Re: My theory of the future of Spyro

I just hate the new Spyro game's, they just bother me with what they did to Spyro's look in the new one along with the voice acter. Spyro should not grow up what character has grown up in a game besides Snake, no growing for Spyro aloud. The fighting is just horrorible in the new game enmy after enmy constantly. The fights take at least 5 or 6 minutes to.

Here's a site that me and my Brother made for all the video game players out there in the world. Enioy!!!

Re: My theory of the future of Spyro

Well, I totaly agree with Gunderstank that this reboot may be the best thing ever happened to our little friend, sure, Insomniac did a good job with the first games, but I don't think they would have been a big hit today. They really needed something fresh, and I haven't played A New Beginning nor The Eternal Night, but playing Dawn of the Dragon was enough for me, they really have something going here. Sure there is room for improvment, but isn't there always?

Stick with the new story, I say. I would be really *bleep*ed if they didn't.

Re: My theory of the future of Spyro

ideas grow on trees, there's nothing more common. /ORIGINAL/ ideas however (what this series needs) are /incredibly/ rare

Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
So we shall flow river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.

And imho, Insomniac sold Spyro cause they got lazy:
"OMG! He can't hold a gun! We need guns for all the cool stuff!"

I mean, they've come up with some inventive weaponry (ex- any Ratchet and Clank game, another favorite of mine), but apparently they can't think of any creative attacks that don't come out of a gun barrel. That seems incredibly narrow-minded.

well you have to put into account that Insoniac was losing  munny faster then they were gaining  it so youcan't realy blame them for selling the rights for Spyro. and I for one think that Spyro has been getting better and better with each game even though Enter the dragonfly was a failure but you can't hold it against them they had to rush it to be able to release it on the due date.

I've thought ever since Insomniac Games (Is that the right spelling?) sold the rights of Spyro that, Spyro games have become less original, repetitive and most of all boring, after enter the dragonfly I just haven't played attention to the Spyro series. My theory is that the Developer's of Spyro will run out of Ideas and have to close down the spyro series.

This is not meant to offend anyone. big_smile

No offence taken, if Blizzard do make another Spyro, you will get a great game, look at Diablo and Starcraft and lets not forget Warcraft

Losing money? You are kidding me right? Spyro 2 sold 3.5 million and spyro 3 sold 3.7 Million, Thats going on the RISE, something that rarely happenes with sequels. Insomniac left the series simply because they wanted to do something different. You know they are a company taht likes shooters (Disruptor, ratchet and clank, resistance) and spyro wasnt doing that for them, so they put most of there ideas into one final game and left. Cant hold ita gainst them? So you arnt blaming them for a bad game? who are you blaming? Enter the dragonflys suckage is due to rushing as you said, not due to unoriginal ideas or the market of  the old spyro dying.

dudes, I have never played the original spyro games, but TLOS got me HOOKED!!! so stop all the babble about how "TLOS sucks" and "spyro is dead" because that talk makes me SICK!!! spyro is alive and well, and I would not change the current spyro for anything. stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it!

It just realluy depends what can come out of TLOS and what can come out of the originals. Many fans, including I, really didnt think that the best original spyro game would have stopped at YOTD, and taht if they revolutioniserd the series it can be awesome. Also the fact taht the audience is back to liking platformers (because of the absense of them) and the original fanbase is dying for more games.

TLOS has so far been a safe route. something they know will sell avargely and make some profit. Or atleast thats what WE think.

Well, I totaly agree with Gunderstank that this reboot may be the best thing ever happened to our little friend, sure, Insomniac did a good job with the first games, but I don't think they would have been a big hit today. Stick with the new story, I say. I would be really *Bleep* if they didn't.

The problem is that DOTD is like a much crappier version of spyro 3. It had 2 sequels that were just slightly worse than the game (Immagine DOTD as 6 and Spyro 3 as 9 as a rating, spyro 2 as an 8 anad spyro 1 as a 7 while TEN was a 5 and ANB a 4). It was the last of a trilogy, and they put EVERYTHING they could into it (expect for a good story), and to continue from that they have some serious thinking to do.
I do think hwever that if another TLOS game was released there would be enough of the fanbase and ignorant kids to want to buy the game, no matter how crap it is. And I think it will just be as good as DOTD or worse, because Im pretty sure DOTD needed a quite a bit of effort.
Pleasing the general audience now i believe will be very hard for TLOS, and thats why going back to the originals would be a better idea.

Re: My theory of the future of Spyro

The Legend of Spyro was rushed and cliched. It's downfall came when it came to gameplay, it played like a bad clone, it was too generic.

Re: My theory of the future of Spyro

The thing is though, that activision realises that no matter how crap the game is, fans will buy it and like it. and that means they have a good reason to continue TLOS

Re: My theory of the future of Spyro

Yeah theres really no way that the games can get worse, theres another game coming out. they r taking 2 yrs to make something. plus blizzard is on board, & i know they put their name on something if it doesn't live up to their name. plus other then, the kids buying the games there r others that play this game because spyrro is in it

But the thing is, with Blizzard they actually know how to make good games whereas the other companies just know how to make generic games
