Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake "And Guard's eye line"
Have you noticed that this game is the most realistic and most workable way of a guard being smart and looking in direction to detect you
Don't know about you but i have edited a pic as an example
If you see the arrows. What's so great is that his view is determined in which direction he looks.(The guards looks to left and right etc, and that correspondes to were the arrow stuff goes to). If he looks down there, then you might get detected. So their field of view is pretty smart and mostly a realistic way to get detected. Well "Except the grid screen that prevents you from being detected(If the guard happens to be on the other side of the grid and you are on that other side, which you can see on the upper right corner), but its still a good concept".
In MGS2 or so forth it was this ![]()

So you could stand in front of an enemy in about 3 meters from him and still not get detected, but it was mostly to rely on walls to hide if the enemy got to close instead of spotting you at once at a long distance. But i wonder if the enemies get smarter if you pick harder difficulty, but still
But i guess the main point is to have fun. But i still love realism of stuff like that and still have fun ![]()

That screenshot is from the VR missions, which I believe make the guards dumber, mimicking easy mode. A guard in hard would very likely turn to suspicion mode if you turned around that corner, however, unlike Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 2 has a mechanic that allows you to peek corners, where as due to NES limits, it's likely that such a mechanic would've been hard to implement into the game.

Also changing the difficulty level allows them to see farther distances, if I'm not mistaken.

Re: Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake "And Guard's eye line"
Yeah true. That's what i think aswell. Indeed. I love to jumpshoot out of a corner with the classic "FREEZE!"
All these games are amazing. But "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake" was not on a NES but on a MSX2 Japanese Computer, but this game has been converted into being playable on game consoles. It came first out on PS2 as a bonus on "Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence". And latest was on "Metal Gear Solid HD Collection". So if you have that then you should be able to play both "Metal Gear" and "Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake" in the MGS3 game on the meny screen ![]()
