Have you seen this Concept
NASA have pushed for research into FTL (Faster Than Light) Travel and there are quite a few articles appearing on the internet about it.

Wow, even the fact that this could be theoretically possible is insane! Props to all those geniuses at NASA. It's too bad they're so underfunded. I can't even imagine the amount of fuel it would take to make one of those things work though.
A spaceship equipped with a warp drive would allow faster-than-light travel by bending the space around it, making distances shorter. At the local level, however, the spaceship wouldn't be moving faster than light.
This is just insane to think about.

But I don't think its a good idea to run this thing on regular fuel....
