Hm... this I gotta think about deeply...

It has to do something that exists in all matter...

It couldn't be atoms or something, HEH, that would be too deep.

Another thing that exists in everything is color. That may be one answer.

...and now I'm out of ideas.

EDIT: I've asked for a bit of help on this one, since shadow and color are the closest I can get...

Klone: Life?
Zekira: No, non-animate objects don't have life.
Klone: ok, how about light?
Klone: No, scrap that.
Zekira: The current best answer I have are shadow and color.
Zekira: He said shadow was close, but it wasn't the answer.
Klone: then dark?

It's sensical but tricky... because there are a lot of riddles I know that is similar to this.
