Who's lost faith and who still hopes?

Do you not like Spyro games anymore or not think that anything made anymore will be any good?
Do you think some new company will take over and butcher it or save it?
Maybe a new character or an old one will be in one and take over?
Or maybe someone like you or me will have a say in what happens?

Re: Who's lost faith and who still hopes?

Well, you guys are probably gonna hate me, but I'd have to vote no.

Why? Spyro's lost a lot of what made it popular in the first place. The lighthearted, silly characters and environments, the platforming, and the story that didn't take itself too seriously has been turned into the exact opposite.

Talk to anyone outside of a Spyro fansite old enough to have played the original games and they'll probably tell you they loved those games as a kid. Now no one even knows what Spyro is anymore because they all lost interest after the first trilogy.

I'll never stop hoping that Insomniac or another game company will decide Spyro's had enough and buy the rights. Then make a TRUE Spyro game. Spyro is not a goody-goody Gary-Stu dragon who is in a prophecy! Spyro is a badass dragon you will torch your butt if you get on the wrong side of him!

Re: Who's lost faith and who still hopes?

If you look on the surface in the original, everything seems dandy besides the fact someone is in danger. What is it like underneath? Knowing that sarcastic behavior is a coping mechanism, especially in dire scenarios, then it's not being taken very lightly as some others would think. The danger becomes much more heavy in the TLOS series by some degree but the same rules stay in play (not gameplay-wise...which was ok) and all are scattered from each other. That's understandable.

Assuming the TLOS was a prequel as originally intended, character development seems to take place but not yet bridge to the present in detail. From that I see no damage is done but some disappear during the unclosed bridge. You have to wonder what becomes of Cynder...

The gameplay in full isn't awful since I can beat the game without encountering some bug that prevents my progress. The platforming shifting to a beat'em up adventure was awkward at first but it makes sense when smacking enemies once or twice instantly defeats them was...  getting old and made them not as interesting or threatening. Still, the platforming was still there... sort of.

Story-wise, I think they could of done better in polishing and taking some risks by thinking outside the box. That's the only problem I have with the new series. The inspiration from LOTR shines too clearly to be ignored or appreciated and the simple fact of the four guardians and the prophecy bit the dust HARD. Either the dragons were morons thinking purple dragons have an advantage or a silly literary device. Cynder and Malefor do stand out and should be kept but executed better... and the apes? I have no care about them; they are annoying.

I don't blame the company too much, I'm saying they should work like they care.

I don't care how it looks but how it functions
