Re: Insomniac Games Vs. Sierra
I agree on you there, the new ones lack:
*A Decent Storyline
*No platform activity what so ever
*Nice Original Music
That's Just Some Of The Reasons.
@Gwenio
Please Post The Reason Why You Dislike the originals.

Well those are your own personal oppinions of course...it's different for everybody. I really enjoyed the work done by Insomniac and EL...they both did pretty good jobs. One of the really good things the old series had going for it was it's new look in a new market.
The orginal Spyro was very innovative for it's time...and thus enjoyed a great deal of success...hence why it has the legacy it has today. ETD and AHT really undid a lot of the quality work that Insomiac did....and it left the series hanging out to dry for awhile.
On your points.....I think the LOS had a much better storyline then any of the originals did.....the plateform activity wasn't very good as you said...so I do agree with you there.....and on the music...you must have no tasted because the music in LOS was one of the highlights of the series.
The older games were just as good...so don't believe I'm taking something away from that...I just disagree with your point.
And of course you have many other reasons because just like Ratchet you prolly hate the new series very much...and their attempt to reintroduce Spyro in a new way. But hey...it's open oppinions.
For both as a whole...I would have to say I enjoyed the first games a tad bit more...but I still highly enjoyed LOS....I would play any of them any day...they are all part of the Spyro franchise..so I support them.

@OP: You are aware this will probably start a flame war over "which is better", supposedly, right?
BACK ON TOPIC:
I like both the Spyro series. ![]()
They're all really fun to me, and plus who wouldn't love our little purple amigo Spyro? ![]()
And before someone pulls some-crap about "they're different Spyros"/"TLoS sucks"/"Originals suck", Don't try pulling that on me. I'll likely Either

or
B] Ignore you. >_>
Most likely B. I don't own a brick at the moment

Insomniac ftw. ETD wasn't that bad, though. It was hundreds of times better than LoS.

There's your chance to whoever said they would throw something above lol....even I said all it was gonna do was start a flame war between the old series lovers and the new ones....and you have plenty of them willing to voice their oppinions..lol
Oh and ETD was horrible....I don't know how you could say it was better the all the LoS...then again I forgot you really loved the old ones...that's why...ETD could have been so much better...It's a disappointment..specially since it helped create the decision to reboot.

Hahaha, well if you really want to see my rant.... I figured no one would want to, so I just stuck to the four-word post. This is a review I wrote specifically about ANB, but it can apply to all of TLoS:
Change is Good, Just not this Change.
Submitted by Stormy
Score: 1.5
Good: The story is fairly well-developed, albeit cliche. The vocal music is gives the game more of the epic feel it was going for.
Bad: See below.
Comments: As many people who have followed the 'Spyro' series recognize, the games featuring the little purple dragon have been on a steady decline in quality since Insomniac left the scene after 'Year of the Dragon.' I am sad to say that poor Spyro has finally hit an all time low: The Legend of Spyro.
There are so many things wrong with this game that I barely know where to begin. Of all of the changes that the various developers have made to Spyro over the years, this has been the most dramatic-- and not in a good way.
The title of this game boasts 'A New Beginning,' and they're not kidding-- 'The Legend of Spyro' is a complete reboot of the Spyro franchise. If you liked the original trilogy, avoid this one: it bears no similarities to the old games whatsoever apart from the fact that the main character is a purple dragon named Spyro whose sidekick is a yellow dragonfly called Sparx.
Gone is the lighthearted, upbeat feel that the 'Spyro' series was once known for. Instead, Krome and Sierra have gone for the typical cliched 'epic - hero - saves - the - world - from - the - evil - darkness - threatening - to - consume - us - all' type storyline. Unknown hero emerges and discovers that he is destined to save the world? Check. Villain who shares a connection to the special chosen one? Check. *bleep* sidekick? Check. Mary-Sue love interest? Check. I could go on, but that would be about as interesting as watching this painfully predictable saga unfold.
The gameplay is just as dull, if not more so. 'A New Beginning' follows this simple pattern: You watch a cutscene. You walk a few steps forward. You watch another cutscene. Monkeys attack you, and you proceed to beat them to death with your horns and tail, doing "aerial melee combos" and using your "elemental breath types". Repeat this about twenty times until you can finally leave the level (which by that time has become quite tiresome because, not only is it repetitive in gameplay, the sporadic autosave feature forces you on and on until you can find a suitable place to stop) for more cutscenes and another equally dull, linear level. The saddest part of it all is that the gameplay takes very little skill and about zero brainpower. At one point, I handed the controller off to my eleven-year-old sister, who has played very few video games and no combat-style ones, without a word about what button does what. She was able to defeat all of the enemies easily by essentially pressing random buttons. My conclusion: there is no strategy in this gameplay; it's just mindless button-mashing. I'm all for universal play-ability, but I expect at least some kind of a challenge.
Overall, this game was boring at best and frustrating at worst. I give it 1.5/5 and end with the hope that anyone deciding to create games under the name of Spyro in the future will not insult a once perfectly good character by following this template.
For those of you who like the new series better, I really mean no offense, but I feel very strongly about this. If you like the new stuff better, that's cool with me; I just disagree with you. =P

And yes we all know that you are a pro at reviewing games lol...as long as you love the old series you will think the new series sucks lol...anything else besides it is an insult to you. It's all oppinions...and everyone has their own oppinion. All you did was take opportunity of proving what I said was true lol....so I really don't care....you ranted your piece and now you feel much better I'm sure.
Doesn't really matter though...nothing does....unless you happen to be the one developing the next game. I see a lot more people bashing the new series willingly then the old.....but it doesn't matter. Just another topic where everyone is gonna fight. One in just about every single topic now.

Re: Insomniac Games Vs. Sierra
I think Anti_Spyro was getting mixed up between Ratchet and Clank and My username lol.
But yeah, nice review Stormy, i agree 100% (probably just because i don't really like the new Spyros)
Oh and about the TLOS music, just because it has some choir in it, and some orchestra, doesn't make it "nice music".
It's boring, and the only reason anyone would listen to it is if they are doing yoga. As for "this broken soul", hey, it's a really nice song. But that doesn't make the game any better!
I'm sure the kids who play TLOS would rather listen to the rock tunes of the originals than the outdated orchestral music.
Sierra should of spent less of their budget on Big name voice actors and orchestral tunes to lure kids in, and really should of worked on gameplay, because TLOS's gameplay is horrible, even DOTD, and seeing a game is a GAME not a movie, gameplay should come first.

Re: Insomniac Games Vs. Sierra
Actually, while the music is dull in some places it really isn't bad as a whole. The only problem I have with it, is that it doesn't distinguish the series and can be too exaggerated sometimes. I also said this about the music in A Hero's Tail, which was not too bad either. You can play an mp3 of the music in TLoS in front of someone and ask where they think it's from and they could be like "Zelda?" "Lord of the Rings?" "Final Fantasy?" But put on Copeland's stuff and it's automatically recognizable. It's one of the most unique styles of music that made the series stand out and I really don't know why they can't try to imitate it as there are plenty of real instruments that can imitate the artifical ones. Even then, I don't see the problem in using keyboard as another instrument to back them up, as Phantom of the Opera does it, and the music still sounds great.

Re: Insomniac Games Vs. Sierra
The problem I had with new music is the fact that they are trying waaay too hard to shove epic down out troads....
You know with the heavily orchestrated music and latin chorus....it's kinda stereotypical if you ask me you it's like "What do we do we need epic soundtrack!" "Just add latin chorus in it like everyone else!"
I think it would've been cool is the music was kinda what they did with "His world" in Sonic '06 like the mix of violin and electric guitar....
I think it would fit LOS series but that's just me...
Also just like ratchet said celebrity actors =/= good voice actors....
Gary Oldman and Elijah Wood good and Mark Hamill was THE BEST voice actor in the whole series and they destroyed his voice....
I can name MANY professional voice actors that would've done a better job with voices than big name celebrities they chose....

Re: Insomniac Games Vs. Sierra
They should have gone after the real talent in the voice industry...man I would love to have a shot at doing something like that lol....but yeah props go to Oldman, Wood, and Hamill....because they were def the best in the game....even though they totally screwed over Malefor's voice....the original recording was better.
As for the music in whole...I didn't mind it....I thought it was one of the more decent things about the series....then again I don't really take music as an insult or the fact that they are trying to shove epic down our throats....that's just not how I feel about it.
Any music that gets me into the feel of the level or the emotion of that moment is pretty exceptional...but again that's different for everyone. I didn't like "This Broken Soul".....but I did enjoy "Guide You Home"....that one is on my Ipod. Overall not bad....but as said before...you will know Copeland's music anywhere if you were to hear it....that guy did some cool stuff.

Insomniac FTW.
Like Stormy said, there's no competition what-so-ever. >_>
The new games are just stupid. Especially the fact that you need energy gems to breath fire. Everyone has their own version of dragons, but that's just dumb! It was probably added to make the game more complex, but it's just annoying. I'm SO glad that on my DS version there's a cheat I unlocked that gives you unlimited energy.
