The originals are flawless!
How dare you defile their good name. lol. :-P
I know your just joking but yeah They did have flaws. One of them being too easy, another being too glitchy, I liked some of the glitches though ![]()

Re: Anyone hate the original games?
I like the Legend of Spyro most.
The originals were like 1 hit on an enemy & it's dead,
but with tLoS you like have to put up a fight...
Yeah, but that's how many platformers such as Mario, Sonic, and Crash (well, back then) are. It's kind of common. Since there's very few levels in the Legend of Spyro series, putting up a fight in most areas does extend the time it takes to beat the game.
The main problem when it comes to "putting up a fight" in the Legend of Spyro series however was that Spyro had very few moves to attack his enemies. In A New Beginning and The Eternal Night, it was pretty much 3-4 hits on the ground, sending up in the air, and a few more combos before pushing them away from you (or just use your breath attacks a lot). Dawn of the Dragon did it better, but I still wish you had a more decent move set.
I have a great deal of ideas to type someday that could probably increase the popularity of the Spyro series, but with school going on for me and graduation draws near, I don't really have the time.
____
As for the Old Spyro games. I have played them, but I was really late. My PSX broke right before my chance at Spyro, so I had to wait until I got a Playstation 2, which was...2 years ago or less, I think. It was around the time A New Beginning came out. To be honest, I didn't see much hype in the originals, but I'm thinking it's because I played A New Beginning first, then the first 3. Also, I started playing Spyro with A Hero's Tail, which is in my opinion, very addictive a few times around.
If I played the originals when I still had my PSX, or before the Legend of Spyro series came out, I'm pretty sure I might have had a change of heart with the originals. They aren't bad, but my patience didn't hold up with them. Year of the Dragon was good though, I admit.

Re: Anyone hate the original games?
If you want to try and improve the Spyro series through your own ideas and talents then go to school for it. Hard stuff but really pays off in the end especially if you're passionate about it. It's awesome that so many on the forum have ideas to improve the series but will in no way bring any impact because they don't have time to do it or whatnot....heck if 1/4 of the amount of people who said they wanted to bring better ideas to Spyro in the future actually went after that idea then we would have hundreds of great developers now.

Re: Anyone hate the original games?
Well, thing is, once I get out of school and go to college, I aim to be an artist or graphic artists for media based things like video games and such. Hey, you never know, if I become a good enough artist for cartoons/anime, I might try to make a Spyro cartoon or something. ...You never know.
Well, I'm sure some people can send ideas to the people if they can. Whether or not they listen is the problem, but in my opinion, if people put effort into making their ideas and not being so simple and doing things that you can't see happening (like bringing back the original Spyro), the producers may open their eyes and ears a bit more at what people can contribute.
I got some projects and such to do for school later on today. If I got time on the weekends, I'll post all the ideas I can dish out. I've been writing out some for a while. We'll see what happens.

Re: Anyone hate the original games?
That right there is a very good way to go about it. I just don't see anyone who talks about making or helping Spyro games in the future actually go all the way through with it.....it would be nice to see someone looking to develop that inner talent and ambition ![]()

Well, I'm not that good at trying to help out the series or anything really. Some of the ideas are just spontaneous and helps me think that the series can be better.
I'll put as much effort into as possible, but I know some may not agree with what I got planned. It's nothing crazy or anything, but the ideas I have developed over a small period of time is basically to help out the game in terms of Gameplay and Replay Value if possible. Storyline is pretty much up to the developers, but I may make a little recap of the series to conclude like, who is around, who's dead, what happened, and so on. For now though, I just got to write down what I got planned before typing it. Like a Rough Draft or something.

Ideas are ideas man. So long as it's what you want to do then go for it.

Re: Anyone hate the original games?
Ops yea, ANB. Tangled up with some other novel that I was reading.

I don't find it particularly impressive, but if it is regarded as the best in the series (some people say DOTD is better, yes?) then I kinda dread when I have to play through TEN.
If you are playing for the story line then I would definitly say that DotD was better... tEN is close to as good though...
Game play wise You have the best behind you... The next one is bad game play and good ending as far as plot only.
DotD is better than tEN as far as game play and the plot had a slight nose on it...
That is just my opinion though.
