Maybe this can happen.
TLOS falls into a portal and lands next to Original spyro.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Even if they did go back to the old games I don't think they would do it in a dark manner...for some reason I can't really picture the original style of game being popular with a darker tone...as said before they did try that in Shadow Legacy and it didn't pan out too well.....would certainly help a lot more if we had any idea what they wanted to do now.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
It depends on how it is executed. If the dark theme was more in the background than directly up front then that might work. Think of it like this. Alot of things happen around you but only some of them you focus on while others drift... or cause havoc without your knowing. (:) Then again... I'm having second thoughts on that one.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Eh..honestly I still can't see it going that well. Spyro was meant to have a very light open game feeling...very little darkness involved other then that the more humorous then actually evil bad guy involved in the game. I just don't see the whole concept really working out.....but....you never know.

Oh please.
Original Spyro haz no place for LOLGrimdark.
It is meant to be a light-hearted platform adventuring game, let's keep it that way folks. (Sierra, I hope you're listening).

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Maybe... but the way I see it the original only let you look at it from the surface but LOS takes it further by revealing the things underneath the mask. Sometimes you just don't want to know what it is but sooner or later that mask has to come off. That's one step forward even though the gameplay wasn't executed too well.
All in all, the series has this mystical feel to it. Things are not always as they seem... oho that makes me tingle.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
I wish it would go back to the older series...
But of course, that's not going to happen. I liked it more when it was mainly a humorous item-scramble/platformer, this newer 'dark-evil figure' concept doesn't mesh very well... Neither does the 'beat up everything in sight' concept.

That, I agree. I would love to see the dragons from the original game make their appearances again. And not as "dragon-in-distress" roles, but rather a more active one.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Well yeah, Spyro 1 was kinda weird. i mean The worst that could happen to the dragons was get frozen, And Spyro couldn't get touched by Gnasty Gnorc. Gnasty Gnorc was also a pushover. Not very epic.
And Ripto was a bit more nastier, but He really wasn't very dangerous. Yeah He wanted to take over avalar but he wasn't interested in Murder.
The Sourcerouss was the badass villian that the originals needed. And If storylines continued like Spyro: Year of the Dragon, just a tiny bit more darker, That would be great

If Insomniac Games could somehow make a new Spyro game in his original form then I would be really happy. But who am I kidding, this will never happen - this is just a fantasy.

I don't forsee the conflict ending unless they do something so drastic that 1 or both sides leave forever, so it's basically going to continue as long as the series does.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Well, from my point of view, the original Spyro will be returning but with a slight twist... Personally, the franchise seems to stay on life support. The Legend of Spyro may have been an interesting experiment but it didn't really add much depth to the Spyro mythos. A reboot to me is a coward's way out of actually doing hard work to tell a very good story. The Legend of Spyro storyline was okay but it was also weak. And yes the storyline was weak. Sorry but the truth hurts. The storyline could have been intergrated into the original series storyline with a little hard work and effort. It was doable but the effort wasn't made.
There is also the fact that they had to cast movie actors to do the voices of the characters. A strong storyline wouldn't need to do this just to attract interest. The LoS trilogy also suffered from the fact that there seemed to be too much story to tell and not enough time to tell it due to the rushed production schedules to get all 3 games done in time for Spyro's 10th birthday/anniversary. Also, is it just me or is the fact that Spyro's origin story has never been truly told. Hell, we don't even know who Spyro's true mother and father are. 10 years of games and not one game has ever focused on this one glaring issue. A very interesting game saga could be crafted out of Spyro going on a quest to learn about his past while at the same time learning about his future. It seems to me that the people who are in charge of this franchise don't know how to actually craft a complex story. Heck, the fanbase has writers who have done more complex stories then the official guys. How sad is that...?

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Actually, it isn't that sad really. A large amount of people can create better storyline than the games themselves. I've seen it quite a few times. While we're speaking about Spyro, the story Age of Heroes is pretty much an example of a well thought out Spyro story. A bit bloody and gorey, but sure.
Personally, in my opinion...I don't see the hype in the originals. I can understand where everyone is getting at, but that's kind of because they might've started out with playing the originals before playing the Legend of Spyro series. I, for one, have not. I started out with A Hero's Tail, then Shadow Legacy, then moved onto the Legend of Spyro series. At the time, I did play the originals thanks to a friend, but I still didn't see the major hype. The thing is, people hype up the games so much, they make it sound like the games were perfect, while in fact they aren't. They have a great deal of flaws.
My guess is that Sierra moved to the Legend of Spyro series because they wanted to move away from the rather cartoony storyline. I hate to say it, but moving to a darker storyline might've helped. I mean, the fact of the matter is, no game can stick to having a such a cartoony storyline for so long. For example: Sonic the Hedgehog (3D Titles), Mario (Galaxy), Megaman (X and Zero series), and so on. This is just my opinion.
...And I have to say this.
But let's face it, Sierra doesn't really give a <bleep> about us close-to-adults/adult fans that much. I mean, they probably did it for the new generation of gamers, which means a new Spyro, and also, Spyro wasn't doing that good after his moving to different companies. And I hate to say this too, but unless Sierra sells Spyro again to another coming, I don't see the original series coming back anytime soon. No offense really, but some people need to get over it (I mean the people who do complain about the series a lot). We understand that you don't like the direction of Spyro, but complaining about it ain't going to do something. Personally, why not just talk with Sierra and see what they thinks.
...That said. I will say, if they can combine the original and the Legend series together, they may pull something off good, but either way, they're always going to be fans that are not pleased. I mean, I admit it, I love the Legend series more than the originals (1-3). A Hero's Tail is my personal favorite of all Spyro games however. This is kind of hoping that I'll make my topics on these. In fact, I may be able to pull off two topics with this.
We'll see. I got to graduate first. Sorry if I said anything offensive.

Jay, the reason I said it was sad is due to many things. The weak storylines are just one of the things that hurts the whole franchise. The fact that owners of the franchise refuse to hire good writers and properly fund this series is part of the other problems. But lets just get away from this...
Speaking of good well thought out Spyro fan stories... Aren't you forgetting about my series also, Jay. Age of Heroes is a good series but so is Dragon of Destiny too. I guess you haven't read my series. I admit it still is a work in progress but that is understandable as it is set up to be the foundation for a much bigger project later on. In fact, a revised version of Dragon of Destiny is being prepared for debut later this year in preparation of the upcoming release of the 1st Legacy of Ages movie. Speaking of the LoA movie itself... I'll just say that it will be incredible and leave it at that. But let's just forget about comparing my series and the AoH series for the time being.
The reason there is no hype for the originals is because nothing is being done with them. They were just discarded for what they believe is an improvement. Yeah... some improvement... I have played all the games including the new ones and I have found that the old games had something the new ones lacked...
Replayability and they were fun.
Legend of Spyro was dull, predictable and short. The whole trilogy had this rush feeling to it. It was like they just rushed it into production with a story that was still a work in progress. If there was one thing that has annoyed me about both the original and the reboot....
They both did a poor job developing the secondary characters. Spyro may have been the star but come on... the fact that the rest of the cast was all but ignored or very poorly developed just annoys me to no end. Maybe it is because I am a writer myself... Okay, it is because I am a writer myself that I hate what was done. There is no timeline, the history is vague to the point of non-existence. Spyro, himself, is just a stereo typical hero with a very dull 'save the world' quest. The only reason I am interested in the character at all is simply because I like dragons and the fact that I can see that there is good story buried under all that crap they dumped on it. In other words the franchise has the potential to be so much more. The problem is that there just isn't anyone working for Sierra.... oh sorry Activision... geeze I wish they would stop changing owners. Anyway, it would seem they have no writers in-house with much imagination or skill in fleshing out this franchise. They have had 10 years to do it and they have yet to do it.
As for the real reason why they moved to the Legend of Spyro series, Jay... My guess is that they just were being lazy. Moving away from the cartoony influence of the original was just an excuse. Besides by the time they got to A Hero's Tail the *cough* storyline was already heading into dark territory. The reboot was just done because they didn't know how to proceed any further with the original storyline...
Actually, scratch that... it was more about them wanting to prove to themselves that they could do Spyro better the originals so... they create Legend of Spyro, a reboot with a darker story and history...
Of course, as we all know, Legend made many of the same mistakes its predecessor had made and it did so by totally turning Spyro into a very dull character. At least his predecessor had some character. The Legend of Spyro Spyro was a boring stiff who was so serious that I couldn't even relate with him until Ignitus died in 3rd game. That one moment was the only time I honestly felt sorry for Spyro. And that was the 3RD GAME!!! There was also the fact that Cynder was so poorly developed and used that she was almost an afterthought. Then again, the same could be said about Ember in A Hero's Tail. What the hell is wrong with the franchise writers...? What? Do they hate strong female characters or something? They got rid of Bianca and Elora years ago. Bianca and Hunter were becoming an item so I can see why they got rid of her like they did. Romantic relationships between characters in stories tend to lead to more serious things and that was a big no no for them. So Bianca had to go. Elora's removal, on the other hand, is kinda a mystery to me since the relationship betwen her and Spyro didn't go anywhere due to the fact that Spyro was still very young at the time. I am not surprised he didn't fall in love with Elora since he was just a kid at the time. That at least made sense. I just find it sad that they didn't do anything more with Hunter and Bianca. It is like they hate to develop the characters or something.
If it was the rating of the games that was the problem then they could have raised it little. Sonic managed to grow with his audience. This is why he is still enjoyable today. Spyro, on the other hand, had to get rebooted and then aged to make him revelant again.
Going back to the way they used Cynder... the second game in the LoS trilogy could have been more interesting if they had focused on doing a dual quest. One dedicated to Spyro himself and the other to Cynder. I think they could have really done something amazing with her. They could have did her part of the story after Spyro got captured by the pirates. They could have showed her journey. If anyone notice that by the time she and Spyro met again in the battle arena on the pirate ship she seemed more at ease with herself. The fact that we never got to see her side of the story just makes the whole story seem hollow. And don't get me started on how undeveloped the elder dragon guardians were. I mean we got so little time with them that they were almost useless. What a waste of good characters. The most onscreen time they had was Dawn of the Dragon and that was the final game in the trilogy. That is just pathetic!
As for Malefor... the main 'villian' of the trilogy... he didn't really come into the picture into the finale. And when he did come into the picture he ended up being a major disappointment. And that is just so sad. He was built up to be some major threat and in the end he came off as nothing more then just a cheap cookie-cutter villian. So in the end the whole reboot was a bitter disappointment. However, at least I can make use of some of the storyline of LoS in upcoming Legacy of Ages movies. So I guess it wasn't all bad.
And considering as you say, "Sierra doesn't give a **** about us older fans then I guess I don't have to waste anymore of my money supporting this franchise anymore. Thank god! I can't stand wasting money in this economy anyway. Who can? I can spend my time finishing up the Legacy of Ages projects and Dragon of Destiny saga at the same time as I focus on my original, more interesting projects. Also, there is the fact that I have no intention of wasting money buying a PS3 any time soon so I won't be able to play any future Spyro games anyway. Oh well... good riddance! Thanks a lot, Sierra for everything!
Not that it matters considering the OFFICIAL franchise is pretty much dead anyway. I'll stick with the UNOFFICIAL FAN MADE VERSIONS of the Franchise thank you very much. Besides the fans do better stories and have better ideas. As for them trying to combine the original and the Legend of Spyro storylines together... I say why bother since they will just screw it up like they always do. While you may love the Legend series more the original I only like the premise and ideas behind the story. I liked the character of Spyro but now that everything that I liked about him is pretty much gone...
The franchise has is pretty much DEAD! It doesn't matter if the games continue or not... The heart and soul is gone. It is all about profit now and that ladies and gentlemen is the kiss of death to this franchise. When profitability takes precendence over the fun aspect of the franchise considering where this franchise started from then it is over.
I will always be a fan of Spyro but I just can't stand what they have done to the franchise. The route they have chosen to take with the franchise is a mistake and in time it will all become very clear...
Mark my words...
In the mean time I'll just continue working on getting Legacy of Ages finished. I have a feeling that my project may end up helping the franchise in the end. It certainly can't hurt it anymore then already has been hurt...

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
I can understand where you coming from. Even I found a lot of flaws with the Legend of Spyro. I admit, the storyline is indeed dull, and something I've seen so many times. I mean, every once in a number of years, someone or something happens that can save the world or destroy it. Yeah. I admit, I do like Cynder's side of the story. I mean, I actually felt sorry for her after A New Beginning. I mean, it's pretty sad to me.
Ignitus "dying" was pretty predictable considering he's the wisest elder, and that's kind of a common thing among Fantasy things.
Rebooting the storyline was indeed a mistake, but their can be ways around it. The main problem was that they're using some of the most predictable Fantasy Movie/Game elements. Oldest character dying, prophecies, main character isn't too excitable or anything, damsel in distress, villian dies due to miracle (or sealed). All too easy.
I guess you can say it's like this for me: I tend to show more support to certain things that get a lot of bashings that don't entirely deserve it. For example, I support Sonic the Hedgehog, all the way, even with the ever "famous" Sonic the Hedgehog 2006. I mean really, people act like it's Sonic's death, but it's one majorly bad game. I played it, and enjoyed it to a point. It's not that bad. They're making a comeback. Same goes for Crash Bandicoot and his newer titles. Hell, I even finding myself liking the new Tiny Tiger because he's funny. How many times you see that?
I will say though, and I've said it many times online, is that every series has their positives and negatives. There is no perfect, there is no god awful. You just got to look deep into the series.
As for what I said about us Sierra and the older fans, what I mean is, Sierra isn't exactly going to pay too much attention to a lot of older fans. Sure, some, but only a rather small percentage, mainly because the Spyro is aimed for kids and young teens. I don't really think they'll pay much attention to people who are over 18 (or close to) to hear the same thing about the classics being the best and what not.
I'll be honest with you, but I could care less if the series starts to show any signs of nostalgia, or keeps going with their Legend of Spyro approach. I'll always be a Spyro fan, I'll always play the major games, plain and simple. Thing is, I don't want to be a purist, so I try to keep an open mind. I don't mean to sterotype, but some purist people (not counting you) are pretty much people who whine and complain about a series, making constant rant videos on YouTube, leaving comments about it when it is not needed in the first place, pretty much saying the same thing over and over, and drawing pictures to show the newer series is "dying" or stupid. I can understand if you show some, but show too much, and it just gets annoying.
And dude, seriously, don't say "The Franchise is DEAD!" I heard that quote so many times, it's not funny nor always true. A series took a different approach doesn't mean it's dead. It all depends on if you can accept the changes to the newer series or not. It may be dead to you, but to many others, Spyro is still alive and kicking, and some even love the restart. Don't try to make it sound like it's dead to everyone. I love the Legend series, sure it's flawed, but it has its ups and downs.
This is kind of why that someday I want to make a couple of topics soon. Thing is, lately I've been thinking about the positive and negative points about the series and wonders what can be fixed to make it more enjoyable. Seeing this topic however, I might try to pull 2 topics off: One to show possible improvements if the Legend of Spyro series continue, and one to show if Sierra or any other company tries to go back without totally killing the Legend franchise. Spyro's in a rough spot, right? He has to do something to put him back on track, and trust me, going back to the classics alone DO NOT solve anything.
Like I said though, as much as I and some others would like to see a bit of classic, I honestly do not seeing it happening no time soon. Unless Sierra like you said, sees the flaws soon, or gives up Spyro to someone else (possible after the movie), I don't see it coming at all. I just think some people need to learn to accept it, hate it or not.
I'll understand you're opinion, but I will stick to mine.
As for your story, I read a bit a year or so ago, but I stopped reading fanfictions for a while. I got back into them. Once Age of Heroes Book 2 is finished, I'll see what I can do about looking at your stories.
EDIT: I just thought this up, but about why I really enjoy the LoS series...well, I see it as a potential holder. Right now, the Legend trilogy has ended, and leaves space for something new and unique. We don't know why Sierra will do next, so all we can do is wait. I, for one, have faith that Sierra will pull something off that's better. And in all honesty, I didn't expect none of the LoS games to be that good, since it was a rather quick reboot. I'm sure the next trilogy will be tons better than Legend. All we can do is wait and see. If I could, I would love to help them out with it and hopefully trying to erase such flaws (at least some that can still be disposed of without harming the series), but I'm really much of a game specialist or anything, so...yeah.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Well I have not put my two cents into any debates about this subject in months, and for good reason seeing as how we wanted to cut down on the flame wars between comparing LoS and the Originals, but so long as you guys keep it professional like you're doing it's all good.
I admit that when they created LoS I was mad, most fans were because we didn't want to see a serious shift away from the original "spirt" of Spyro. I didn't play the games at all until I got so bored that I tried them for the heck of it. I ended up really enjoying the first one and the other two games to a degree, but I'm the kind of guy who will always see the best in something despite it's faults.
Plainly said, LoS has a heck of a lot of mistakes, we all know that, but it also had the potential to be so much freaking more had the games not been rushed and the story not so freaking cliched. I really liked the idea of the duel storyline with Cynder and Spyro that could have been used in TEN, instead of keeping thins so one dimensional. The voice acting shouldn't have made a huge difference besides the fact actors are meant for acting in movies. Most of them don't know how to bring an animated character to life. That's why their are professional voice actors, and they certainly wouldn't run up as huge a bill as actors.
The series was a relative disappointment, but it was clearly directed towards a certain age group and not all the Spyro fans as a whole. They stated that when they rebooted Spyro they knew that not all the original fans would like the idea, and they still went ahead with it.
As far as I can see LoS has still managed to keep people relatively interested in Spyro as a whole, when a couple years ago heck I had practically forgotten about it. I give them props for doing that much, but yes I agree that it was rushed and not much thought was put into the overall quality.
I liked the ideas that Jamique presented in his stories when I read them...but put yourself in Activision or Sierra's shoes. A story like that would make their average audience scratch their heads and wish like hell things were more simple. They're corporations who are in in it for the overall business, and that leads to $$$.
Money is always going to be the driving force behind any undertaking, and the passion that goes into creating them is just a benefit if they are really passionate about what they make. The original games had a lot of passion thrown into them because it was Insomniac's flagship at the time, they wanted the series to present them in a good light. Then you have someone like Sierra who has made dozens and dozens of games, I doubt they really cared it the overall quality was good or not.
Do I think that the average older fans like us have better imaginations? Heck yes I do. Just about anything I can find in the fanfiction sections is better then what they will implement into a game.
I enjoyed the LoS series for what it was...and I do agree with Jay in the fact that it does give a lot more to offer in terms of continuing with the story and such, and returning to the old games would only divide the fanbase once again. Right now their is a very large following for LoS as well as the old fans who are still spiteful over the changes originally made. Doing it again would cause another huge section of fans...that offer $$$ to go nuts and lose all that business.
That's why I think that they will keep LoS in the loop. I really think they're going to milk that for all it has...seeing as how despite how older fans feel the games are still popular in the eyes of their targeted audience. Either way they will always go where the money truly is.

I pretty Much agree, XReddragonX. Going Back to the original Storyline would be pointless now. But If TLOS wasn't created in the First place, that'll be a whole lot better.

Yeah...unfortunately we don't have any real power over what they do. Being a fan is pretty much just limited to watching others decide the best course of action they believe in...which is usually driven by money not passion for storytelling.

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
Look... Not EVERYONE will be pleased with a game. I for one am glad that the newer games came out and they kicked out the older ones. Now I have played Spyro since the first one, so don't say I am new to the games and don't know what the old games have been like.
If you want the original games back, there's only one thing to do... Stop buying the newer ones!
Yet we all know that won't happen... They will keep making these games, and we will keep buying them... Whether we like them or not! Which means that the people who want the originals back, but buy the newer ones are just naive and ignorant of common sense to a normal degree... It's very basic people! If you don't like something, then don't buy it! You don't buy broccoli if you don't like it, you don't buy clothes if you don't like them. Why buy a game if you don't like it?

Re: hope oridginall spyro will be back
No reason to get this worked up about it. We were just discussing the subject gently. Anyways try not to make statements so explosive as to avoid Flame wars that we don't want.
Yes the games will move on regardless of what fans think or not...they will always go where the money is leading. People don't have to like it but that's why they have the original games so they can keep playing them.
