Why do some americans dislike farmers

I mean not everyone is perfect. And i don't mind self-irony jokes for that matter. But it seems people make lots of condemning jokes about rednecks. Like other than being a farmer i don't see anything wrong with it, atleast they work hard. I prefer that over a person behind a desk in a suit to be honest.

Edit: Not trying to sound judgemental over every citizens of a country. But i don't see the grudge in general hmm

Re: Why do some americans dislike farmers

A lot of people think my fellow wrestling fans are mindless beer-guzzling rednecks. I disagree. Farmers are hard working determined prople. I guess people may see them as rude, loud pieces of trash. Which is not true. Fan's right this is sad. But farmers are great. I completely respect them. smile

You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

Re: Why do some americans dislike farmers

I'm taking a food systems class right now, and it seems like lot of farmers in the US have it pretty bad. Many of them are pretty much indebted to the companies who sell them their seeds and fertilizers, and they basically have little choice financially of what they can grow due to huge government subsidies to crops like corn and soy. But I agree; farmers should be respected more, seeing as they're the ones who grow our food.

Redneck is more of a term people in the northern US use for the "uneducated" people of the south though. I've seen both sides (live in Minnesota, and have family all the way down in Louisiana), and it's an overall unfair judgement.

Re: Why do some americans dislike farmers

Tea mmm yes... Just joking. Democracy is good though smile Dictatorship system is really not helping society as a whole, it is afterall from the ancient greece which is power to the people and its the best ruling system in a society were everyone can constitute sensible laws (Which is why its power to the people), in compared to communism were you had one dude to dictate laws in a society.

And if it does help. Churchill was a pretty cool guy. "I vow to thee". ^^. But If one can hide up news of crimes commited by immigrants for many years, from another country "Aka Middle East for example" to avoid being called racist, then its truly something backwards going on in UK.  The problem is, everyone should be treated equally, and if one breaks the rule then its their own fault and should be treated as any other person. But that's obviously not the case.

I mean when was special treatment so important. If one breaks into your house then pay your due. Its pretty simple. UK: A bunch of blind sheeps too busy with their noses.

Its these things that i think UK have become more backwards than USA, since people claim USA is backwards that is. With the thought of all the Anti-American sentiment. Sure one may be critical to politics and what is implemented in it, and UK is no exception. So in that sense, Scottish independence. Yes sir absolutely.

I got a little off topic here. So here is a game. Its pretty fun for anyone who haven't tried it.

Re: Why do some americans dislike farmers

I hate to be "that guy", but try to keep to the topic at hand please. Steinar, you were obviously aware you were off-topic, but posted more off-topic video game footage. And Clock-la, I know you and Steinar don't usually see eye to eye, but there was really no need for your first comment and were just asking for controversy.

You can have these quasi-political discussions elsewhere, but try to keep it civil please. I don't see much quality discussion coming from this topic anymore (especially since the creator of the thread doesn't want to talk about it anymore), so I'm going to go ahead and close this.
