Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

This article goes hand in hand with my Dark Spyro thread, by the way.

okay, the way the game would work is like this:

Malefor is dead, but his spirit lives on. while he can no longer be freed from Convexity, as he is dead, he can possess a dragon's body. Cynder is kidnapped to be Malefor's host, and spyro goes after her. but wait...here's where it gets interesting. along the way, spyro is learning how to master his darkform, while at the same time unlocking a lightform. both are powerfull, but in different ways.

Meanwhile...

What, you didn't honestly expect Cynder to just sit around, playing "Damsel in Distress," did you? Instead, in a different campaign you unlock after completing the first, Cynder escapes her captors and journeys to try and destroy Malefor once and for all, coming to terms with the darkness inside her and the light she never knew was there. in other words, both have a darkform and a lightform. or it could be one for spyro, the other for cynder. whatever works.

Please reply!

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

No one replied to this, so I might as well. I think it would be cool  for Spyro to gain control of his dark form and use it as a new power (without it being unlocked content). It could definitely add something story wise and keep things interesting on whether of not control is possible. I'm not sure how a light form would fit into the game; I would just consider his regular self to be his light form. The Cynder campaign you mentioned probably can be melded with the regular campaign, with perspective changing as the game progresses.

As for Malefor, I would personally prefer a different new enemy. If Spyro developers decided to continue using him though, Malefor being able to possess others while dead is interesting.

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

You're right, Akon, a lightform and darkform for one character would be kind of dumb, I see that in hindsight. Instead, it would probably be better for Spyro to unlock his darkform and for Cynder to unlock a lightform, because if spyro is normally in his "lightform," then Cynder is usually in her "darkform." does that make any sense?

Anyway, thanks for your insight, Akon.

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

it sounds good, if done by the right people. [we don't need another ETD]

though, i personally like the idea of Spyro and Cynder both having their own dark/light forms... not one for each.

and of course there would have to be a bit more of a story, but the basic idea sounds great, and actually really creative. it has potential.

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

I like this idea! since we said in the DARK SPYRO thread that Light and Darkness are complementary then Spyro, using Light elements, would achieve a Dark form.... Cynder, using Dark elements, would develop a Light form... there would be balance Ligh-Darkness... and by the way, it could strengthen Spyro and Cynder's relationship wink

Yeah, and maybe Cynder would be the one who saves the world this time around... :geek:

Okay that did sound sarcastic, but I was serious. envision it:

Cynder is having darkness pumped into her by the bad guy in the final scene. spyro is trying to know why she is just sucking in the darkness instead of fighting it. then, with Cynder saying something along the lines of "because in the darkest shadow, lies the brightest light," big, blinding flash of light as she uses the darkness to fuel her light(Sparx: AAAAHHH!!! THE SUN IS EXPLODING IN MY FACE!!!), bad guy gets his *** handed to him.

something like that. what do you think?

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

Having Spyro and Cynder both have a light and dark side is a good idea. If they made that into a game, I'g be dying to buy it! If only they could come up with an idea like that!

I would enjoy the idea of a game that allowed us to play the evil side of their forms....and taking over the world haha...

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

I guess but i was more towards the fact that we could play more (if there were any) elements from them both. The story would go a little differently too.

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

wow, a lot more support than my previous game ideas. only thing more popular is a topic on flame wars and a duel between a samurai and knight. of the topics I created, of course.
anyway, thanks, guys.
peace! :*bleep*in:

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

Actually, I didn't have to think that long on it. I had only recently joined this forum and was playing a game of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories when I had a brainchild. Sora and Spyro are very similar, why not make a game where they team up? this would also leave room for Riku, someone who was once swallowed by darkness, to act as a mentor for Cynder, allowing her to come to terms with her past and, possibly, actually DEVELOP A PERSONALITY OTHER THAN A MARY SUE. I also had another idea. what if Riku was able to teach Spyro to unlock his darkform like Riku unlocks his in Chain of Memories. I created this post for the idea of being able to unlock darkforms and lightforms, as I actually use the who "light and dark are two forms of the same thing" as a kind of motto, and another topic on the teaming up of Sora and Spyro.
the Spyro/Sora idea tanked, but this idea seems to be gaining ground.
one part of this is that if, say, Cynder was being consumed by Darkness, being corrupted (major plot feature here), she could suck in the darkness, making the darkness deeper and deeper...
deepest darkness makes a light shine brightest...
she turns darkness to light, kicks butt, saves the world, IS NO LONGER A MARY SUE, and everyone goes home happy.
except the bad guy.
the end.

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

I had a Theory how the Dark form gives the user more power but reduces their intellect and behavior to that of a animal..But their still able to know their friends etc etc

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

Guess it would depend on the individual. Obviously it was displayed that if the individual had enough of a bond with someone that they could notice them and converse with them even in dark form. Other then that it pretty much unleashes all the hate and rage deep within one's heart.

well, that's the dark form, yes. I guess a better term for what I have in mind is a Shadow form. you know, a shadow may appear to be dark, but you can't have shadows without light. in other words, though the powers and look would be similar to the darkform, it would be powered by light. you get what I'm saying?

Re: Dark Spyro/Dark Cynder Game idea

what Jackson117 is trying to say is that Sora wasn't taken over by the instincts of a heartless when he became a heartless, so if Spyro were to enter his shadowform (Shadow is a mix of Light and Darkness) he would be able to not be taken over by the darkness; at least if the storyline and everything matches up.
