn should get guards that can actually... well, guard! I certainly wouldn't trust them to-"
"Be quiet, you might hurt his feelings!" cut off Serm. "He probably feels bad enough for the thrashing he's taken."
"I'm sorry, it's just that, if most of Dayn's power comes from those under his control, and they die so easily... then how powerful is he really? Anyways, we promise not to try to do anything we shouldn't do, or at least we'll try."

He was about to stop speaking when he thought of something else to ask. "Why live under such abuse? Why not just fly - er, run away somewhere else and be in peace? Just blindly listening to someone and giving them your complete service, only to be punished for the slightest slip-up... just doesn't make sense."

We underestimated her so when she unleashed the attack we were all literally right next to her with no room to get out of the way. I highly doubt even a champion fighter would have gotten away without some form of injury."

They were coming to the end of the forest and the start of the grassland, it was opening out.

"For protection." He stated to Serm simply. "There are worse things than Dayn out there, the empire he has built up prevents said enemies from attacking even if its just intimidation. On top of that we are one of the most advanced areas there is, you can find the best medical care there as well as armor and weapons. The bodyguards he brought with him to the ruins weren't his best, those he has left to guard his castle.
As for Dayn himself, just the fact that we have no idea what he can do prevents an uprising. Tell me, would you just run and attack something without observing it first to see how to beat it? I think not. On top of that, despite his cruelness sometimes Dayn is a good leader; because of his brains he has led us through some tough times."
