Re: newer spyro

Unfortunately the TLOS games are a reboot to the franchise which in turn removes anything and quite possible everything from what made the originals what they are. Spyro's personality, how the game flows, new characters, etc etc are results of a reboot. Personally I found it to be completely and utterly pointless to reboot the series but whats done is done and you'll more than likely find two types of fans on this board: Original Fans and TLOS Fans.

Re: newer spyro

In a nutshell, yeah that's what it is about, in DOTD (Dawn of the Dragon). In truth if you been playing video games for more that five years, and played TLOS you might notice some similarties in this game compared to other media work. Probably the most noticeable is in DOTD  during Chapter 4. That chapter is heavily influenced by LOTR (Lord of the Rings).

Re: newer spyro

You got these two fans (Originals and Legends) on a same board isn't a good thing.

Why, these two different fan groups are going to clash against each other which is happening right now, which will cause a "Spyro Civil War".

I agree
The reboot was just pointless and unnecesary
The franchise at that time wasn't even failing that much that they had no other choice but  to just reboot the whole thing.Yea sure AHT wasn't that great of a game(haven't played it yet tho) but it wasn't terrible same thing with SL.
IMO they should've made an entire new franchise about some dragon and make an epic storyline about it (it would be better) than to take a well know character and turn him into crap by changing his gameplay, story, universe and most of all his god *bleep* personality.they just slapped  his logo onto a cover and thinking that people would like it becouse of that.
It's like making Mario a FPS game and make him swear in his games,
it's just a big NO.
It could've been better if they'd made a*shrudder* Legend of Cynder game (but theres no Spyro and theres never been any Spyro in there)
I gotta say I don't like Cynder at all ,but if it started as her own game and story it could have actually been...some...good.(but it all still depends of the game developer so it could suck ,but it wouldn't affect Spyro and we wouldn't have all these *bleep* flame wars and the fanbase wouldn't be split into two halfs).

They reboot the series so they can make moer games to bleed the franchise dry.

The last thing I would want is a civil war on the forum.

Malefor dude, Malefor smile... yeah, that's basically what happens... I pretty much posted all the events that happened in TLOS in another thread, so if you WANT TO BE SPOILED go there if ya want. hmm

. . . Well that's one way of looking at it :-|. But from what I heard they rebooted the series to re-established, and or, re-introduce the characters... good gravy WTH? Honestly, so freaking, pointless *shakes head*. Just no respect, no respect, for the original fans... BUT I digress, I will not be the one to start a flame war <_<.

Well, technically they are bleeding the franchise dry by making more games based on the same franchise.

. . . Ok wait minute. Do you mean TLOS franchise, or the franchise as a whole? hmm

Either way, it sounds like you are suggesting that they can't come up with anything good for Spyro and will just milk him for what his worth. If so, then trust me, most fans already know this, and I don't blame them for leaving.

Honestly Universal doesn't seem to care much about Spyro or Crash for that matter. <_<

True. The games mirror each other. Combat, combat, combat...

The reason to what I think, The contract that Universal had with Spyro and Crash had a 8 year contract starting in 1998, then later in early 2006 (8 years later), they let the contract expire (I don't know if it's money  issues).

When it expire, Universal gave Sierra a new contract (I don't know how long) for Spyro and Crash. Then in 2008 (months before DOTD was released), Sierra merge with Activision.

Re: newer spyro

Honestly they could've done a better job with DOTD. If they make all the TLOS games like TEN on the GBA on with the awesome graphics and with some improvement to gameplay TLoS would be great
