True, I didn't originally consider that. Public humiliation does make it worse. Still not sure I'd call it abuse, though, but I could see the argument for it, at least. The comments I was talking about were all about smashing the console being abuse, though.

Re: Dad forces son to break Xbox.
It would've been more stereotypical if his name was Billy or something : 3.
But let the kid have fun with playing Xbox i say. Not necesarry to break it, the one thing i would rather break is Facebook and Omegle
But having tons of fun gaming is just awesome. Y'know, aslong as he can finish the homework, but its not like i would friggin break a gaming console. Thats just too odd.

Re: Dad forces son to break Xbox.
Well it sounds like the kid was getting bad grades and blaming his teacher for it. There needs to be some consequence. If video games are contributing to the bad grades, taking them away is a fair consequence, especially if it's something he really likes that will motivate him. Smashing it is going too far, yeah, but it's not like it's just being taken away for no reason.

This actually reminds me of the video of that dad who shot his daughter's computer after she used it to talk crap about him on facebook for making her do the dishes. That was awesome
