The formula WORKS people flock out to see the disney Princess films, its why don bluth started to fall. so when he made Anastashia WITH the princess formula he made money.

Its the same for CoD people get it already so whats the point in stop making it and try somthing new? there Is'nt the CoD formula is what people like so it's commen sence to stick to it.

When a series gets milked for too long it starts to lose its flavor and gets bland and boring. Its like playing the same game over and over and over again. Unless the company tries to branch out and takes risks into making new games. They'll come up with something actually interesting.

Take the Final Fantasy series, Each game is different then the last. Different plots, Different worlds, Different characters. Its what makes it unique and its how its manage to last this long.

Its not just Call of Duty that recycles the same plot and mechanics. Its every *bleep* FPS game since the beginning. Every FPS game is basically you running around killing randomly placed people on a map then once you reach a checkpoint, You get a cutscene then its right back to the map to kill more enemies. There's no variety in the enemies, All the maps are pretty much rehashes of another area in the game only with palette swaps,The A.I is beyond retarded and poorly done, And the plot for each FPS game is pretty much the same. A countries at war....that's pretty much it for plot, Enjoy your 60 dollar rehash of another possibly better FPS game you *********.

I'll take Call of Duty but only because of my love for World War 2. Call of Duty past installment #2 is horrible, but I still play the originals online and have a blast with others. Halo is fun to, just don't play it that much.

Here's my take, I don't mean to start a flame war:

Call of Duty:
- Milked dry, and still being milked.
- Uses the idea of nukes and other giant weapons way too often.
- The same general game engine in every game since CoD 2.
- Maschinenpistole 40 has not changed at all, including its texture and animations.
- Graphics have only been sharpened, not improved.
- Animations are low quality, and the animation system has been the same
for most of the CoD games.
- All guns are low poly.
- The gun sounds sound way too fake and computer-generated.
- It uses too many famous people for its voiceovers.
- Has way too many glitches; most are annoying to deal with.
- The server system is highly unreliable and annoying.
- The people who play the game are a lot more rude than in Halo.
- Everyone gets mad when playing its multiplayer [it's true].
- The spawning system is worse than Halo's.
- The hit detection system is a bit glitchy. Halo's isn't glitchy at all.
- Perks are a bad idea in my perspective.
- Maps are very small, which is a huge no-no in my world.
- Level design is not very good compared to Halo.

Halo:
- Every game is unique and different in its own way, while keeping the old Halo feel.
- Campaigns are all different with their own style and feel.
- The guns stay generally the same, but that is because the Halo games
followed the books. The Halo games actually showed the advances in
technology quite well, disregarding the Equipment things in Halo Reach.
Because Halo Reach happens before all of the other games [regarding its
campaign story], its weapons don't look as advanced as the newer guns
from the later storylines.
- Animations are acceptable, but fit the strength of the spartans. The recoil a
gun makes also matches the type of gun it is; larger guns such as the Sniper
Rifle show more recoil in its animations than, say, a DMR or Battle Rifle.
- Weapons are mid to high poly in Halo 3 and Reach
- Sounds make the alien worlds feel much more relaistic and makes a lot of
the human guns seem real.
- There are a lot less glitches. And the glitches that do exist are a lot more
fun to do than the annoying ones in CoD.
- A gun melee is much more awesome than the 0.2 second knife slash seen in CoD.
- Particle effects are higher in detail and awe.
- Players can drive vehicles.
- There is much better character development in the campaign storylines.
- Multiplayer may be monotonous at times, but not as much as CoD's multiplayer.
- The multiplayer spawning system is a bit better.
- The hit detection system is stronger and more reliable.
- Texture work is a lot more accurate and looks like Bungie actually cares
about the work they're doing.

I don't always play first person shooters.
But when I do, I prefer Halo.

and the cycle carrys on. CoD's repeating itself because its what people what. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

If a formula works for anything then its bound that the formula will be kept, also that said how canm you REALY develop FPS games? there is'nt mutch you can do with them now.

As much as I hate to admit it, my vote goes to Halo. I actually enjoyed Reach. It was horribly cliche, but it was no less fun. That and I am a sucker for level ups like they have in Reach.

I agree completely with that statement. UO is the best version that came out and is currently the only online game I currently still play. Well that and Star Trek Online.

Seemed like they were running out of ideas. Everything felt like a redress of the previous games. Not to mention I felt like the multiplayer was sort of unbalanced to give new players a bigger edge than they should have had.

Sure thing if you want. I play on the Klazyklan server on version 1.4. I don't know if you're running the 1.5 patch and whatnot or if you have both. I'm part of that clan but I spend time on Sack and RD as well.
