Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
Hi, it's me again. I though I'd share this cool site with you called dimdim.com. This is for web conferences both public and private and has feature like voice chat, video chat, text chat, white board where you can draw things, and share your desktop view with all members during the meeting. It's pretty useful and it's free to use. All you need to use it is a web browser and the plug-in that is required to be installed...and of course register an account.
I happen to have a really good voice and if you like I could give a few samples. I might as well use my voice recorder for something.
I don't care how it looks but how it functions

@ Trasher:
I'll take a look at that site, maybe it can be useful ![]()
Also, just send over whatever voice recordings you might have and I'll figure out where you'll be placed.
And is there someone who knows how I change the poll? This one was just a test to see how it works... There's probably an obvious button I've missed or something...

You might have to ask Spyrorocks on that issue. Once a poll has been made and somebody makes a vote on it, it locks and cannot be edited or removed anymore.

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
Thank you! I'm not sure about how challenging this game will be. We'll figure out that some time later
And I felt like adding another screenshot!
http://i40.tinypic.com/j0h2cw.jpg
And as I've said earlier, I had a new feature (Which is old now..), and here it is:
However, I must limit this feature so it won't be misused. But it'll be in handy, and should be fun (I hope

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
That screenshot of your game is remarkable just keep you the good work with your game, While you do that I have to finish drawing mine out. man it's going to take forever I have to draw over a thousand pages, and sometime I get tired of it I mean I have a team yeah, but I do both the writing and the drawing of the game and I also have to do the character designs I'm not quiet sure if I'm going to be the one do the landscapes but it's a pain in the neck when all that work is being put on one person. Huh?

I share your pain ![]()
It's hard work to do a lot yourself, and I'm dealing with the coding, level designing, tweaking every little bit and holding the team together. Well, good luck with your game, I'm sure it'll turn out great if you really want to get it done ![]()
...
I'm going to send a mail to every voicers, I would like you to reply as soon as you can.

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
I have a suggestion for the limiting of free-flight: Weather and environment conditions can sometimes make flight nearly impossible. Unless the main character can undergo such they won't be able to fly around in that area. Also you might want to consider looking at how aircraft are flown... they will stall going straight up.

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
I've checked the files, and you did pretty good, Red ![]()
Trasher, that is a useful suggestion, but it'll be hard to get in. And some places the player can trick the system, and I don't want any "holes" in the levels where you could get out. I don't think I can add weather just yet... I need to find a speed-friendly system, which can take some time... I'll take a look at that, and see what I get.
Even though I prefer to strip away the flying function some places (In caves etc). But mostly I'll limit the flying height, and I believe that's the best solution.

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
We're looking for more voicers! If you feel that you have an OK voice and wish to participate in this project, pleas send me a sample of your voice and you could be in. If we do not receive more voices, the demo will be delayed by some weeks. It appears that I have to push the ETA of the demo to the late June, due to unforeseen events. We're looking for modelers too, so if you're interested, send a mail or post here ![]()

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
A new milestone has been reached! Yesterday and the day before, I experimented a little bit, and I got some really neat results. The game now contains a true cutscene, it's just one minute long (For now), but it's a start. With just this one cutscene, the motivation and will to continue developing this game returned to it's max again. Also, the game is not just running around and doing nothing, it's one minute of game experience! Don't think it's little, it's more than I thought Game Maker was able to do.
And for the voicers:
There's been some misunderstandings between me and Ontels, you'll have to record another list. I'll PM you about that tomorrow or later today.

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
I've been gone for some days, but I'm back again!
I'm just informing you about that I've managed to get a spot for the menu and I've finally fixed a loading screen. This makes everything look so much better ![]()
I've also done some other small things, so there's progress.
Voicers, I'd like you to send me a mail containing some information about what character you want to voice, what timezone you live in and when you have some spare time. This would help me plan things, so I hope you could send a reply as fast as you can ![]()

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
This game fails. Because you are using Game Maker for "coding". Why you just don't learn some C++ and start making mod for Source engine?

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
Nahka, don't underestimate Game Maker... It isn't the best, but I'm getting very good results out of it. Yes, Cpp is better, but I don't have the right tools for that, so that's a dead end for me.
And I would like to know why you think this would fail. The "coding" is not a valid reason, because Cpp and GML (GM code) are very similar to each other. And just for the record, GML is a proper coding language, like Cpp. It's just limited to one program, or "compiler" if you like...

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
Dude.. this guy really seems to know about computers... i googled his name and i found he hosts big lans and is known for making games and coding with the source engine. Thats probably one of the best engines with most of possibilities around. You should probably listen to him, you might learn something.
If a pro bashes your idea youll probably need to change something in it, and fast.

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
I know that. There are two things: My knowledge to Cpp is, just to say it, poor. I don't have the right tools, nor the knowledge to use them. I could learn, but that will result in a very long delay, which I feel is unnecessary. If I could use Source engine, of course I would. But since I can't, I'll stick to what I know I can do.
But what Nahka said, the thing is this:
This game fails because I don't use Cpp? Well, what can I say, other than that that statement is false...
Now I just want to know why a game not made using Cpp would, as you say, fail. I don't see any reasons for that, as a game is a game, no matter what language it was coded in...

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
Why all the hate?
If this guys is a pro as you call him, then the only reason he came here was to start a flame war with someone making their first game? What is wrong with using a pre-coded engine for your first game? It may not be the greatest but everyone has to start somewhere. At least you have an achievment under your belt and you can look back someday and go " That was what got me started".
Word of advice, don't let it get to you, keep moving forward, and lastly don't feed the trolls.

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
I dont know about nahka, but i was just trying to state the facts. You seriously could learn something from him. More delay ---> Better game.
My opinion is that the screenshots were in the level that i cant decide if youre just trying to troll us or that you cant bother to put any real effort in to your little "game".

Re: Draco Chronicles: Unbalance (WIP) (Demo is out)
If you want to know why this game fails. It is because you use gamemaker to make 3 dimensional game. Gamemaker is intented to make 2D games and VERY simple 3D games. I've saw few 3D games made with Gamemaker and those games are very simple (Doom clone). And if this your first game or first 3D game I don't recommend you to make big project like this and make it to public. But what I recommend to you is just pratice coding and make little games for your own.
@ T3h0v4llu. More delay not always mean better game. Remember Black & White?
