eh, yeah but i saw an interview where the development team for Evangelion said they just included the symbolism to make their show appear more interesting. it doesn't actually have any meaning behind it, or have an impact on the show itself.
i don't watch Evangelion - a friend of mine does - i found that interview while researching something else.
