Lu was now completely still, no longer moving at all. It was quite obvious, if one listened out for her heartbeat or breathing, that neither were there anymore.

Dayn froze, squinting slightly, running current conditions under what he defined as "possible". He grudgingly decided it was possible, and should therefore be paid attention. He looked around him, and then bent down to tap the floor. It was solid stone, and Dayn felt a little foolish for a moment. He hazarded a hand in front of him. He quite carefully neglected to look at his new vial, because it was simply too overdramatic. Certainly, a liquid couldn't have an effect like this. Of course not.

Dayn sighed, and returned to the vial, prodding it. Wondering at his own callousness, he dipped the end of his claw into the liquid.

Forgive who, exactly, Dayn wondered. He tapped himself on his head, frowning. Voices in his head. To hell with that! He spun on his heel, set his jaw, and walked determinedly to the door. He may be forced into insanity, but he was certainly not going to let it take over his life.

"She'd better." Busa growled as he began to practically drag Lu across the ground. She had lost consciousness. Fear gripped Busa as he easily picked her up of the ground and slung her over his shoulder. Thankfully his physical strength hadn't deteriorated over time, unlike his speed and pretty much everything else. "We need to get her to the cave, and fast."

As Busa attempted to go back in the direction he came, his knee completely lost all support and collapsed. He struggled to get himself off the ground, with his knee throbbing horrifically and the limp Lu practically on top of him. He swore violently, smacking his fists into the ground. "SILVER! HELP ME D@MN IT!" He bellowed in a rage, then thought better of it - Silver was trying to help after all. "Sorry. Could you... perhaps grab her bottom half and we'll carry her together? This d@mn knee..." He swore again and eventually stood up, placing more weight on his good knee. "Keep going, I'll be fine." He said, limping forward.

Dayn continued up the cold, rock stairs, and shunted open his archive door. Mauren stood up snapping shut her book in an effort to stand to attention. In a scholarly trait, however, she had stuck her finger inside the book to keep her page. Dayn noted the comic effect of two habits against each other, and tucked it away for use later.
'Have you found anything?'
'Well, there's a lot of general prophesising relating to rains of blood, but it all seems like a load of monkey toenails, if you ask me... Sir.'
'Nothing of real interest?'
'Not paticularily, sir.'

Silver nodded and did as Busa told him. He carried Lu together with him and tried to find a place where she could take some rest normally. Thinking of the failure of his healing ability at the same time, he asked: "You know a safe place?".

"The cave." Busa replied simply, trying not to fall over again. He pressed his lips together to avoid roaring in pain. He eventually resorted to dragging his knee along behind him. The sooner we get there, the better... "Come on, let's move quicker. I can barely see in this wretched rain..."

Directly in front of them, a sign that was written in blood said something akin to 'SHE'S DEAD, MOVE ALONG'.

Serm slowly woke up. He felt tired, and hurt, "Look, I think he's waking up."

Serm slowly opened his eyes. It pained him just to get on his feet, but he decided that he wasn't going to just relax and laze about while there was a mission to do. He had lost a second fight in a row. He needed to shape up...

"So how'd the fight go?"
"I got some of the poison off one of the daggers and scratched him... didn't get his legs, though, and he ran off. Hope we don't need it again, wouldn't want to have to use all of it." Jeren looked around a bit, feeling somewhat uneasy by this unnatural rain. Wasn't water supposed to be clear? He came to the conclusion that someone must be coloring it somehow. He wasn't sure how, but then again, these barbarians were weird...

"We have to find Dayn. So if we keep going in the direction we came from... this land is owned by him, right?"
"Well, I certainly can't look for him, too hard to see up there." Marka recalled the terror of getting lost in the red rain. "Why not let him find us?"
"We don't have time for that. Let's just keep going and we'll find someone that knows. Bali, follow us."
They began to leave, Serm ordering Bali back into line when she wandered off.

(Just to let you guys know, my Nanna died an hour ago, at about half five. I'm more relieved than upset; she's been ill for a while, so don't worry about me. I'll be online tonight, but over the next few days my 'online status' may be a bit erratic because I dunno when the funeral will be and there'll be the undertaker visiting the house and stuff.)

"WHAT KIND OF SICK JOKE IS THIS?!" Busa bellowed, collapsing to his knees and slamming his fist into a tree. "THE BASTARDS! SHE'S NOT DEAD! SHE'S NOT!" He struggled to his feet and gently lay Lu on the floor. His entire body crackled with Electricity. The slightest touch would be very painful.

He turned to Silver with gritted teeth. "I won't let them taunt us any more. This is their game, and I'm going to end it. Silver, take Lu to the cave. There is a flask of water in my pouch - use it to wash her wound and then do whatever you can. I'll return when I've taught those evil beasts a lesson."

"But..." Enough, Silver. Leave him, and as soon as he needs help you'll be there. Silver calmed himself. "Allright then, if it's really that important to you I leave..." he said, dragging Lu with him cautiously, trying to hurt her as little as possible. As he read the new sign that appeared, he had enough of it. "SHE IS NOT DEAD!" he roared, then did as Busa told him to, whispering softly to Lu, (or Lu's body, he didn't know) "Don't let yourself go..."

Busa's BIG temper snapped. He picked up a large rock and hurled it at the sign, smashing it. "YOU MAKE ME SICK!" He screamed over and over again for some time. "LU ISN'T DEAD! I WON'T LET HER DIE! IF SOMEONE REALLY MUST DIE HERE, THEN LET IT BE ME!"

He gasped loudly and tried to get his breath back. His old heart pounded with such force that Busa thought it would bounce out of his chest. Beads of sweat cascaded down his forehead, followed by tears. "GIVE HER BACK! GIVE ME BACK MY OPHELIA!" He screamed.

This time, something else came from the trees. It looked like a dragon skull. Another sign came down that said 'FINE, HERE SHE IS. NOW WILL YOU ACCEPT THAT 'LU' IS DEAD? AND VAMPIRES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IDIOTS?'

Dayn...... the voice whispered as a figure could be seen behind the ones who he was talking to. It started to walk towards him, the rattling of chains echoing with every footstep.

"You liars... You sick, twisted liars... Why must you torment me so?!" Busa growled, his body crackling viciously. "You've done this before. You enjoy it, don't you? Tormenting people. Is it fun? YOU MAKE ME SICK!" He bellowed again, absent-mindedly firing Electricity beams into the undergrowth. "COME OUT YOU COWARDS! COME WHERE I CAN SEE YOU!"

'Well, uh, keep- keep looking. And send- someone down if you, uh, need me.' said Dayn, trying very hard to ignore whatever apparition his mind had conjured up. He turned sharply and decided he needed to lie down. He slunk down further up his citadel to his bedroom, and locked the door behind him. Then he went and sat on his bed.

The darkness was still there, but Lumistar was suddenly aware that she herself was actually aware of her environment. Someone was dabbing at her neck with a wet cloth or something, it hurt slightly, but it wasn't unbearable.
She heard someone, maybe the same someone, talking to her. However, she couldn't make out the words; it was like she was buried and her ears were full of dirt. With a jolt she then suddently became aware or something startling.
She didn't have a heartbeat.
How could she not have a heartbeat and yet still be thinking? Oh, maybe she was dead then...
Lu listened more. She could hear another, harsher voice farther away. But couldn't work out who it was or what they were shouting at. She then realised that she was quite uncomfortable for some reason, but she couldn't quite place what was wrong. Her mental strength was strong, she was under no disillusion anymore due to bloodloss, so she figured that she must definately be dead; but physically she felt weak. It felt like she had been basking in the Sun too long, gaining that uncomfortable burning feeling as her scales reacted with the Sun's rays. She tried to shift her body away from it, but her muscles wouldn't react... Brilliant.
She concentrated on whoever was dabbing at her neck wound for a few minutes. The coolness felt nice, though not on the wound itself, on her burning skin. Her sense of smell came back then. She could smell all of the usual things she could when she was alive; plants, dirt, she could even smell Busa and Silver so she guessed that she was in the cave. There was a strange metallic smell too, it reminded her of what the red rain had smelt like, but it was more pungent, it almost disgusted her. On top of that though she could smell something like she had never smelt before. She couldn't describe the smell, just like she couldn't describe the taste of water. However, when you taste water, you know that you need to have it. This smell was the same, something was telling her that she needed to have it.
Suddenly it was like flipping a switch, she was pulled out of the earth and her eyes flew open. She was facing the entrance to the cave and the Sun must have been shining in her eyes because it felt like they were on fire. With a shriek she leapt backwards and into the shadows of the cave, rubbing at her eyes.

"Woah, when did the rain stop? How long have I been out?" She asked in a rush, she guessed that it had been Silver who had been looking after her. Still rubbing at her eyes the questions kept on coming: "Did you get that thing that attacked me? And where's Busa?"

Because she was rubbing at her eyes she failed to realise that she had leapt right to the back of the cave in a single bound, something which would have been completely impossible for her earlier without the use of her wings.

The figure walked right through the door that Dayn locked. It was very shadowy, so it was impossible to see the features.

As soon as Lu woke up, a voice came from outside, "She's finally awoken. I don't think you want to deal with her anymore..." a female voice said.

"Well eh... you've been unconcious for a pretty long time. Not for days or something, but surely hours. And the Blood creatures have severely wounded you, which I was unable to heal." Silver said, with a weird, yet happy face. "Quite weird actually, that I couldn't heal you and you're back now. Busa is after the rest of the bloods, who have been torturing him with signs that you're dead." Or...is she? As he noticed the distance Lu jumped, he was amazed. "W...What? Why did you do that? No... HOW did you do that?" he asked, unsure if it was just his imagination or it really happened. He had the feeling something was not allright about Lu, but then blamed himself for his thoughts and just thought about the fact that she had come back. "You need to rest." he confirmed.

At the same time, he had been thinking about Busa's words. Talking about an Ophelia. Could it be...?
