Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
Uh, let me just quote myself.
And yet it's entirely possible for a new company to go back and look at what Insomniac did right, and make a next-gen game still fresh and new, but still feel like the same series.
We won't know until they finish DotD. Whether they'll redo the old series with more graphics, or just move on to another Spyro game.

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
I think it's unlikely they'll return to the traditional games, but I still have hope, which is why I'm on these forums. From what I've seen so far in DotD, it still looks like they haven't learned much. It still seems to have that repetitive combat, and now reaction commands. Even the gems are reduced to being nothing but rations to supply your repetitive combat. How much more God-of-war-esque can they get? Regardless of how I may feel about the horrible storyline and character design and development, I am going to play it because the flying looks neat and at least the worlds don't seem to be terribly linear anymore. At least I HOPE they aren't.

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
I don't care much for graphics in general. Graphics that really impress me are for their uniqueness, like in Kingdom Hearts, Wind Waker, Okami, etc. Otherwise, they don't matter much to me in the way of making a great game.
But yes, the free-roaming sounds nice.

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
Still going on about it, eh? Once DotD is done I can finnaly find a way to fill in the gaps and tie the two seperate series back together...somehow.
I don't care how it looks but how it functions

I don't see that happening, The old series have been closed and a new series has open. the game is a reboot which means they remade spyro's story. You can all wish for the old game too pop back in but who knows they may or may not do it ![]()

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
We all enjoyed the old Spyro, but it was back when we were young and when it was for the old PS1 era. There will be changes everywhere in the future, including in games and its characters. We all just have to get used to it.
[sub]I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to dispute this.
I still enjoy the old Spyro games to this day. I never liked them because they were cutting edge at the time or because I was young. I liked them because I liked the games.
No, I don't want to just play the same three games over and over. I wish, like Kazoobie64 said, that they could have changed Spyro while retaining the same lighthearted, casual feel of the old games, but I also recognize that this will not happen, so I'm content with replaying the first three again every once in awhile.
As for "we all just have to get used to it": Not necessarily. I've played the new Spyro, and I don't like it. It's not a style of game I'd normally play, but you (and quite a few other TLoS fans) are telling me I should like it the way it is just because it happens to say "Spyro" on the cover? Makes no sense. It's the same old thing I've been hearing since coming back here: "old Spyro fans can't accept change." Um, yeah, we can, we just don't like that change.
OK, here's an example. I'm going to totally recreate TLoS Spyro. He's now a giant, two-legged, purple dragon-ish looking thing holding a gun. The object of the game is to destroy the world by shooting all the humans and eating their heads off.
What's that? You don't like it? Well, you can't accept change, then. The game is called "Spyro", after all. Just get used to it. [/sub]

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
I agree. With Crash Bandicoot, they have changed they style of gameplay alot and have also changed the characters appearence and personalitys. I dont Crash of the Titans much but i have loads of people telling me that i should just like it because it says Crash on the cover. But they have changed the gameplay so much that i just dont like it. With TLOS however, i know that the gameplay has changed but because AHT and ETD were so bad, im happy for the change, yet with Crash, Twinsanity was actually a decent game but they went and screwed it up.
