Re: What do you want to see in a Spyro fan game?

hey apoc, well i guess i'll start by saying, something like dotd, but the storyline can be different, longer levels, free roam thru the levels like the dragon city, fighting similar to dotd, possibly buy armor to improve defense abilities or something, other than gems to recharge health & magic, use money gems to buy the armor or other stuff, sorry apoc if im sounding way to demanding now, but when u mean fan game like a game on the PC or a game we can play on the forum.

Okay, when I get the programming skills I'll make a Spyro fan game. The engine I'll use would be the Unreal Engine, I like that engine

Whatever's best, I'll have to scrounge for it. Although, until I've learned how to program the project will be on hold

I'll make it a special, like on Diablo 2 when you finish the game and put a Tome of Town Portal and Wirt's Leg in the Horadric Cube and transmute you'll open the portal to The Secret Cow Level. Also with this game, I'm not going to bother with combos and all that other jazz, I'll make it a hack and slasher, I love those.

Re: What do you want to see in a Spyro fan game?

what defines a game to me is all the little things. By that I mean side quests, perhaps a few choices made to alter the plot of mood of the story, flush out some more personality into the little critters on screan, so to speak.

Maybe have a dark, brooding mood mixed in with some well placed humor. of corse, humor is optional. Minimal platforming (I could never stand falling off a ledge over and over, makes me somewhat homocidal) and alot of tactic. A mindless button masher would mutlate my poor laptop (not to mention whats under the laptop...)

Hack and Slashers aren't really platform games, I don't do those anyway. I'll make the first one similar to Diablo 2 but with Hellgate: London gameplay. The second you have a choice of 5 characters and depending on their creed will begin differently. 5 characters and 5 creeds, sound good?

Re: What do you want to see in a Spyro fan game?

Hack and Slashing huh? Like DMC (Devil May Cry) ?... uhh ok...

Collecting, I don't care about the combat but allow me to collect gems, orbs, something that will help  further my gaming progress will be ok for me.

Also... uhh, I wouldn't worry just about programming, you have to consider, memory, theme (graphics, music,), how the interface will look like, etc, and blah and blah.

If you still want to do it, then more power to ya... but making a game from ground up is going to take a long time... :-|

No, hack and slashing like Diablo 2 and Hellgate: London. I'm not going to bother with cumbersome combos.

Good move... Also out of curiosity, how far into this game of yours are you in anyways? Just curious BTW. smile

How can Hellgate be that? Most of it focuses on guns and thirdperson

Slight better romance between some characters instead of a quick out put sudden "I LOVE YOU mad  "

Re: What do you want to see in a Spyro fan game?

@Saeth: Not anywhere yet. I haven't got a program, or the skills, so I'm just asking so I don't release an awful game.

@Jackson117: Simple you use your mouse to aim, one button uses your first weapon the second uses your second, simple and easy to remember. Not exactly like Hellgate but similar.

@Dragon Protector X: I will do soemthing about that

That would nearly work for most FPS.
