on one hand, that's really strange, but on the other hand... i could honestly see that happening where i live, too tongue "i don't get paid enough for this job, i'm just going to put these here and go back inside."

except for one thing, of course - we don't have those domes over our shopping cart things yikes where i live, they just look like normal parking spaces, but with little railings on the sides.

Well, it might, it might not be an employee, could be the customers too tongue I wouldnt be surprised after all the mess they can do with the shopping carts, especially when they somehow manage to get them out without the coin x) like, leaving it somewhere randomly, or pile them up randomly at one place.. at that time, you realize why you have to put the coins there and how greatful you are for it. We have many differend types of those shopping cart places, mostly just inside the supermarket, but as you can see, theres more fun when they have it outside tongue

Some grocery stores in the US have that too! The reason is to encourage people to put carts back themselves so they don't have to hire an employee to do it, keeping the food costs down. If you have an Aldi in your area, they're a good example. We do about 75% of our shopping there.

i dunno about where you live, but i've heard pretty bad things about them where i live - apparently a lot of food they sell (at least at our local store) is bad/expired.

You do have to really check the produce before you buy it. Sometimes it is older than in mainstream stores, and occasionally there will be bad apples or strawberries in the middle of the packages that probably just expired the day they were on the shelves and no one caught it. Everything else though, we haven't had a problem.

At one supermarket here, they sell bad vegetables and fruit regulary x) like, eiter too old or too early picked up.
