Announcement Trailer
So what are we thinking here? Who’s this villain? How is the flight going to work with the platforming? Will Spyro and Cynder Get Merry?

Re: Announcement Trailer
It's great to have a good reason like this game announcement to peek back into the old forums! I'm cautiously, excitedly optimistic about the game
The tiny bit of gameplay looks promising. I'm not a huge fan of this particular modern style of graphics, but I guess it can't be avoided in this age.
My immediate thought was that the odd birds in the opening seconds reminds me of Lofty Castle's dragon bird creatures, so from the start there's a reassuring hint of classic Spyro. Trying to tie things even more to the original game, I'm not sure if that grassy field is meant to be in the dragon realms or the "Realms Beyond", but I guess it could conceivably represent a location near Stone Hill, and that the cabins/houses are the homes of the good old shepherd enemies, and in that way it excuses the worriyngly generic look of that scene.
I'm hoping the villain is the Sorcerer as speculated, because even though Shadow Legacy wasn't a good game, I still have some nostalgia towards it. Rather more expecting him to be a new invention by Toys For Bob, though, unless they're neatly trying to bring in elements from across the Spyro franchise's full lifespan.
I like the look of this Spyro better than his Reignited form, mostly because they've toned down his belly; it doesn't remind me so much of a yellow plastic shield anymore lol. It's honestly a reasonable (more) grown-up interpretation of the original Spyro.
The desert scene looks quirky with its massive succulent plants, while somewhat genericly bland, but I'm guessing they're just pointing the camera away from an awesome fortress or temple structure or something equally interesting which they'll reveal later. The overgrown ruins level looks beautiful and like it'll be fun to explore. The bits of architecture and statues reminds me of classic Spyro, so it seems to me like they're trying to stick to the "correct" environment vibe, just with much more sprawlingly big levels which combine better with the free flight mechanic than with purely classic Spyro controls.
Overall, I get the feeling Toys For Bob are trying to appeal to basically every iteration of Spyro fans, but with most of the classic Spyro formula at the core, a somewhat darker tone, and sprawling, modern levels, and I think they may succeed at that even if many people might still miss things being _exactly_ like they used to be.
