Crash Twinsanity

Hi guys, I wanted to post up a topic on Crash Twinsanity my fav Crash game. I wanted to show you why I like game the so much and how I felt
about it. But first let me give you some info.

Story:

Wicked Twins have invaded the island home of Crash Bandicoot,
revealing their plans to destory Dr. Cortex, enslave Crash and his
friends, and devastate their world.

To face this great evil, Crash must team up with his creator and archenemy, Dr. Cortex. Also along for the adventure are Dr. Cortex's
young niece Nina Cortex, and Crash's sister Coco.

Who are the Twins? They threaten revenge against Dr. Cortex, but why?
And where are they from?

Using Dr. Cortex's Psychetron machine, the Crash Team must travel
between dimensions in order to solve the mystery of the Twins' identity,
before finally confronting the evil duo in person.

Character Info:

Crash Bandicoot

Crash was an ordinary bandicoot whose life was forever changed in a
failed experiment performed upon him by the evil Dr. Cortex. He would
be happy to spend his days basking in the warm sun, but adventure will
not leave him alone.

Dr. Neo Cortex

Dr. Neo Cortex is an evil scientist and the creator of Crash Bandicoot and
also his sworn enemy, for Crash has ruined every one of Cortex's wicked
schemes. Now Cortex has to swallow his pride and work with that meddling marsupial, at least until the opportunity arises to turn things
to his advantage. This is the worst day of his life...

Nina Cortex

Nina is Dr. Cortex's beloved niece. When she began to show disturbing
signs of kind heart, Dr. Cortex made a few modifications and sent her to
study at the Academy of Evil. Nina still has warm feelings for cute  animals, but now they avoid her hugs for fear of being crushed by her
spring-loaded, steel tarp hands. Now she's skipping school to lend her
uncle a bionic hand against the Evil Twins.

Cuts:

Not because I like the game because of it's gameplay. Twinsanity was one of the very few Crash games which has many lost features. I felt so
sad for this.  :'(

N. Trance was originally to appear in the game to try and make a crossover between the Traveller's Tales and Vicarious Visions storylines of the Crash Bandicoot series. The N. Trance model was built and textured, but was removed due to the large number of characters that would appear in the treasure scene, thus making the scene slow to load.

In the concept art and storyboards, there were signs of an Evil Coco appearing in the game, but she doesn't appear in the final game.

Early on in the development cycle, there was to be a level set on the floor of a dry ocean bed. There was a cutscene in which Cortex spies a Power Crystal concealed within the mouth of a giant clam. As he approaches it, the clam snaps shut on his head, causing Cortex to run around frantically, and this leads straight into another Doc Amok Level (like Totem Hokem and Bandicoot Pursuit). Crash would've had to clear toxic barrels and other obstacles out of the way. About a third of the way through, Cortex falls into a small rock pool, and emerges with a squid grabbing onto his head. About two thirds of the way through, he emerges with a giant shark with its jaws clamped tight around his head. Considerations were also made for the level to continue through
the wreckage of N. Gin's battleship, stranded on the sea floor.

As well as N. Sanity Island, the other two islands from the first Crash Bandicoot game were going to be included. The second island made use of the huge tree (a level in which Nina Cortex used her abilities to swing and climb all the way to the top, above the clouds), and the ancient temples. Also on this island, the Komodo Brothers have set up a racetrack, In a parody/tribute to the Sega game OutRun, Cortex (still in his Coco disguise) would sit in the passenger seat, frantically complaining about Crash's driving, while Crash drove speedily around the track. The gimmick however was that the vehicle had no brakes.

Coco Bandicoot was originally to be a playable character. All of her levels would take place inside Cyberspace, where she used her skills to hack her way through computer systems. When she was in this mode, she wore an all-black jumpsuit, and had a variety of jumping and sommersault kicks at her disposal. The levels themselves looked like a cross between Tron and The Matrix, and the first of these levels was to be called "Security Insanity", where Coco had to hack into the security system of Cortex's old laboratory/castle from the first game. The main enemies featured throughout this level were to be the lab assistants dressed up to look similar to the Agents from The Matrix. Once Coco has hacked her way into Cortex's old lab, the Airship was unlocked, and all 3 characters would head off to the Academy of Evil.

A cut level named "Gone a Bit Coco" featured Cortex being transported into Coco's brain.

A cut Level called " The Lava Caves" from the 10th Dimension, was originally going to be Ice Climb's opposite, but had to be cut.

Another level that was cut at a very early stage was called "Megalomaniac Mind Mania." The Psychetron would transport Crash into Doctor Cortex's Brainovial Hyperbarium. The aim was to explore Cortex's twisted mind and discover the identity of the Evil Twins. Every enemy character was an ugly version of Doctor Cortex. The whole level was also to be a musical number sung by Doctor Cortex called Take a Walk Through My Brains.

Victor and Moritz(The Evil Twins)were originally to be named Squabble and Sqwawk.

Nina Cortex was originally created as a character for an earlier version of Crash Nitro Kart when it was to be developed by Traveller's Tales. At this early stage, it was not clear whether she was going to be Neo's daughter or niece, hence the deliberate discrepancies regarding her relation in Twinsanity. Her appearance was actually based slightly on one of the designers at Traveller's Tales Oxford (this hasn't been confirmed nor denied) and she was to wear a white lab coat (like Neo Cortex) and have red hair. A red-haired Nina can still be seen in the level Classroom Chaos when Cortex rings a bell to make several students run a robotic janitor over.

According to the concept art, there was originally to be a level in the 10th Dimension where everything would be devoid of color. Only Crash would be be in color, until certain sections were completed and then color would start fading into the world.

In the cutscene prior to the High Seas Hi-Jinks level, Dingodile was originally to be sitting down in his shack for a romantic meal with Tawna as opposed to reading a book. Due to time constraints, this cutscene was shortened, but the storyboards still appear depicting this in the Extras gallery.

There was originally to be a good Cortex that would greet Crash and Cortex upon arriving in the 10th Dimension. Due to time constraints, this was left out.

Originally, when the Psychetron paralyzed Coco, it was going to cause her to mutate into a monstrous creature called Monster-Coco, wich would fill in the cut out of Evil Coco. However, it was unknown while this was cut.

Originally, when Coco was paralyzed by the Psychetron, Cortex would take this opportunity to humiliate her even more by drawing a mustache, glasses, and eyebrows on her face with a marker.

Originally, when you walked into Crash's garden outside Crash's house, a blue monkey wearing a bowler hat would leap on you and wrestle you to the ground. A gameplay mechanic (similar to Rollerbrawl) would take place, whereby you had to pin the monkey to the ground for long enough in order to escape.

Working titles for Crash Twinsanity include Crash Evolution, Crash Bandicoot: Fully Fluxed, Crash Bandicoot: A Whole New Dimension, and Crash Bandicoot: Tandemonium. Another name, Crash Unlimited, even made it onto a PAL demo of the game, ops2m Demo 50.

Neo Cortex was originally going to follow Crash into N. Gin's Battleship disguised as Coco as to not attract the wrong kind of attention. N. Gin, mistaking Cortex for Coco, would swing in and snatch Cortex, carry him high into the rigging, and confess his love to "her", who soon reveals himself to be Cortex.

In the Rooftop Rampage level, the hooks that Nina grabs and swings on were originally to be cute birdies and lizards. She was to grab the animal because she loves animals so much, but would accidentally squeeze them until their eyes popped out. This idea was cut due to the gross factor, and the animals were replaced with gargoyles.

Cortex would originally talk reluctantly whenever he triggered a switch.

Early on in development, there was going to be a level that took place on a massive locomotive in the 10th Dimension, and you would fight Koala Kong at the end of the level. This level was cut, deemed too complicated to implement.

This game was great, 5th best crash game i believe...
not bad at all, in my 25 favourite games, defiently.
yeah i saw that spyro scene, it looked really cool
the crossover would have been cool too, but i dont like vicarious visions

Ž · I also liked this game because of it's uniqueness in NOT being able to switch through levels instantly, and you have to walk all the way back to go there, which is very good. The second time I played this through, I 100% it in about 5 hours 32 minutes, but gah I rushed that one. At least the comedy is still there!

Yeah and Spyro appearing there was a very big ROFL.

I have seen many fans saying that Crash purple isn't a good game. Is it because the game was too short?

I don't think everyone here knows about this game since you all are Spyro fans but not Crash. May be it's because of the topic's title since it doesn't seem to be Spyro related, so not many members come to topics which doesn't seem to be Spyro related.  sad
