Pokemon Teams/Strategies

[sub]I never new there were so many Pokemon fans here.

Anyways, if you play Pokemon, post your teams, strategies, movesets, or whatever else here. =]

My team on Sapphire will probably end up being something like this:

Sceptile
Vaporeon
Espeon
Umbreon
Gengar
Flygon

Somehow I managed to get lucky and got the exact IVs needed for Hidden Power Fire on Espeon. Now the boring part is going to be EVing them all. [/sub]

Re: Pokemon Teams/Strategies

my strategy is basically just beatdown.  I use a lot of items to up stats on my pokeymans throughout raising them, getting their attack up as high as I can, using some of the most powerful pokemon in the game save for legendaries (metagross and salamence have vicious attack), and try to make as much use of STAB as I can.

Re: Pokemon Teams/Strategies

[sub]I like annoyers. Not used against me, of course, but I somehow don't get bored using them. High attack and special attack is good, but I like at least a decent defense stat most of the time.

I'm not using Snorlax or Blissey, though, because quite a few of DDR_Maniac's Pokemon have Brick Break. T__T[/sub]

Re: Pokemon Teams/Strategies

Brick Break is such a great fighting move.

Too bad you only get 1 TM for it in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. At least you can earn more of them in Diamond.

Re: Pokemon Teams/Strategies

I don't have much of a strategy because I don't really like "serious battling" in 2-player fights. Mostly because I don't think it requires as much skill as it does luck, and because I tire of seeing the same Pokemon being used over and over again. (GRRRN LUCARIO, BLISSEY.) Anyway, this would be the usual team I use in-game and with friends, just for fun, because I like the Pokemon, not because they're powerful:

Psyduck (My all-time favorite Pokemon ever. Anyone want to see my collection?: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v484/ … APGWAP.jpg :3)
Girafarig
Ivysaur
Flareon
Snubbull
Dragonair

I have to re-check their moves, natures and levels later, but they have nicknames and a story behind them. Seen here with a picture I drew: http://community.livejournal.com/pokemo … tml#cutid1

[sub]Dude. You're amazing at drawing. .__.

I used to have a Pikachu collection, but their ears and tails all fell off and stuff because I played with them too much.  =[

Anyways, I know what you mean about the overuseds, but I don't run into that problem much since the only real person I can ever play is my brother. He has a Blissey, though.... I hate that thing. [/sub]

GWAP GWAP GWAP GWAP GWAP.

(PS. It's supposed to be the sound he makes in the Japanese version. People always say it to me when I bring up Psyduck in that livejournal community, so it stuck.)

Re: Pokemon Teams/Strategies

My best Pokemon:

Salamence
Starmie
Tyranitar
Ludicolo
Gengar
Heracross

Yeah, most of them are sweepers. I don't really have much patience for annoyers playing in-game. I also have a Level 100 Charizard, Milotic,  and Swampert, but they aren't EV'd, and have bad natures. :\

I'm working on training:

Blissey (Great with Seismic Toss and Softboiled to annoying people)
Scyther (Scizor for a Baton Passer)
Steelix (Great Defense will balance out all my attack based Pokemon)
Espeon (Another Special Sweeper)
Snorlax (Decent attack, and good Defenses)
Electabuzz (Pretty decent Electric type, which I'm lacking in my team)

I'll end up making two different teams because you can't exactly have 12 in a team.

I have a question about a team. I need three Pokemon for a Battle Tower Team, I'm wondering which ones I should use, and what items to have attached to them. Any moveset suggestions are welcome too.

Re: Pokemon Teams/Strategies

Let's see, I like using Infernape for one, because it can exploit 7 weaknesses combined with its high attack and speed stats, means that you can get some quick KOs (though it does suck defensively).

Re: Pokemon Teams/Strategies

Here's the basic tip:

Don't use standards.

Seriously. I find winning much easier when using my novelty teams, like Dragon Dance Lapras, Facade Clefable, Defensive Tauros, Sp.Def Skarmory.

But of course don't overload with too much novelties. Some of the most poweful standards include Gyarados, Gengar... basically the one with the insane number of resistances would win everything.

...but I have a Bold Zapdos from Pokemon XD if anyone wants it... before I use it up. Come get it, Baton Passing Bold Zapdos -- it doesn't have HP Ice, though.

Obviously, use your tanks wisely. SkarmBliss is pure gay, but too many things counter it today, like FP-Pikachu.

Have at least one counter to either Phazers or Passers. Usually a team will revolve in only either one of them, as a team revolving on both those aspects would be dumb. This is a special reminder to those making Baton Pass Teams like mine, which consists of Floatzel-Espeon-Mr. Mime-Ninjask-Absol-Leafeon... which Mr. Mime is my ultimate savior and Suicune counter.

DON'T USE THE MOVE METRONOME, since Metrohax is gay.

Be patient in IV Breeding. The smallest of aspects can matter largely within a difference of 31 in stats.

Prediction is key to winning. Data analysis while in-battle is the most effective way to do this, hah... like a Gardevoir which I expected to use Thunderbolt on my Skarm, so I switched in to Swampert, which then ate a direct Energy Ball >_<

Speed is one of the most important stats in the metagame. Seriously. Go see for yourself.

Beware of Platinum Movesets. They are quite a number now. It is advised that you get a Trick-counterer (Lopunny) since many things got Trick. Just to brief, a lot of Platinum Movesets completely breaks D/P metagame, like Belly Drum-Aqua Jet-Huge Power Azumarill, Outrage Salamence, Outrage Kingdra, Bullet Punch Scizor, Trick-Spiritomb, Curse-Bibarel. These are just some mighty examples. It's a good thing Blissey still didn't get Wish, fortunately. WishBliss is one of the hardest things to counter >_<

Prediction is key, that's all I can say again.

Best 6-0 I had for now was my Lapras completely sweeping the foe's team entirely. Foe was stupid enough to let me have 6 Dragon Dances.
