Blu-Ray wins format war. HD-DVD Dead.

Toshiba is probably going to announce in the coming weeks that HD-DVD will be discontinued once and for all. So, Blu-Ray wins and will replace DVD in the next 2-4 years! Just thought I'd let you guys know. DON'T BUY AN HD-DVD PLAYER! YOU WILL HAVE BOUGHT A SYSTEM THAT WILL NOT HAVE ANY SUPPORT!!!!

Blu-Ray had hundreds of movie studios supporting it including Disney, Paramount, Fox, LucasArts, etc.

HD-DVD has Universal which had announced that it will go Blu-Ray exclusive by the end of the summer.

I have a feeling this isn't over yet. I wholly doubt Toshiba will bow out gracefully, as they've put a lot of energy into the HD-DVD Player.

Check G4.com. Toshiba is backing out. Blu-ray is outselling HD-DVD 15-1 in Europe. Walmart has stated that they will not be ordering any more HD-DVD players and they will no longer support the format. Target is considering it as well. Blu-Ray has PS3 powering it and Blu-ray discs are flying off store shelves. HD-DVD will not survive 2008.

This is too true, DFOKN.

Look at the current prices for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players. Both are expensive, somewhere between $500 to $900, and the PS3 costs way less than that, and it can do alot more than just play hi-def movies.

Blu-Ray Player- $459
HD-DVD- $170

HD-DVD has dropped its price $600 in the last few months. HD is gone.

I've always thought: why the heck do you want a Blu-Ray? It's expensive, and you can't really tell much of a difference in picture quality. Save your money! Heck, I might've even bought a PS3 if they didn't include Blu-Ray compatability.

Whether others agree or whether I'm just plain ignorant, there you go.

You must not have an HD-TV then. I have compared them side by side and Blu ray shows an INCREDIBLE difference. Trust me, Blu ray is the reason PS3 in Europe and catching Wii in the U.S. and Japan.

I go 100% with this..I had Spider-Man 3 for Blu-Ray and It was sooo clear I cried!XDI do have it though.

XD I am getting tired of the HD this and HD that and we are brodcasting to you in HD....I dont have HD so you guys are wasting your money.....But blue ray.....those work better then HD i must admit. I watched a movie in HD it looked the same....I Watched a movie in Blue Ray....the graphis seemed to pop out more.
