Guess who is getting a PS2 soon

ME!

Can't wait to try out Spyro games on it. First will be "Spyro: A Hero's Tail" the gameplay in it looks smooth and fun. Used to try it a little bit at a friend long time ago, but never got far.

I just can't wait to try it out big_smile . Anyone who owns a PS2 have one of the best consoles of all time, so much good games on it.

Yeah ^.^ I especially enjoyed Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3. Now i have a softmodded one (FMCB v 1.8) with OpenPS2Loader (I can launch games from PC through ETH (Ethernet))

I own a PS1, PS2, an a Xbox 360. It's aewsome and congrats! I enjoyed Spyro (of course) and Rayman.

Well, it was the most successful. I think it still has sold more units than any other game system.

I struggle to pick between 2 and 3, I have my own resons as for why :-P

PS2 is no nostalgic for me and just so...YES! but the PS3 was there for me whilst my gaming tastes changed and developed <3

I had a really hard time getting this ps2 to work, at first

1: The reader didnt read the disk at all so tried to open it and use q tips and something else on the reader to clean it up. But that wasn't the case

2: I turned the PS2 upside down on a something, and now it reads the disk.
It only reads the disk when i do this, the only way tongue

So now i'm gonna meet Ember cool

The graphics looks really good in this game smile

Has anyone ever tried emulating the games? They look soo much more detailed if you turn the Res higher than the PS2's native res. Turned up to my monitors 3840x2160 and it is amazing still XD

i can't emulate PS2 games. i downloaded an emulator but it goes SOOOOOOO SLOOOOOOOOOOOW.

Emulators are heavily reliant on Single or Dual cores most of the time (PCSX2 Uses dual core) so if your CPU is not up to it then you are not gonna get anywhere really sad

yeah, it always eats up no less than 98% of my CPU, and even then goes at probably like 0.5 fps, so i just uninstalled it for now. hmm

i don't really know much about my computer's specs btw, i'm on Vista and have a tower from Compaq that is >2 years old. that's about all i know about the thing.

1.) Vista should die XD
2.) If you do not know or want to know about computer specs and upgrading then just leave all the emulator stuff alone like you are doing now. wink

What is wrong with vista? I never had any problems with it, personally. I've heard of many people having problems with it, but never had any myself. I had a vista computer for several years, and it ran perfectly fine up until the video card died, which has nothing to do with vista.

I'm in the same boat as Flapjacks actually. I used a Vista computer a few years back and it didn't seem that bad. I think it's actually still in use at my parents' house. Keep in mind, I'm no computer genius now, let alone the 5+ years ago that I used it, but I never really had any problems with it.

Have fun with your Ps2 though! I recommend the Ratchet and Clank series wholeheartedly if you haven't played them already.

I can emulate PS1, N64, SNES, SEGA MasterDrive and even Dreamcast. But i cant emulate Gamecube or PS2 games.

That's odd, considering Dreamcast is more powerful than the PS2, however I can understand not being able to emulate the Gamecube. It's pretty hardware intensive. I can sorta emulate the PS2. Most games are playable, however things like MGS3's cutscenes are horribly slow. I haven't tried emulating the Dreamcast or Gamecube.

I can emulate PS2 games pretty well, FFX and Tales of Destiny ran at full speed all the time but Legendia, while it gives me 60 FPS outside of battles is horribly slow during battles and cutscenes if there are too many characters on screen. The battles go down to as low as 30-40 FPS and going to menus in battle slows the game down to under 10. It's pretty ridiculous.

Do y'all know of any popular PS2 games that I might have missed out on that would be on the Playstation Store (PS3)? I feel like missed out on a lot of those games, due to the fact that DDR took up most of my playtime on PS2.
