Question reguarding GBA and DS Spyros....

Why didn't they put Spyro: Season of Ice, Spyro: Season of Flame, Spyro: Attack of the Rhynocs, Spyro Orange: The Cortex Conspiracy, and Spyro: Shadow Legacy on to the Playstation 2? They put TLoS on Gameboy, DS, and playstation, why not these games?  They couldv'e made better sales if they did.

Re: Question reguarding GBA and DS Spyros....

Well TLoS was meant to be for consoles but was created for handheld systems additionally, not the other way around.

And besides, TLoS is different from true Spyro anyway.

Shadow Legacy was meant to be for PS2, but they scrapped that idea and used elements from that to create TLoS, instead making Shadow Legacy a lesser DS game. Anyone noticed that SL and TLoS both have combat? Multiple breaths? Love? A dragon that was controlled to be evil then turned good? Elders who teach Spyro things in a dojo?

Shadow Legacy could have been kind of cool on a console I think. I wish they would have gone that direction instead.

I just can't see the GBA games on consoles, though. I liked them, but they didn't seem like they had enough to actually make it on a big screen for some reason. But I can't come up with any good reason why. =/

Because they were too similar to the console games?

Think about it. In Season of Ice, Spyro had to free fairies who had been trapped in ice.

Like in the first game, but it was with dragons and crystal.

In Season of Flame, he had to collect fireflies because they gave the dragons power.

And he had to collect dragonflies in Enter the Dragonfly because they were connected to the dragons' power also.

See what I mean?

Yeah, exactly, and that's why I don't know why I can't picture them as console games. They're so similar I should be able to just picture YoTD or something with slight modifications. But it's like they're missing something that makes them just as good, and I can't place what it is. Oh well. tongue

Re: Question reguarding GBA and DS Spyros....

One of the reasons why GBA Spyros were made is to obviously broaden their copyright and brand of Spyro (back when Vivendi Games was Universal) to a new audience who are willing to play games for the casual or hardcore players who know Spyro very well. I bet newcomers want to play him or herself as a dragon, burning creatures while exploring and collecting gems, and doing different tasks that stretch the playability of the game. And as all of you may know, this is after Isonamic lost the rights of the mascot for their own reasons. Were you one of the people who found out Spyro the Dragon by playing one of those GBA games? ;o

Re: Question reguarding GBA and DS Spyros....

Well, I was talking about the reason why these games existed.

If you really want to know an answer, this is during the time Check Six studios was creating Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, and after the failure attempt to bring Spyro in the gaming consoles, he was now restricted to appearing GBA games until Spyro: Hero's Tail arrived. To tell you the truth -- what kind of studio would properly handle Spyro for game consoles, back then? It's their own decision, not ours. sad Think of that question.
