Lumistar had just booted the guard in the face to get him off of her, but Busa shouting at her seemed to snap her out of a trance of sorts. Like a light going out, her horns stopped glowing and she blinked and looked slightly confused.
She rolled onto her stomach and only just registered the shaking of the ground before she realised that she hurt. Mostly in her chest and in her mouth and all she could taste was blood. She spat out a big glob of it and forced herself to her feet, she spotted Busa and made her way over to him.

"What's happening?" She pulled a face; her voice was hoarse. What had she been doing when she was in a rage? She could remember shooting the guards with a shockwave and then some snippits of fighting, but she couldn't remember exactly what she had been doing. She must have been snarling a lot...

"An earthquake perhaps?" The tremors were getting more intense. He noticed that Lu was hurt. "Are you OK?" He asked, struggling to stay on his feet.

Some sort of explosion happened and threw a large peice of stone in between Lumistar and the others and Dayn's forces. Blood red liquid began to rain on them,

OOC: Trooper. Sorry, I'm not 100% on military terms. Also, I'm assuming that Dorfl and Guy's characters are far away enough to only feel the tremors, for now at least.

Dayn kicked out viciously at Busa while she was distracted, and made a dash for an archway, calling to his men to take cover.

His men followed him away, two men leading the blinded soldier, who was insisting that his eyes were getting better, in a voice that was slightly hysterical.

Dorfl felt a little chill as he realised that there must be poison on the blade. He'd have to be a whole lot more careful now. He crouched and considered a retreat. He could bring back reinforcements, of course. But no, he had to prove worthy of officer-ship.

"LOOK OUT!" Busa bellowed, pushing Lumistar out of the way of the huge slab of stone. As dark red liquid rained on them, he felt sick. "We must leave here. Come on!" He yelled, pulling on Lu's arm.

Jeren sighed, a long sigh. "All we wanted was to see Dayn, and this is what happens. You hurt my friend, and now I'm really going to hurt you."

He quickly rushed in to close the distance, looking for a chance to get another swipe off and win.

Lu didn't need telling twice, she got to her feet after Busa pushed her out of the way and scarpered, making sure Busa and Silver were behind her. She briefly considered going back for Nithran's body, but that would be stupid right at this moment. Get to a safe place, worry later.

Busa struggled to take off because of his injuries, but once he was off the ground he was alright. But his eyes were still a little fuzzy...

He turned behind him to check that Lu and Silver were behind him. He couldn't help but notice that Lu looked troubled. "I...Did my best." He said softly. "We can come back later, don't worry." He then doubled his speed, desperate to get away from the red rain...

"I was just thinking that..." Lu answered, disgusted that she was now covered in the red rain; it had the look and feel of blood to her. She put on an extra burst of speed to keep up with Busa, she kept glancing over her shoulder to see if they were being followed.

'No, they're too far ahead. And this rain will slow you down. Besides, look at it. This is a phenomenon. Red rain.'
'Sir, all the others...'

The soldier bowed his head, and walked back to the huddled survivors. So many had died. Those people, those criminals. They were something special. They were a threat to his authority, he mused. He resolved to have a reward placed on their heads. There were enough desperate headhunters in this hell of a world to bring down an empire.

Dayn turned his attention to the rain. So, something had destroyed this castle, slaughtering its inhabitants. And now a blood-red rain. Creepy, a lesser man should think, Dayn thought. But he was a scientist. And he was allowing this rain to go to waste! He turned to his men, and saw that one wore a bottle, reminiscent of many long hours. Dayn snatched it, and heard with satisfaction an amount of objection hastily stifled. He held out the bottle, out of his archway, hoping to catch some rain.

OOC: Rurik, if you should be so kind as to post what happens here. I'm uncertain as to the effects of this rain.
Wow, Charles Dickens has had a real effect on me.

As they started to come away from the ruins, Busa looked down at the forest and gasped. The trees were soaked, and it looked like red snow. No, the scene of a massacre. Looking up at the sky, it looked nothing more than rain clouds...

"What the hell is going on?!" Busa thought out loud. He started to fear that this 'red rain' might do some harm to them in some way. Would it burn their scales? Blind them if it got into their eyes? Did it have any toxic fumes?

"We need to find shelter!" Busa called to the others. Scanning the forest below, he recognised it under the red blanket. "The cave is nearby! Come on, let's shelter there!" He said, diving towards the forest. His legs were almost useless, but flying was the one thing he could still do perfectly in his old age.

When the water began to fall out of the sky, Serm at first thought it was some huge behemoth in the sky, cut open, bleeding. He did, however, recall the phenomenon of rain. Something that the desert lacked, but these people had. However, something was amiss about the rain... it was not like normal water, like he thought it'd be. It was red... blood red. It made him slightly uneasy.

Jeren, on the other hand, didn't have time to pay attention to the rain, strange as it was. He was too busy trying to rip Dorfl to shreds.

Flying was making Lumistar breathe harder, and that was hurting her ribs; she thought she may have cracked one where Dayn kicked her. But she sucked it up and followed Busa, albeit in a shallower dive.
She really wanted to clean this red rain from her scales, especially where she had cuts. She would have to find some kala to chew on to help her sleep and take away the pain; some of the others could probably do with some too...

Silver followed Lu and Busa immediately. He was amazed, yet a bit affraid. He had never seen anything like this before. Neither did Busa, Lu or Dayn and his guards, probarbly. The cave was nearby. As Silver was flying at moderate speed (not top speed, then he would be faster than the others and lose them) towards it, he was thinking of any connections. It could be Dayn... Maybe he did something. Could be someone else, like another bad guy... It's probarbly linked to the earthquake... maybe Nithran... No, stop thinking and get inside!

Busa landed carefully outside the cave and immediately entered. He turned to face Lu and Silver. "Are you both OK?" He guessed that they were injured, so he pulled a type of herb out of his pouch and gave them some each. "I know it tastes vile, but it'll help. Never hurts to be prepared for injuries, what with this wretched world..." He left none for himself, realising that the younger generation were more of use and need of remedy. "What the hell is this?" He whispered as he looked outside, rubbing his sore head.

Dorfl used both his hands to grab the offending hand, and twisted, hoping to break the arm before it could do any damage.

The herb was horrible, and Silver felt like he had to throw up, but he didn't. It worked pretty fast, healing his (small) wounds.

"I don't know what this is. It looks like blood, but what is it, really? The only thing I can think of is connections. Maybe Dayn did this all, but that would be pretty illogical. What I think is that it is linked to the earthquake, which is probarbly linked to Nithran's death, but thet's just what I think. How about you guys?"

Jeren struggled to break free, lashing out with the claws on his other hand and kicking. His arm was hurting, but he was resisting.

Marka, in the meanwhile, was wondering if the battle was over. Then, she noticed the red rain starting to fall. She didn't like it, as it impeded her vision.

"Put me down! Put me down!" Bali protested, and she continued to do so.

Marka sighed, and tried to locate her brothers within the rainstorm.

"I don't think Dayn is capable of doing something like this." Busa said, although he wasn't entirely sure, "And I doubt it has anything to do with Nithran... Seriously, in all my years I've never seen anything like this..." He decided that as soon as the rain had subsided, he would go out to investigate. The question was: how long would he have to wait?

Dorfl had an idea, and tried to swing the poisoned claw into Jeren's other arms, albeit very awkwardly. It wasn't a manouvere you really thought to practice, after all.

Jeren decided to take advantage of the maneuver Dorfl was trying to pull. He quickly moved his other arm out of the way, while swinging the arm in Dorfl's grip, hoping the added momentum would throw him off balance, and swiping with his other claws again.

Despite what was going on near him, the monotonous sound of raindrops falling, combined with the chill it brought to him, made Serm sleepy. He slowly succumbed to the drowsiness, and was eventually lightly asleep.

The herb did taste bitter, but Lu showed no signs of it being so. She lay down and curled up, only now was she beginning to realise that she was worn out, not to mention upset.

"I think it's the same thing that happened to the castle, only an aftershock maybe? Did you notice that despite the fact that the 'rain' was falling the smell of the place didn't change?" Then again maybe that was because her mouth was already covered in her own blood because she had the smart idea of biting someone's foot as they tried to kick her... At least that part of her fury she remembered perfectly...

Busa thought carefully about what Lu had said. "I don't think that would matter really. The place stank of blood and death, and that never changed."

Suddenly, it came to him. He gasped loudly, his legs almost buckling underneath him. He leaned on the wall to support himself. "Could it be..." He shallowed, "The... Blood dragons?" The dragon who had once been a valiant warrior, now felt nothing but fear.
