Tales of Series

Okay, so we're playing Symphonia 2, and so far Emil and Marta are just annoying me with how angsty and clueless they are. I'm probably just predisposed to dislike them because they keep badmouthing Lloyd, but still, I hope they become less annoying soon.

I hope so eventually. tongue They could be worse, and I am still liking the game. It doesn't help that neither Emil or Marta are very fun to play as, though.

I just want to them to resolve some of the plot twists that are being so heavily hinted at already. It's obvious something is going on with Emil and his memory with all the hints they've been dropping, so when are they going to explain it? And when are we going to find out the truth about Lloyd? I really hope they're not going to make us play the whole game with the characters thinking he's evil.

The story needs a bit more direction, too. Most of what we're having to do are seemingly random tasks that should be relegated to sidequests. It's definitely not the epic world-saving journey the first game was.

I find that what keeps me going is just waiting for the next scene with a party member from the first game. Emil and Marta annoy me. Tenebrae is funny though.

EDIT: I'm getting much more into it now that we're farther into the game. I'm still not a huge fan of Marta or Emil, but I like the roles of the characters from the first game.

Tales of Symphonia 2 has gotten waaaay better. It started out slow, but it does eventually become worth it.

Also, even though I can't speak Japanese at all, I'm very glad we have the option to use Japanese voiceovers because there are some pretty funny lines that wouldn't be the same in English. Mostly from Zelos.

Also it made the transition from the first game smoother since everyone has the same voice actors in Japanese tongue

Sorry for the double post, if it hasn't been long enough for one to be allowed, please merge them.

So next up on our replay of the favorites of our tales games is Vesperia. We watched the prequel movie last night to prepare for it and I tried for I swear the hundredth time to beat the final boss ( if you do the devil's arms side quest that's in almost all takes games the final boss gets a third form who is extremely hard to beat). I did it so we could import all the costumes I unlocked for our new game plus and I actually did it! First try too! I seriously have not been this proud of a video game achievement for a long, long time.

Man I just reached the 40 hour mark in Tales of Abyss and I feel like I only just reached the halfway point. How long is the game supposed to be so far?

Also Jade is best character.

I'm not that good at these games, and my playtime was about 55 hours according to my 3DS.

I would be curious how long Tales of Xillia was in comparison. I don't think the PS3 counts game time.

Xillia is the shortest Tales game in the US so far. When we played it we clocked in around 50 hours, whereas all the other Tales games took us around 70. I think it's due to the ability to fast travel right from the beginning and the lack of puzzles in the dungeons.

So the other day it was found that Gamestop had the Vita version of Tales of Hearts R on there release schedule thing, than today they had this page on their website.

The page has been deleted for reasons unknown but what could this all meaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan?

Either a mistake or a leak. Either way, I won't be playing that one. For one thing, I don't plan on getting a Vita, and for another I don't know if I'd have as much fun with a 2D Tales game anyway.

Edit: I guess the main character's name is Shing Meteoryte. I find that to be a funny name!

Richter's Japanese VA is so much better...

God that line is so bad. With lines like that you have to be as hammy as possible to make it work, but that guy just sounds so bored while saying it.

So since I'm nearly done with 100% Tales of the Abyss. I went ahead and started Tales of Destiny on the PS2(Japan only and no fan translation exists nor being worked on, though there is a translated script to Stans side that I'm using.)

I'm only 3 hours in and I'm already liking it more than Abyss. The plot is much more straightforward, and the combat(despite it being 2D) is very fast and fluid. My only real gripe with it is that..well its Japanese. Makes navigating menus a bit hard sadly. But buying equipment is straightforward at least.

I don't think I'd bother with any game that's not translated to be honest. Too much work just to play a video game.

I must be really deep underground in this stuff, but is there any version relased on PS3? ._. (btw: i'm planning to buy Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure (no Spyro game can hide away from me >D)

The PS3 is hands down the best console for tales of. You've got Graces, Xillia, Symphonia 1 & 2, Xillia 2 this fall, and then Zesteria is coming out next year sometime.
