According to the schedule, it's only 48 more hours for the BETA release, working hard to get the game ready for this wink

So far I've fixed most of the reported bugs/glitches, and I've added more to the combat part. There's still much more to add, but this will come with time. Main focus now is to fix the controls and game responds. The currently flying controls are hard to use, and it's not working as well as it could do. Movement needs a little tweak too. There are plenty of smaller issues that need to be fixed, so don't expect the BETA out earlier than the 10th.

Then it's also the fact that I have to go to work today and tomorrow so I can't do as much as I want. I will get as much done as I can, I will avoid another delay. If everything holds up, I will release the BETA approximately Friday the 10th, 23:00 (11:00 PM) GMT. The exact time may change.

EDIT:
This will not contain a major part of the game, this is just to locate all the bugs/glitches that may exist for the moment. Many off the functions in the release will be used further, so if there's anything wrong in this, it'll continue to be wrong when the bigger releases come.

i could do with another dragon game, to be truthful i have only played 1 dragon game, and that is Spyro, i'd love to play another dragon game!

Before you attempt to play, please read this information:
During the last days, things went a little rushed, and therefor lacks proper testing. Things also became a bit hectic, so I'm sure I missed something, or didn't finish a part.
The reason some areas has been locked down (Mainly the outdoor environment) is because of some unfinished parts and little time. I wanted to add more vegetation and scenery to the level, but I didn't have time nor the resources.

This version contains two caved areas, where one has a waterfall and a small river while the other has a big river and some other scenery.
One type on enemy (Going to be a lot more later) which can be fried or crushed.
Limited flying (For now), only in the "main" cave.
Two soundtracks and a little combat sounds.
A combat system which uses "combos" (More to be added to this), still needs more work. Three types of attacks, but the third is not possible to use in this version.
A very far-from-done menu, doesn't have anything in it yet.

The game controls is not included in the game, due to me forgetting to add that. There are not many keys, so it's not hard to understand them.
WASD - Move around
Shift - run
Space - jump
Arrow keys - Attack (Only right and down is functional ATM)
F - Breath fire
This will be possible to customize when I get the option screen up and running.

Yeah, there's been progress. Take a look at the above post or the first post wink

Unfortunately, I'm the only one who's working on the technical parts, and I'm also behind the level design and fixing the sounds. It takes a long time to do just one of these, so therefor the developing speed isn't great. Still improving, and fixing those problems that has been reported by people.

Once I finish my iPod touch game, maybe I will make a game like that. Most likely not with Game Maker though (not cross-platform)

This game isn't anything close to the final product yet, so if there's anything bad here, it's will be fixed in later versions. This version has some problems with the camera and collisions with angled walls, so I'm working on those. Still adding more to the combat-system.

I need you to find all these problems so this game can be a lot better when it's done.

Just so you know, I have put up some video footage on YouTube of the BETA... the sound wasn't agreeing with my capturing software though.
Also I would like to report a strange issue with the audio: it gets stuck sometimes in which it loops for a few seconds. That didn't happen before in the earlier build. Other than that there are no problems.

I'm ready when you are so take your time.

Checked out the video, and I must admit that thought I fixed the "flying spider" glitch... Argh, returning to that <_<
The repeating sound might come from the way I restart the game after dieing. You're actually "restarting" the game in some way, so everything is set back to 0, included the sound position. There might be a way to get around that, I think I know how to do that. I'll note it down.

It appears I really can't work with the game right now, I'm experiencing technical problems with my computer; the framerate is low, and the computer is working horribly slow. I'll backup everything, just in case...

This isn't an online game. It's just your advarage download and install... although in this case you download, extract the files, and run the executable labeled "game"

The reason it says "Play offline" is due to the way the site is made. That means download the game and play it from there rather than from the browser. It doesn't mean the game is an online game, where you can play with other people.

I figured out about the computer problems, it just needed to be turned fully off and needed to rest for some hours. I'm continuing with the game, now fixing the camera rotation and such. Now it's slower to rotate, and I'll add an option in the option screen to adjust the rotation speed. I'm going to add some keys so the player can rotate the camera as well.

Toss me the source code and I can probably make a Mac version... I can make ANYTHING Mac compatible, I even made a steam port that let's me play my Half-Life and Left 4 Dead...

There are a few minor side effects though:

-Nausea
-Heartburn
-Depression
-Lagging
-Failing kidneys
-Emancipated teeth
-Blindness
-Lose of hair
-Lose of limbs
-Death

But I just realized I would need to source code for ultimate 3d and game maker... It's not open source, so I guess I will make my own game...

It might happen that in the near future, this game will be MAC compatible. I heard that GM is about to have MAC compatibility, so that means I may take advantage of that. I can't promise this, so don't have too high expectations.

Camera problems soon solved, and fixed player flying physics. Still working on it, now it's a lot better.

How about a name for the game? At least a working title for now unless you want to keep calling it "Fan-made Dragon game". I think Ontels should probably decide that since he's the story writer.

Hm... do you think being able to control pitch (up and down) and roll in free-flight is a good idea? Maybe the addition of speed is necessary as well if you say yes because... I mentioned this earlier somewhere...  flying straight up can cause the player to stall and begin falling. (Ok, I learned that from playing aircraft combat simulation games... and physics class.)

The camera... I'll save my comments on that for some other time.

I'm trying to get in contact with Ontels for the name. Still haven't got any reply. He's just offline for the time, I guess...

Letting the player controlling too much is not a good idea for a computer game. It would work perfectly on a console, with the analogs and the buttons easily to reach, but on a keyboard, things are different. It's hard to figure out how to move, control the camera and attack at the same time on a keyboard. It's simply too many buttons you need to control. But it's an interesting idea. I can try to add that, but it might be as one of my earlier attempts to create flying physics, which, to say it mildly, failed catastrophically.

For the camera: I HAVE improved it! It no longer "jumps" when you walk around, I fixed the rotation speed and this and that smile
It even holds a nice height to follow you as well. But when you force it to the wall, it falls to the ground <_< The flying physics you complained about has also been improved. Send me a PM if you want to try out the new things. Could do with some more feedback on that part.

I've downloaded this game and i thinks its pretty good, but when i start it i start in a cave and i dont know how to get out, and is there a goal in the game??? is there anything you actually have to do???

I think you mean prototype. Beta means the game is finished, but it is just being tested for bugs by other players.

Alpha is basically the same thing as beta, but you are adding more content while working out bugs.

Prototype means you are still testing the basics. Combat, flight, etc.
