Anyone hate this??

You know that some youtube videos have no sound because of the WMG. Whoever they are, they obviously hate Youtube. Post what you think of them.

Re: Anyone hate this??

WMG = Warner Music Group. they're some music label who broke their contract with YouTube and are now removing every song that belongs to their label. a very stupid, greedy, and whiny move on their part. not letting us have their songs on YouTube. they should be glad we're getting their music out there. it's not like YT is contributing to illegal downloading much. unfortunately, there's other ways people can illegally download stuff.

All I know is they're bringing terrible AMVs and the like to a screeching halt, so they're all right by me.

Re: Anyone hate this??

It's not just Warner Music Group; it's Universal Music Group, too. I remember when I made WMM Spyro videos and I got around 30 of them removed, mostly UMG owners. I have a little bit better program now, and it has a decent audio editor, so I change the pitch to bypass the filter.

Re: Anyone hate this??

Yeah, I think I remember Getting copyright for The DOTD playthrough I was doing. I was just like WTF. When they rightly accuse people, I think That they have a very good reason to do it. i simply NEVER bye CDs because I hear the music on youtube. but i possibly might bye it if I had access to it and 1 song didnt cost like $2.

Re: Anyone hate this??

The WMG, though a music group, needs to calm down and not cancel out any music or sounds they hear. They are just retarded.

Re: Anyone hate this??

How are they retarded if they're making money?

I will say though that since they (AND UMG) are removing many songs, their sales are getting lower and lower because if they can't sample music, they probably won't want to buy a CD.

Re: Anyone hate this??

I think you're giving crappy slide-show music videos on youtube way too much credit.  I sincerely doubt people hearing songs on youtube has created any record sales for them, especially since probably 90% of people who would listen to the music would just download it anyway.

No one pays for music anymore, 'cept tossers.

Re: Anyone hate this??

I like to collect CDs, often because of the art and having the lyrics booklet, along just having it itself makes me feel good for some reason.

So, when did people ONLY use songs in "Music Videos"? Even actual official videos have been taken off of smaller record companies' official channels, simple lyric videos, and even just music in the background of other videos.

Plus, not every unofficial non-profit video is a slideshow; even though I don't have a program like Adobe Premiere right now, I'm working with another decent program and when I get the chance, I might want to use real band footage given to me and put together real music videos, getting paid for it. I've volunteered to a few small bands I know of to make some videos for them for free if they send me anything to work with...haven't really gotten anywhere yet, though...but that's alright, takes time

YouTube is the reason i like 20+ of the songs/bands i do now. i listen to a lot of underground metal bands which aren't that easy to find in the first place, much less in the US where it's all mainstream pop/rap/etc, and YouTube's a good place to find their stuff. and illegally downloading sucks. people should support the bands they like. bands work very hard on music. the least people could do is spend a couple bucks to help support them.

@ below. i'm not saying [all] mainstream is bad. and i'm not saying it's the only music here. it's just the only music i hear anywhere.

Re: Anyone hate this??

^I agree with everything you said about the US part
A lot of people on forums (including Americans) think that it's all rap, pop, and country in this country, but it's not, they're all just too lazy to find some amazing bands and artists like I do. I listen to all sorts of things, and usually when I make a video to a song or suggest a song, people don't know what I'm talking about but they love the song or artist because they don't want to try to find it all themselves. I'm trying to introduce my more unknown favorite bands to the world with that kind of stuff.

I also have to say that NOT ALL MAINSTREAM STUFF IS THAT BAD! Are you judging by what you see on MTV and other music channels? That isn't the ONLY music around, you know.

"Videos" like this are the reason youtube sucks so badly as far as content goes.  Hell, I'd say crappy slide-show videos are better than lyric videos.

Youtube is a site made for video, not music, so when youtube has crap like this on it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jmj_ochRjk

Then taking it down is no big deal.  It's not what youtube is for and if you're getting all bent out of shape over it go to a site that's actually made for providing you with your hip underground musical tastes you starving artist types take so seriously.

As for spending music to support the band: albums make up just about ZERO of a band's income.  All the money you spend on albums goes toward the label.  Bands make the majority of their money from concert sales and good ol' fashioned corporate whoring.  Not to mention if they really want to make money they can get a real job.

Re: Anyone hate this??

Well, I know how it sucks for many people, but I listen primarily to video game music, so it doesn't affect me much.

In your face, WMG.

You're right, those videos deserve to come down. It's just when they take video down just because it has background music of something...

Re: Anyone hate this??

I honestly don't really care since I don't use YouTube except to find funny videos now and then...but yeah I'm pretty sure it was a site for video making not music sharing or whatever...but Companies will do what they want to keep themselves out of financial trouble or acquire more financial deals.

Re: Anyone hate this??

IMO, companies that want copyrighted videos to be removed are only portraying themselves as *bleep*s as well as not realizing the potential marketability in having their videos/products advertised on Youtube in the form of videos.

If Youtube eventually becomes too copyrighted, or worse, if videos become pay-per-view, no one would use it. Similarly, if torrent sites become pay-per-torrent file, no one would use that, and new torrent sites with free downloads would just pop up. Companies that try to shut down such sites are just playing whack-a-mole. It's not a very productive use of time.

I don't make vids on YouTube, but it is annoying when you come across a vid based on your favourite game or anime along with your favourite song. And then it's muted.  mad
