The page got locked because of our edit warring, and one of the admins reverted the page to the state it was in before the warring started, which happened to include the link. Obviously Quinten Armijo is refusing to listen to reason. Any support on the talk page would be much appreciated; I'm the only one trying to talk some sense into this guy at the moment, and the admins don't want to do anything until we've reached a consensus.

I'm currently in the process of contacting the proper authorities to get it removed permanently. Just have to wait until the page is unprotected tomorrow.

Let me just say this as the most useful advice about him, don't bother trying to teach sense into him. Whatever he thinks to him is law and only law.

Yeah, I really don't expect to change his mind. I'm more interested in laying out the case for anyone else who might become interested in this guy's spam... but it should be very obvious to anyone with a shred of common sense who's in the right here, so I'm probably wasting my time with that, even. tongue

REYKJAVIKHARFNARFJOURKOPAVOGUR WAS ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO BREATHE CRYSTALLIZED DRAGONS AND PUT OUT FIRES BUT THEY CHANGED THAT AFTER THE JOHNNY BRAVO PEOPLE THREATENED TO SUE INSOMOSIAC OVER THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN BREATHING CRYSTALLIZED DRAGONS AND JOHNNY BRAVO COMBING HIS HAIR SO THEY REVERSED THEM TO AVOID A LAWSUIT

THE NAME RIPTO IN SPYRO TWO COMES FROM BONNIE TYLER WHICH IN KOREAN LOOKS LIKE FKSJGSDGJIOISFJ WHICH INSOMOSIAC READ TO BE RIPTO

SKATEBOARD MOVES IN SPYRO THREE ARE NAMED AFTER ENEMIES FROM THE PREVIOUS GAMES SUCH AS THE DOCTOR SHEMP EXTRAVAGANZA WHICH IS A MOVE WHERE YOU DO THIRTY FRONT FLIPS AND THEN DO A HUNDRED THIRTY HUNDRED MILLION RIGHT FLIPS AND A FRONT FLIP AGAIN OR SOMETHING

ON THE WALLS IN SUMMER FOREST AND WINTER TUNDRA YOU CAN SEE WORDS THEY SPELL OUT THE BILL OF RIGHTS AND WERE PUT IN BY THE DESIGNER BASED ON SOMETHING HIS KIDS READ IN ONE OF THE SCHOOL TEXT BOOKS

The head IP user was blocked for two days on wikipedia for reverting the edit of an admin removing his fansite link on the Spyro series page. Smooth move.

Yeah, not a smart move to get into an edit war with an admin.

I thought the same thing, 36; all of the posts seem way too similar in tone to be different people. I guess it's possible that all of these same types of fans just congregated in this one place, but....

Look at the talk page, too - he used at least two different IPs to pretend to be "netrual" users in favor of adding the link back.

You know, I think I might actually stick around on Wikipedia after all of this to help fight other forms of spam. tongue

(By the way, guys, I would be a horrible moderator if I didn't mention that we should continue to avoid personal attacks on this guy (not that anyone is doing that right now). We can talk about the site and the owner's actions, but when we start insulting actual people, it's going too far.)

no problem! a lot of people think that Spyro's scale color was blending into the grass, but in fact it was his name REYKJAVIKHARFNARFJOURKOPAVOGUR. i made that by combining/misspelling various places in Iceland.
