General Question about a Comp.
Lately, I'm wondering how the hell my Drive C: filled up, and it is gradually decreasing itself even if there is no process running.
So I tried to inspect with a lot of anti-viruses. Seems like nothing is wrong.
But now that I've been inspecting, the folder C:\Windows must be reading itself with wrong space...
...as I've highlighted all of its components and clicked Properties, then it said it only takes up 2GB...
...YET THE FOLDER PROPERTY (WINDOWS) SAYS THAT IT TAKES UP 11GB.
This begins to irritate me as the notice about low space on Drive C keeps popping up. Anyone knows the cause of this? I'd only take up 9 GB when I recounted all the files on drive C:, yet it says I already took up 19.xxGB!

Re: General Question about a Comp.
did you highlight the 'hidden' files when you counted? I forgot how you un-hide them, but there is a way.

Re: General Question about a Comp.
Well in the controle pannel or somewhere there is a folder management file that allowes you to make certain folders invisible. I use this a lot just to annoy the crap out of those who use my computer. :*bleep*in:
Oh boy.. Let me get on my teachers computer. We can't access the controle pannel from student computers.
I know I've had this problem as well.
Sometimes when I go into an empty folder it says there are so many documents in there when obviously there is nothing. :-P
Edit:
Okay yeah. It's called folder options then it's under the view tab.
You probably already knew that but I suppose a reminder never hurt.
I'll try looking into this more at my house where I won't be as afraid to mess something up.
Has it been gradually increasing or did you just get this computer and it said you had all this crap on it?

Re: General Question about a Comp.
Could it be Temporary files?
well, just my thought, sometime it's eat up ~3GB for my computer last time.
Try Defragment too, this also help both disk space and hard-disk to reach the files faster.

Re: General Question about a Comp.
There are hidden files/folders in /windows/, I would think its temporary files if its not anything else, maybe a cache for a online game's data? Just a guess.

Re: General Question about a Comp.
I've been researching and Windows XP does take up 10 GB of space.
But now I wonder...
...why the hell are temporary files never getting deleted in this comp??? I keep having to delete them manually.
Since Drive C: is only 20GB you could say we have a weak hard drive.
