My Texture Hacks

I've attempted my first texture hack. I decided to transform Town Square into Gnorc Square. I would love some feedback!

Re: My Texture Hacks

The before-mentioned texture hack is now done! I was going to call it 'Area 63' but I now prefer Desert Factory. I thought because boss levels aren't done often, I thought I could give it a try. Desert Factory is Gnasty Gnorc (the level not the character.) with mostly Peace Keepers textures. (Some of the textures had a grunge effect added on them.) I like to think of it as an industrialized Peace Keepers. Oh the texture hack? Here are some photos and the texture file itself!

Re: My Texture Hacks

I've just finished a new texture hack of High Caves called 'Wario Mineshafts'. Basically I decided to try a non-Spyro themed texture hack this time around. I chose to take textures from 'Wario's Gold Mine', a map from 'Mario Kart Wii', and put them into High Caves, mainly because I thought I could transform said caves into mineshafts. The result is amazing, at least in my opinion. My favorite part of this texture hack are the castles. Here's some pictures and the texture file:

That's it, I like this texture hack a lot, so much so that it's my favorite texture hack that I made. Please stay tuned for more! big_smile

Re: My Texture Hacks

it's surprising how much the atmosphere of the level depends on the textures used. it makes sense that it'd change the level a little bit, but i would never have guessed it could make the level seem quite that different!

Re: My Texture Hacks

Haven't seen these texture hacks until now -- very nice work.  Are they playable on an emulator, or just your personal dabblings?
Forgive me, I don't have any experience with hacking/SpyroEdit, etc

Thanks for asking, currently, SpyroEdit isn't compatible with Spyro 1, therefore, I make these texture hacks in the World Viewer. big_smile

Re: My Texture Hacks

Hello guys, I decided to release a new texture hack for Gnorc Square's one month anniversary. This is a new texture hack called Wooden Fortress Zone. "What is that." you might ask, well, I retextured Dry Canyon with textures from Sonic Generations, (That's why the level is named the way it is.) I took textures specifically from Green Hill Zone, Chemical Plant Zone, and a few textures I made myself. I also put in the sky from Alpine Ridge. Here are pictures and the texture file:

Re: My Texture Hacks

Thanks, because of your statements its so tempting to keep the name of the level I hacked a secret, and have the name of the level in a spoiler or something. Also, I bet my posts would be hilarious with an egg thief voice, XD.

Re: My Texture Hacks

Hey guys, I just finished a new texture hack called 'Rustbucket Graveyard'. This texture hack is of Skelos Badlands (My first texture hack of a non-Spyro 1 level). In this hack, I took textures from the Pokemon Stadium maps from both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Brawl, I was going to make this a Pokemon themed texture hack, but because the level looks nothing like anything from Pokemon, I decided to not call this a Pokemon themed level. I call this level Rustbucket Graveyard because of the rusted ruins of robot dragons, and because I thought the level name was cool. The sky used is the one from Sorceress' Lair. Here are some pictures and the texture file:

And finally the texture file:

That's it for now, I will be releasing more texture hacks soon. (It would be hilarious if this was the last texture hack I release.) Please stay tuned, and thanks for checking my hacks out! big_smile

P.S. I actually prefer doing texture hacks that are non-Spyro themed, so expect more non-Spyro themed texture hacks. However, I will still do Spyro themed texture hacks, but not as often.

Re: My Texture Hacks

the differences here are more subtle, but still cool! smile makes it look like some kind of sci-fi thing on a foreign planet. also adds some "grittiness" to the level.

Re: My Texture Hacks

Well, it's been a week since I released my last texture hack, 'Rustbucket Graveyard', and a while since I did a Spyro themed texture hack, I decided to release 'Charmed Square' a texture hack for Town Square. Basically I took textures from Charmed Ridge and put them into Town Square, mainly because when I was younger, I thought Charmed Ridge resembled Town Square mainly by the orange roofs and the identical skybox. I actually still believe that to this day. Honestly IMO, this is one of my best texture hacks. Here are some pictures and the texture file:

Re: My Texture Hacks

I think when Insomniac was building the models for Charmed Ridge, they did it as a 'Town Square 2.0'. That's probably why they look similar. smile

Re: My Texture Hacks

Hello guys, I have an old texture hack that I made over a month ago: Glimmer Hill. I was watching a Spyro 2 LP about headbashpocalypse hacking in Glimmer and Summer Forest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mMOsG-BHaw, and noticed similar textures to the Artisans levels, which inspired me to retexture an Artisans level with Glimmer textures. The sky used is the original sky. I think this texture hack looks better then the original level, as the original looks dry and washed out in comparison. Here are some pictures and the texture file:
