Favorite Zelda game

Either Majora's Mask or Windwaker. I can't seem to choose between them. I was in love with OOT but after beating it on N64 and 3DS I guess it kinda lost it's charm, at least to me it did.

Re: Favorite Zelda game

As unpopular as this probably is, my favorite Zelda is probably Twilight Princess (played the Gamecube version) followed by Spirit Tracks.

Now here me out here...

Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game I played since I had a Playstation growing up. I found the world it was set in to be very compelling and I really enjoyed the gameplay (learning different sword techniques, cool items, etc). Hearing how good Ocarina of Time was supposed to be, I borrowed the Gamecube disk from a friend, and couldn't get into it. All the mechanics had since been updated in TP and the game's visuals were...N64 blocky for lack of a better descriptor. I'm not a big graphics guy normally, but N64 games just look bad to me, especially playing on a newer TV.  I wasn't hooked by the story or anything like that, so I gave up and tried Majora's Mask. Same deal. The time mechanic also stressed me out, and I didn't want to use walkthrough, so I gave up on it as well. I went back and bought the 3DS remake of Ocarina and made it through the whole game; I just wasn't that impressed by it.

And I just liked Spirit Tracks. The music was great, I didn't mind the touch screen controls at all, and the character interactions were really entertaining.

Now I've also played Link's Awakening DX and have been playing Wind Waker HD on and off. Wind Waker is good so far, I just haven't been consistent playing it. I've been hooked on Earthbound, Dark Souls II, and Shovel Knight. :P I'd better get to it soon before school starts up again or it may remain unfinished for a while.

Also, A Link Between Worlds on 3DS looks right up my alley, so I may have to give that one a try.

Lol, sorry for the wall of text.

i was never a fan of the 2D zelda games, except minish cap. i actually enjoyed a link between worlds until i did everything there was in the game. its just a super short game i guess. twilight princess is pretty cool, especially the whole turning into a wolf thing. though i've never been able to get into skyward sword, that game just... errghhh
and spirit tracks, i love that game. its just a simple game but is also challenging at times. i think i just prefer simple games rather than ones that constantly want to make me rip my hair out

Re: Favorite Zelda game

Zelda A link to the Past is something i first played, i like both Ocarina of Time and Zelda ALTTP though. But i didn't try like OoT before i borrowed a Nintendo 64 and let them borrow my PS2. But i remember how cool it was big_smile
I think it all went downhill when Zelda Skyward Sword game with cool game controls but horrible graphics to look at and ruining the experience.
Proving that graphics do matters smile And one of the reasons why i miss selling my PS2 now.

That's good to know. Maybe I'll pick it up then since I might actually have the time to finish it, haha.

I've never played Skyward Sword, but it seems to be a really divisive game from what I heard. Personally I don't see myself enjoying the motion controls much. The art style to me isn't terrible (some of it looks beautiful, but Link just looks derpy). You have to remember they had to compromise a lot graphics-wise because of the Wii's low specs. The new Zelda on Wii U looks great so far though, so we have that to look forward to. And from what I've heard the game is going to be more open-ended and exploration focused rather than linear, so I'm really excited to see how that turns out.

Also, here's some Spirit Tracks music just cause it's great

Re: Favorite Zelda game

Majoras Mask, Wind Waker and the two Oracle games. Haven't played all of the games so that's always subject to change.

Twilight Princess, Wind Walker, and A Link Between Worlds.

Re: Favorite Zelda game

Twilight Princess is probably my favorite, followed by Ocarina of Time. I really can't get into the 2D ones either, but I did really enjoy Spirit Tracks. If only I could beat it now...

Of the others I enjoyed, the big reason I couldn't get into then was in large part the worlds. None of the other versions of Hyrule (or Termina, in the case of Majora's Mask) had the same high-fantasy feel that I fell in love with in TP and OoT. Majora's Mask was too weird, and it's hard to care about helping a character when you know everything you did to help them will be for nothing as soon as you turn the clock back the next time. Skyward Sword and Wind Waker both had great towns/dungeons, but felt as though everything between them was just cheating. There's no reward for exploration less exciting than an island that looks slightly different from the last island I saw, whereas in Twilight Princess or OoT, I would get to see the landscape change before my eyes as I get closer to a new area. Instead of "oh hey, I've never seen that mountain range before" it was "oh look, another wave/cloud".

Re: Favorite Zelda game

I've been playing more Wind Waker, and I can definitely agree with the overworld not being all the interesting. Luckily in the Wii U version they added a "Fast Sail" that increases the speed of your boat and makes it so you don't have to change the wind direction when sailing, so now I'm actually kind of enjoying the exploration. Plus it helps that the game is beautiful to look at.

I think that I'm gonna get an emulator and play Wind Waker :x

Never ask what I'd do for a klondike bar. No one wants to go down that road.

This got so old so fast. I'm actually sad to say I never finished Wind Waker. I lost interest before the end. I should pick it up again and finish it sometime.
