Re: Not Another Depressing Thread!

Just be patient, ratchet. Just be patient. 1/6th of our lives is not that much. We have gone this far.

Re: Not Another Depressing Thread!

i am upset that 1/6th of our life is just waisted, and that is when we are the most mobile.
think, 1/3 of our life we are middle aged, and we probably cant run very fast at that age even.
i cant se how you can be happy about 1/6th of your life thrown away, and hardly needed. it is much, its like if you went to school every 9 days for the rest of your lfe, except its all clumped together instead. when you say "be patient", its like your saying "WEll for the first 6th of your life you can be tortured and then for the rest uou can go with the flow... and good luck with that"

Goodness, this discussion is much harder than playing TLoS: TEN. :s

You see... It's not all wasted as you think. I think I can remember that you wanted to be a game designer. You need maths to calculate the shadows, render the graphics, make "smart" enemies, count gems/coins and et cetera. Physics is to make crashes realistic, leaves flutter in the wind, dust clouds from the floor and explosion debris spectacular. You actually need it for what you want to do...

And "once every nine days" won't work either. Learning needs consistency, and consistency can be achieved by repetition.

(I can admit I am tired of doing this. It makes my life very repetitive. BUT I still need it.)

Re: Not Another Depressing Thread!

i was speaking similies, i know that we need consistancy. OK, i know that not ALL of our school time is waisted, years K, 1, 2, 3 maybe 4 teach us very helpful stuff like reading and writing for one. And some subjects help you with some jobs. And i also know that we only have school for only 2/3 of the year. but i DO KNOW that school is too widend, they teach too much. Have i learnt anything in maths about Shadows or smart enemies or anything? NO. Have i learnt anything about realistic leacves and all that, NO! Even if i did, i would still have all these other subjects bugging me not to mention all the rest of the jibber jabber from those subjects. i hope i can do game design for the HSC, so some of that time isn't waisted.

Re: Not Another Depressing Thread!

You might be surprised ratchet; you've definitely learned a lot from school, even though you might not think you'ved remembered a thing. IMO, it's time well spent, so don't be disillusioned.

Re: Not Another Depressing Thread!

Well i would be suprised, because i'll be suprised if the things thati have learnt i WILL use. Study says on avarge, only 3% of what you learn in high school counts in the future.

Re: Not Another Depressing Thread!

it was in a book in the library in school, not on a webpage. I tried looking it up on wikipedia but it isn't there. the title is something like "All you need to know about the education system".
If you dont believe me, that is fine, i understand that i dont really have any proof.
