Skyrim Thoughts...

It's weird, but when I started playing Skyrim, I didn't expect the game to encourage underwater exploration. Somehow, I guess that's a little bit encouraged. Although you can't find many underwater treasures, sunken ruins, or aquatic caves, nor you can even attack underwater (way to go on the game design, Bethesda), there's that reptilian Argonian race. The race can breathe underwater, something Spyro practically does, if he doesn't just have a lungspan and only breathes air, thus having to be forced to resurface periodically, but in long intervals, like a month or two. Because of that Argonian fact, I ended up choosing to start a new game with that race 2 plays after I chose "Nord" for my first game. I discovered that sunken ship near Ilianita's (forgive me if I'm saying it wrong) Deep and Pilgrim's Trench, even practically swam in that deep, although not-so-deep, northern sea from the trench to High Peaks cave. I liked the watery experience, but it was really lacking and not very adventurous.

It makes me think that that an underwater attack ability should have been preset, and that there should have been attack eels to supplement the attack system, as well as a lot of underwater caves to explore as side-stuff to get exceptionally rare items. In the game, there is always a way to have fish-like breathing abilities, you know. Maybe that can happen in a future game one day, but I know that there's a lot of people who complain about swimming in video games. Hopefully, a perfect game with perfect swimming will come along (and not just Spyro 2), but we have to appreciate what we have for now, you know?

Wow. Did I just write that much?

Re: Skyrim Thoughts...

At least you can swim in the game I suppose... (looking you Red Dead Redemption and inFAMOUS. Well at least inFAMOUS makes sense in context)

Honestly though, I haven't played Skyrim. Though I understand that swimming in a lot of games can be really annoying when it was pretty much perfect in Spyro and Ratchet and Clank over a decade ago.

Re: Skyrim Thoughts...

Wanna know what game I hate swimming in? Arma 3. Because your guy swims so slow like he's never been in water before. And the time it takes for you to start drowning is stupidly low.

Re: Skyrim Thoughts...

Okay, new thought: since I chose an Argonian, which doesn't have the natural "frost resist" ability, I can't easily beat that dragon relatively close to the abandoned prison. HOW DO I *bleep*ing BEAT THAT DRAGON?!?!?!?

Leveling up then trying again later is always a safe strategy
