About *bleep*

On SPAM its ok to *bleep*. Since... its spam so its obvious. However i think if more knew what *bleep* was, then they'd probably be like... oh.. Yeah now i know what you mean. Not trying to be mean in general, but the basic idea works i feel when knowing what it is ^^

Re: About *bleep*

Look in the spoilers. wink

I kind of miss the old forum where I could click "quick edit" on people's posts and see what their bleeps were. Now the forum actually converts the words into bleeps before they get submitted, so there's no way to tell.

Re: About *bleep*

i always just assumed the censored word list permanently changed those words from the very beginning, but now that i think about it, it's weirder that it would actually do that. if you (hypothetically) removed a word from the list, you're saying it would still stay as a bleep then?

Re: About *bleep*

I've never tested it, but yeah, I think it would. They probably made it like that because it's more efficient to do it this way. It only has to convert the word once, whereas with the old way it has to do it every time someone views the thread.

Re: About *bleep*

There's one reason why there's censorship. because alot of children were just going through internet, watching tv, listening to radio, etc. and their parents refuse to let them use profanity, so they censored bad words.

if i hear someone using profanaty, i would say this to him/her:

Hidden text

WATCH YOUR PROFANITY!

I got that from a video from another site (not YouTube). and the young boy in the video doesn't use profanity in it.

and the guy who said it part, it came from a tv show. i can't remember what its called, but i know what channel its on. it's on A&E.

*bleep* that *bleep*

honestly though, i never saw why "bad" words are "bad." i've heard it was initially because they were used too often or in insult of others, so they were dubbed "bad" in attempt to make people stray from them. basically a sign of a limited or rudimentary vocabulary. i don't overuse "bad" words, i just simply use them like i would any other word; a line maybe could be drawn if the word is used specifically to offend

Re: About *bleep*

Swearing is fine, it just depends on the context where you do it. If you're hanging out with your friends and use a curse word for emphasis or something and not to directly insult someone, there's no problem. Now if you are in a more formal setting, then you have to be more aware of your language. There's nothing inherently wrong with cursing really

As an adult this is one of the main problems I have with them now. I'm not offended by the use of bad words like I used to be, but people too often use them as a crutch, and it makes them sound unintelligent.

It also makes people sound more hostile than they might mean to, which is an environment I hope to avoid on this forum. If I go to a forum where every other word is the "f" word, I'm probably going to avoid that forum because I don't want to hang around with unintelligent and/or angry people.

Occasionally words are considered bad because they refer to something that kids probably shouldn't be talking about, but not always.

Knife Party's 'Internet Friends' is the scariest music video out there, because there's this one part that a man got kidnapped by a group of women and (surprise!) the man got killed because of that group of women.
EDIT BE PREPARED: THIS VIDEO IS SPOILERED DUE TO LANGUAGE, BLOOD, AND VILENCE

Knife Party - Internet FriendsWatch the whole video and you'll get the point on why this is the most scariest music video ever made

Re: About *bleep*

spyrothepalmontcityracer: Stormy and I can't possibly read every post every single day, so if you have a problem just alert us rather than giving another user a lecture on what you think they should do.

In this case however, I find your challenging of Flapjacks (and other users throughout the SPAM section) more disrespectful/annoying than the swearing in his post in the first place. Mods are here for a reason--mind your own business and don't tell other users what they can and can't do
