Making a noise somewhere between a squeak and a growl she leapt sideways while at the same time she let loose a burst of fire. Her fire had... changed, instead of being orange and phenomenally bright it was now a much darker orange and there was barely any glow at all. Grasping the wall halfway between the ceiling and the floor she hissed at him.

"Seriously Nithran, it's me Lumistar. Last time you pretended to not know me we nearly burnt Fenris' scrolls up!"

After a while, the group had come to what appeared to be the forest that Marka had mentioned. The rain was dying, and they decided to rest under the cover of the first spot they could find that provided decent cover from it. They took the opportunity to dry themselves as best as they could (although Bali didn't care much).

"Remember, only a short break..." Jeren reminded.
"If we find anyone, we'll ask where Dayn is," said Marka.

They rested a little more before moving on, to begin their hunt.

"I have no idea who this Fenris is." Nithran responded as he avoided the fireball with ease. His speed seemed to match hers now. He shot another red orb while attacking with this mutated arm

Lu shot a fireball at the red orb to counteract it while at the same time she dodged the tentacle again. It was a good job Nithran wasn't closer, or else she wouldn't have dodged it... She then tried to bite down on the tentacle as it shot past her.

Roark came across a kind of alcove, inside the grass was flattened, obviously from a great number of dragons resting there. It had to be the rest of the Guard, not many other dragons travelled in such numbers unless they were refugees. He ran on again.

After another few minutes he became aware of a shuffling in front of him, he broke into a sprint. His inexperience showed now, because he was so convinced that it was the rest of the Guard that he didn't stop to think that he was making an awful lot of noise and that it may in fact not be the Guard at all...

Nithran cackled once she did bite down, flying towards her as he turned his other arm into a tentacle.

"I wonder why we haven't seen anything yet..." Serm said.
"Maybe everything's creeped out by the rain?" Jeren suggested. "It certainly isn't like what it's supposed to be..."
"Maybe it's because you two are so loud when you speak," said Marka. "If you were just a little - hold on, I thought I heard something. Stay still."

At that moment, the three became aware of several rustling sounds coming towards them.

"Wonder if it's anything good to eat!" said Jeren. "Sounds big, by the sound of it..."
"Let's chase it down before it gets a chance to run away!" Serm said.
"It's coming this way, I think we should wait," said Marka. "Maybe it's a dragon."

So they waited patiently.

Roark nearly ran headlong into a green dragon, almost as tall as he was. Roark himself was quite tall in stature, that was one of his best assets. He had pretty much no real elemental power, but he was physically strong. They were just a bunch of kids...

"You're not the Guard..." He said, stating the obvious. He then mentally shook himself and put on a more authorative voice. "This land is under the control of Lord Dayn, state your business here because trouble-makers will not be tolerated on his lands."

Groups as large as this always meant trouble...

If her mouth wasn't full of the disgusting tentacle, Lu would have cussed... Had the process of changing her into a vampire completely dissolved her manners too?
The other tentacle hit her in the shoulder, sending her flying halfway back down the tunnel. She'd had a pretty good grip on the tentacle with her new and improved fangs, so she hoped she'd left some deep scours in it or something... She tried to get to her feet and she managed it, though she was in more pain than she thought she would be. She hadn't thought she was invincible, but she would have thought she were more resistant to pain now. There was a large gash on her left side, running through muscle and halfway through her shoulder blade, it was quite weird seeing the skin hanging open but with no accomplanying blood. The pain was horrible, and though no blood loss would make her dizzy, the pain did.

I think it's time to take my leave...

"I don't know what's wrong with you, Nithran. But OK, I'll leave. Will you come with me?"

Deep down Lu was happy that her friend was OK, even if he himself never really treated her like a friend in return. She still harboured a little hope that he was really still winding her up.

The face of the three older dragons lit up. "So you know where we can find him?!" Jeren asked enthusiastically. "We are looking for an antidote to a certain weapon poison, and we were told that Dayn might know something about it... or something like that."

Roark blinked thrice in succession, that certainly wasn't the response he was expecting...

"Lord Dayn does not often have the time to speak to... children. What is it you want the antidote for?" He spoke as if from a script and in a monotone voice, betraying none of his feelings. Though he was curious of these strange youngsters, usually when addressed like that they were all jittery and defensive.

"We want it for curing ourselves in case we become afflicted by the poison," Jeren said in a tone that somewhat betrayed his disdain at the question with an obvious answer. In the meanwhile, Serm was analyzing the guard. Quite large, but could probably be brought down with team effort if need be. He hadn't fully recovered from his last fight, though, and didn't know this guard's element, so it was best to play it safe for now...

"Anyways, can he find some time to speak to us?" Jeren asked, in a serious tone. "We'll speak to him whenever he has time for us."

((Why has Dayn imprisoned Ophelia? Any paticular crime you had in mind, or am I making that decision?))

Dayn's little troupe continued on at a swift pace, the twins investigating at an impressive pace, hardly detracted from the potential speed at all. Suddenly, one turned his head, and his twin immediately followed suit.
'There. That could be them.'
'Who?' Dayn squinted in the direction the twins pointed.
'We caught some movement. We will have to sprint to catch up.'

Lu looked at him and she couldn't help but give him a skeptical one. She wanted to believe him, but her insticnts seemed to have been heightened now.

And something told her not to trust him.

"Let's go then. You first." She said icily and she waited for him to walk past her. She remained tense, ready to dodge and bolt at the slightest notice.

Well, that was another unexpected reponse... and did Lord Dayn actually have the time to see them? Roark didn't know, and he couldn't exactly find out now. Well, there was only one thing for it.

"I think it best if I take you to him myself, and he can deal with you as he sees fit. Stay close, do not wander."

He then began walking west again, in the direction of Dayn's castle. He kept his wings tucked tightly into his body, so that the others wouldn't be able to see the dislocated outer limb. Another thing he had been taught was to not show any weakness to potential enemies.

((How about impeding an officer of the law in his duty. A drunk corporal comes out and starts berating an innocent. Ophelia intervenes, and ends up hitting the officer. She is detained and imprisoned. Ophelia gets an honourable mark in her favour, and Dayn is displayed as a little less caring.
Dayn and his little group have seen Busa and Silver. That is to say, only the twins have seen them. So they still have the better part of a kilometre to make up. The twins might even be lying, if I change my mind.))

Lu eyed Nithran; true she always could physically take him down; but he had greater elemental ability than her and he was much more ruthless.
She noticed that he didn't quite seem as frail as he had before. True, he was stupidly thin as usual, but he held himself differently... Nope, no chance.

"I learnt quickly from my time with you that I should never fully trust you. So no chance." The last part came out in almost a hiss. She calmed herself down slightly. "Now, are you coming? Or are you going to carry on with your voodoo magic?"

"Deal with us?" Marka asked warily. "Did we do anything wrong?" Nevertheless, the group, glad to finally have a lead on Dayn, followed obediently (though it was hard to get Bali to stay on track and not stray). Serm noted the positioning of his wings. Maybe he didn't want them to get damaged by scraping against branches? Maybe he was a wind dragon.

Lu screamed then, a very loud and girly one. For a split second she was falling into nothing, but then instinct kicked in and she let out a burst of flame straight down into the mouth that was 'swallowing' her. The force of the flame erupting from her throat pushed her upwards and her back collided hard with the ceiling. She flopped onto solid ground a little ways away with another thud, a shower of dust and small rocks coating her.

Now in a panic, she was beyond rational thoughts. She ran for the door as fast as her legs could carry her; she reached it in less than a second and threw it open before escaping to the other side and slamming it behind her. She stood there panting and holding onto the handle for support, not because she needed it, but because she was so frightened.

She wasn't sure whether that really was Nithran, or just some elaborate illusion which sprang up when vampires got too nosey. Either way, she was never going in there again...

Roark walked on without talking, he didn't know what to say to the group anyway without looking unprofessional.

They eventually headed out of the forest and into more open grassland, he knew where he was now, the castle was on the other side. However, it was a long walk. It only took half a day to fly over it, but on foot it would take around 2. An idea occured to him.

"What are your names? I will have to know them if I am to get you presented in front of Lord Dayn."

Busa POV

"Yes, my thoughts exactly." Busa said, quickening his pace slightly. He was still in a daze, constantly reminiscing his short time with Ophelia. Her sweet little face... large blue eyes just like his own... her shy and timid personality. She hardly ever left her father's side. "Come on." He said to Silver, snapping out of his mini trance. "We must retrieve Lu. God knows what they're doing to her... Say, Silver..." He added on cautiously, "Did you notice anything... odd about Lu?"

((Yes Ace that sounds good. Sounds like something Ophelia would do. And seeing as A Guy's characters are gonna get there soon, I'm gonna give Ophelia her début post.))

Ophelia POV

Sitting alone in her cold, dark cell, a white dragoness who went by the name of Ophelia sat in a daze, staring weakly at the stone wall.

The cell was hardly spacious, not that she could make much use of it - her leg was chained to the wall. Her stomach growled loudly and she felt sick, yet a tray of food had been slid under the bars for her to eat a short while ago. But she didn't feel like eating. Not at the moment.

For several years she had been there, a sentence for "assault". All she had been trying to do was to help a fellow citizen who himself was actually being assaulted. Little did she know was that the dragon she had snapped at and given a lovely gash on his face, was a guard for the pompous 'Lord' Dayn. So much for justice...

Ophelia wrapped her arms around herself for comfort as she listened to the rain outside. It had been very heavy for the past hour, and it was calming now. Still, she wanted nothing more than to feel the rain on her shoulders. Soothing rain...

She wondered how long her sentence was going to go on. She'd actually lost count of the years. Not too many, but enough to make her lose herself. She had become a lot more bitter than she used to be, and hoped that Dayn and his guards would be punished for their deeds.

More than anything, she missed her best friend Silver. And her father...

"Why are our names necessary?" Jeren spoke on behalf of the group, and they were unsure of whether to trust the dragon with their names, even though they did not see the harm. But they did not see the harm, so they obliged.

"I'm Jeren."
"I'm Serm."
"I'm Marka. Go ahead, Bali."
"I'm Bali."
"Now, if you would just grace us with your name..." Serm asked.

"I need your names because if you were known convicts then you wouldn't be allowed in front of Lord Dayn." He replied irritably, he would have thought that was obvious. He was going to add a snippy reply of how they didn't need to know his name... but he decided against it, for a reason he couldn't place. "I am Roark, one of Dayn's bodyguards."

"We would never dream of attacking people and taking their supplies... or anything bad, for that matter..." Jeren falsely reassured. "Anyways, when do we get to meet him? We don't have much food left, and we didn't even get to start our hunting trip before you came." He asked this question as he felt the initial stages of the hunger he had become accustomed to.

Roark was hungry as well, but he had been taught to deal with hunger in his training.
