Monster Hunter
The new monster hunter game, Monster Hunter Three Tri, has had its date of release opened to the US public. We are expecting it sometime in 2010 as well as Europe. This topic is for those out there who are interested in this series and for those who may want to get interested into this series.
Now as we all know Monster Hunter is in a category all its own for gaming, and if there is another game out there like it, I have yet to learn about it. So far we have seen some amazing things from these guys, with the bosses and the monsters, the fighting machines, as well as the graphics! But what i want to know is not my opinion but yours, because I already know my opinion, so what is yours?
How do those who have played this series before liked it? Was it any good for you, and for those of you who are interested, maybe you can take from this an idea of what the monster hunter series may be like for you from the vantage point of other players of the game. You may be disuaded or you may be encouraged, it is up to you to figure out whether you will like it or not.
My opinion is as follows
Rating: 9.2/10
Monster Hunter is a game like none other out there (at least to the best of my knowledge anyway.) So of course it is going to be an incredibly unique experience.
As well as being a unique gaming experience there is no actual "campaign" for this game, instead there are merely missions that you do and that you can do over and over again, because there is no storyline. Now they gave it no storyline because in all honesty a monster hunter video game with a story line would not be a monster hunter game, hence the "unique gameing experience".
Now just because this game is good doesn't mean that everyone can do it, some will be incredible at it and some won't be, but practice is what makes you good at this game. But that isn't to say there aren't some people who play this game that can own even the toughest bosses by themselves. There ARE people that good, and I am one of them, though I can't go all the way and do all the high rank monsters, no, not yet anyway. But I have met one person who hunts G-rank (imagine trying to destroy a tank using a two foot long stick, its gonna be hard, if not impossible).
Now I gave this game a 9.2 out of 10 because it is one of the most incredible games out there, and there really aren't to many things bad about this game. But let me point out a few before you anxious buyers go out and possibly waste money on a ganme you might not like.
First off, the game so far has been limited to Sony's game systems PS2 and PSP.
Monster Hunter (the first one on the PS2) is a very good game but is very hard to find now unless you go online, that game was amazing but the weapons and armor system was not, it was very hard to make any good amror from monsters, you would have to slay one monst about 10 to 20 times to get a full set of that monster's armor.
I have not played Monster Hunter 2 for the PS2, sorry. But this was when they introduced hunting horns and bows (not bowguns but actual bows that shotarrows, so it must be interesting)
Monsert Hunter Freedom (the first one on the PSP) was said to be good, but very similar to the first one on the PS2, somewhat hard to make the armors and get the rare items and make the weapons. But it was improved slightly in the means of fighting monsters and in that game (from what I have heard) was when they introduced the ability to improve armor with armor spheres.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 was the pinacle of the monster hunting gaming when it came out with new maps and new monsters as well as the subspecies, which may have been in the freedom game but I am not entirely sure since I have never played 2 or freedom1. But it was most certainly an incredible game because of the new system with hammers and hunting horns, and katanas which were now faster and and lighter and could be used to strike at opponents with the "spirit gauge" which increased your attack and allowed you to use combos.
Monster Hunter Freedom Untie is the most recently realeased in US and Europe and is just an extension of Freedom 2 and allows you to fight high rank monsters in the solo quests so that for those who don't knwo where to go to play online of for those who son't like to play online could get the materials and have the experience of fighting tougher monsters.
Now this series of game gets 9.2 because up until Freedom 2 and Unite the game could have use a few improvements because when I had the first monster hunter on PS2 I couldn't go online and now I can because the PSP uses wi-fi which really boosted the rep of monster hunter and now Three Tri uses the wii which can also use wi-fi and can go cross city and nationwide which will boost monster hunter rep even further in the US and Europe.
Overall this series was an incredible experience but at its starting point it needed improvement and over time that is exactally what it did and now it is one of the biggest names in Japan Gaming and maybe soon it could be one of the biggest in US or Europe.
So now that you have heard my opnions I would like to know what you think so leave comments about it or if you want to get in contact with me to maybe learn more about monster hunter and what lies inside email me at: [email protected]
Thenks guys and I hope some of you out there are ready for Three Tri when it comes out next year and those potential buyers might want to take a look at this post.
Purple Dragon King was a name I developed over time as I began to go from closet Spyro fan to open Spyro fan. It has significance to me not just because of Spyro but it is also my favorite color and my first girlfriend called me by PDK. So next time you see my post think of the king of purple!!!!!!!
