"Of course we come with you, Busa. We won't leave you alone with those blood-thirsty monsters. Let's go get them!" Silver tried to encourage the three of them, trying to give them more hope and scare their fear away. Not that it worked for himself, though.

Busa knew that they had made their minds up, so he decided that it would be pointless to try and stop them. He sighed. "All right then, but if I say to go, YOU GO." He said sternly. "OK?"

Trying to control his temper, he clutched his blade and stepped outside slowly, into the red shower. Yes, he was deathly afraid of them, but he couldn't let his fear get the best of him. Those killers would pay for the pain they caused him... "Stay close." He told the youngsters behind him. "COME ON THEN!" He called into the undergrowth. "Come out here! I have one or two things to do to you... Like rip your throats out!"

Jeren, realizing that Marka might be lost in the rain, decided to move some distance away. He felt the charge weilling up in him, and then let loose a beacon of lightning into the sky to signify his presence. It was a bit off, but the accuracy wasn't so important here.

Marka took note of the signal, wary of it at first, but soon deciding that any direction would be good. She sought out the source.

Lu's head snapped in the direction of the sound, she tensed to run after it but then decided it best if Busa lead the way. She growled again in her chest.

Busa saw Lu move. "I heard it too. Quiet please." He listened as hard as he could for any more sounds. All he could hear was the red rain hitting the floor and his own deep breaths. He was torn - should he go and investigate the sound, or should he stand his ground? What if it was a trick? "Stay." He said, raising his dagger. "Stand your ground. I know they're here..."

Silver remained silent, but he wouldn't listen to Busa, since that bang was only a reason to follow him. The red liquid dripped from his chin, like he just had killed someone. All he did was stare in the direction the sound came from, trying to find anything suspicious.

Nothing answered them, but another bang came from deeper in the forest. It had a faint echo, as if it was underground.

Again, Busa was torn between what to do. He shared the same view as Lu - the rain was making it harder to see, and he would rather not fight in it. In fact, he would've rather not fight at all, but sometimes the circumstances demanded it.

What should I do? He thought, What if they're trying to trap us? I'd hate to be the one who puts Lu and Silver in danger... He didn't care what happened to him, but if someone else died because of him, he'd never forgive himself. On the other hand... Perhaps they are unaware that we are here, and if we got WE can trap THEM...

He swore in frustration and turned to Lu and Silver. "...I'm going." He said, "I have more of a duty to face them than you two have. Go and shelter in the cave. I'll... probably come back to you later. If I don't, assume the worst and move on." At that, he wandered off into the undergrowth towards the sound. Oh well... you've waited for this chance for 20 years - why waste it now?

Lu writhed, trying to free herself from her kidnapper's grip, the shadows had disoriented her and she didn't know where Silver and Busa were in comparison to her, so even if she freed herself she wouldn't know where to run. She opened her mouth to scream...

The bite hurt, and despite the claw over her mouth, Lu screamed anyway. It would have been hard to hear, but it wasn't silent.
She wasn't completely naive; she had heard the stories about the blood dragons and knew what the creature behind her was doing now, so she struggled harder. Her horns started to glow cherry red as she tried to heat her body up, though it was always something that took a while unless she was angry, and anger was the last thing on her mind right now.

Busa's head snapped round as soon as he heard a muffled scream. Silver was there, but no Lumistar...

Terrified, he ran - or tried to - towards Silver. "What happened?! Where is she?! TELL ME!" He bellowed, his bad knee starting to hurt. But before even waiting for an answer, he staggered into the undergrowth - he knew very well what'd happened. He'd seen it all before.

As his knee flared up in pain, he tottered through the crimson-tinted trees. Thorns ripped at his scales drawing blood, but he didn't care one bit. He would NOT let them hurt Lu. In fact, he hoped that they would turn their attention to him - anything to keep Lu out of harm's way.

He called her name several times, not caring if he was drawing attention to himself. "I'M COMING!"

Lu could hear Busa, but either he was going the wrong way or she becoming faint, either way she couldn't get out of the grip of whoever had her and she couldn't crane her neck to see it. Black fur. That was all she could see from the corner of her eye.

Her attacker violently ripped its fangs from her neck and tossed her to the ground, "This will be so much fun...your blood is tasty..." it said before leaving.

Lu staggered to her feet. She felt dizzy, the edges of her vision were blurry and she could barely stand. She felt blood running down her neck from the bite-wound that was there, but she was too tired to worry about it.
She looked around. She was in a little clearing, a little ways behind where they had walked through before. The cave entrance was just out of sight. She could hear her name being called.

"Busa?" She tried to make the question into a shout, but she found that her voice was quite weak. She just wanted to have a sleep.

Blood was drizzling down Busa's hide from his cuts, but he didn't care. He fought his way through the trees, repeatedly calling Lu. If they've killed her... I'll rip their faces off. The bastards... I'LL MAKE THEM PAY! He suddenly stopped dead as he heard someone calling his name weakly. "LU? I'M COMING!" He called back, following the sound.

He arrived at a small clearing, and sighed in relief when he saw Lu. But his fear returned as he looked at her. She was in a bad way. Her neck was bleeding violently, and she could hardly stand.

Without saying a word, Busa rushed to her and put his arm around her and tried to edge her upright. "SILVER!" He bellowed at the trees. "COME HERE!" He held Lu close and tried his best to comfort her. "It's all right Lu. You're OK, it's over now. I'm here."

It wasn't over.
Lu didn't reply. She felt like she was falling backwards and she could only see shapes now. She thought that the blood dragon had drained all of her blood? From the warm feeling in her neck it obviously didn't, though she didn't think she had much left.
She could barely see now, and if anyone looked at her eyes now, her pupils would be fully dilated with only a very thin line of green where her iris' had been.
She opened her mouth to say something, but she soon forgot what as her mind suddenly felt all fuzzy and she went limp in Busa's arms.

My god... Lu's wound was worse than Busa had thought. Looking at it, he realised that it was very deep, and seeping blood all the time. It was unlikely that she would stay conscious for long in this state...

The next moment, Busa had to fight to keep Lu standing. "You must stay awake Lu! Look at me and tell me, what's your favourite colour?" He babbled desperately. Anything to keep her awake. If she lost consciousness... Busa doubted that she would make it. "SILVER!" He roared again. "COME AND HELP US!"

Favourite colour? Right now it was red, though she couldn't quite place why.
Things seemed to be going quieter for her. She was aware that her body was trying to stand up, but in her mind she wasn't aware that she had even ordered her body to do so. Maybe a sleep would do her good? The rational part of her mind told her to stay awake, but the rest of her mind was overruling it, so she let it.
Her eyelids felt heavy. So she closed them.
Breathing seemed hard, a chore if you will. So she willed herself to stop.
Her heartbeat seemed loud in her ears, why wouldn't it just quieten down? Oh, wait. It did. Completely.
It was like a light was turned off in her mind, one minute there was fuzzy static. Then everything went black.

Silver ran towards Lu from behind Busa. "Oh, curses!" was the first thing he said, upon seeing Lu's wound. "Let me try, Busa." he laid his paw on the bloody wound like he did before to heal Lu. Weirdly enough, it did not work effectively. Blood dripped from his claws on the cold ground. "Grr... why doesn't it work?" he whispered, staring at Busa with a worried face. "You think she's gonna make it?"

Dayn gently tapped his set of vials, pondering. In some cases, the liquid would react almost identically to water, in others it resembled blood, and then again, in one or two cases, the crimson rainwater reacted in ways he had never seen. He'd dropped a lead ball infused with magnesium strings, and the liquid had actually solidified! Fascinating, Dayn thought, a bemused smile resting upon his lips. He wasn't going to drink it though. One didn't go around drinking strange liquids for fun if one had a will to live.

'Right then.'

Dayn spun on his heel and strode to the door of his cosy little laboratory. He had to see what the archives had to say. Crimson rain. It certainly didn't happen every day.
