i hardly ever use Steam [right now] but i've heard tons of horror stories. when they got rid of Steam Greenlight, it was supposed to (somehow?) cut down on the amount of low-quality... basically *bleep*-posting that was going up on there. "Steam Direct" is where you give Steam $100 and your game goes up immediately. the pricetag apparently isn't discouraging people, and now Steam is flooded, daily, with nothing but low-quality, ugly stuff that should be free on flash websites etc but instead is being sold as full retail products. the few good things that make it on are buried in a pile of lazy/broken/ugly/etc "games".

also, "Steam Direct" was supposed to solve an error where a few games were released without the executable file needed to START THE GAME but apparently that didn't work, a few games are still getting through without executable files.

Valve are apparently actively refusing to do anything about this, stating that unless video games contain content that's literally illegal, they will not intervene. they also forbid games that "are trolling", but what does that even mean?

recently, Valve, who as mentioned in the link above allowed a game about school shooters to stay up on their storefront until news outlets got mad at them for it, have suddenly taken issue with a VERY SMALL HANDFUL of particular games related to the Hong Kong protests, and are dragging their feet on solving these vague issues, leading many to think they're trying to kiss China's butt like Blizzard.

i'm not a game developer so i'm not too concerned, just kind of annoyed. i really wouldn't want to be a developer right now though yikes seems things are really complicated for them.

I think they'll be okay. Hope they will be cause they definetly deserve their masterful works enjoyed on PC if they release it on there. So Steam whoever hopefully people can enjoy people's games in some form.
